Morning /Evening everybody.
Ann ,what a week you chose for your hols.Fantastic weather for you. I love Mount Edgecombe .Those beautiful lawns going down to the waters.I think I remember a beautiful Orangery. Is it still there?I often went over there on a little boat from Plymouth .
William,I remember when I was about 14 or 15,this lad called Barry had a huge Motorbike.A BSM or something like that.Anyway he used to show off by 'Burning' around the village.I once had a ride on it ,in my mini skirt :-0 and no helmet of course :-|.It was great .So exhilarating and scary.Gripping on to his middle as hard as possible and trying to remember to lean with the bike going around bends. My parents would have murdered me if they had known what I was doing :-D :-D :-D Mel is one who loved motorbikes :-D :-D.
It is too nice to be sat on here,so will be back later .James and Jess has just made up a picnic and are off to Foxton Locks. They will be lucky to find somewhere to park .

Well the weathers is beautiful again here warm with a nice breeze. Just going to have breakfast after coming back from the warehouse which was full of paki people who like to be called paki I asked some of the regulars one man who stacks up the boxes in the warehouse. I do the stacking up of the beers and so on and they call me stacky paki . So if anyone was offended about me calling someone a paki they are not at all bothered. Some of the pakistani gents at the warehouse are my best friends and in Birmingham there are so many of mixed races and some are lovely and some are dreadful.
The European song contest turned out how I predicted I will not be watching next year. I think however good our song they will not win with it what rubbish some of the songs were and I loved the Norway song and it ended up below us. The Russian grannies were adorable but I thought our song was out of place and we should either sling our hook change the style of song but do not think we would win far too many baltic countries taking part . The audience reacted well too it however. Poor Jedwood they were ok but the dress was a little weird.
Interesting to read other comments.
Michelle was in London on Friday went up for the day to do with work and fainted. She was at the station having climbed up dozens of stairs the escalator was not working and it was murder. She was trying to get water but everybody had the same idea and Michelle fainted. She woke up with several people round here they gave her water and a lady took Michelle to a first aid post and then the nurse took her blood pressure and said she thought she was just hot and let her stay but she had to go to get her train back to Birmingham. But cooled down and was ok. It was a long day for her she was up at 5am and had a day in a busy office with only half an hour for a lunch break. Euston was packed out.
Jaspers had a cut he does not look like a cairn and seems to have such a little frame now. I had him cut really short. he is kind of beige now with black stripes looks a bit like a mini doggy zebra. He went down well over the park with the female students. running and licking them while they sunbathed.

Oh has'nt put the water on up there yet so I have to bring everything down to the house.
Sheila glad Michelle was ok. Just been overdoing a bit that hot day I suppose. Tell her to slow down a bit please.

Have given up with ironing shirts.I have done 3 and that is plenty in this heat lolol.I had 2 big fans blowing on me and I was still boiling.Everything can wait until the morning. Mel Ethan was 1 year last week.I think he was unsettled and crying through the night because he wasn't keen on the travel cot so Rachel put him in his pushchair.Poor little mite wouldn't have been able to turn over or anything as he was strapped in !!!!!!!.Imagine sleeping on your back for hours and not being able to change positions :-S :-S
Poor Michelle Sheila.Good job people were willing to help her.So many people these days just walk on on by . I love your posting about your friends at the warehouse, staki P**i. :-)But there will be people on GR who will not be happy with that P word and you may find your post disappearing again if someone reports it.Maybe best if you pop a star or two in place of a letter lol.It would be a pity to lose a whole post. :-D I bet Jasper feels a new man with his new haircut, and a lot cooler too :-D :-D Next door have a massive long haired German Shepherd .He must be suffering a bit in the heat right now. Must go and get a glass of iced water now .BBL

My word, it takes a bit of catching up on here when you haven't been on for a week!!!
Poor Michelle Sheila. It is easy to be overcome by the heat, but worse when you are far from home. I remember I used to carry those cool wipes to wipe my forehead when I was at work as you couldn't dress to suit the weather then. Running cold water on your wrists in ladies toilets can help too. I bet Jasper likes his new 'short cut'. I trimmed OH's hair outside this morning......another 'short cut'!!
Frank, I bet Ros enjoyed her wirework class. It brings a new dimension to what you can make. It is best to get the tarnish resistant wire if she gets the silver colour and to practice before she moves onto REAL SILVER wire!! lol. MORE EXPENSE!! I haven't used any of that yet. We found more than 4 beadshops, all by accident, while we were away, so keep your eyes open around Torquay. I found stuff I hadn't seen elsewhere, even on the internet.
Jane, lucky you having been able to get the ferry to Mount Edgecombe!! We watched it come in. The Orangery is still there and had some interesting insect sculptures in front of the cafe. We didn't go up to the house, just to the formal gardens by the water. The views are lovely aren't they. We were going to go on to nearby Anthony House (where Alice in Wonderland was filmed) but it is shut on Saturdays.
It sounds like Ethan has kept you all on your toes! I bet he would have sooner stayed at home in his own bed. Poor Rachel not well too. I admire her for taking a baby on such long trips though.
We went to one of my favourite gardens on Monday....Trebah and despite wonky knees I got all the way down to the sea and back up again!! I couldn't manage the flight of stairs onto the beach though as there were no handrails so OH went and got me a coffee from the beach hut that is there now. Quite a few folk were using those nordic poles, so I might try them.
We visited 2 other gardens and went to Bude and down to Penzance and the Lizard lighthouse as well as nearer places like Truro and Redruth. It was great as a lot of carparks were free as the season has not started yet. No queues anywhere, much quieter than last September. Also NO oilseed rape, so no runny eyes at night!! :-D :-D What we did notice was that as the supermarkets are proliferating a lot of small garages have closed. Also lots of property for sale including a few chapels for development.
Sheila, I worked with a lot of Asian people and a few West Indians and most were very easygoing and would make fun of themselves like we do of ourselves and call each other names too. Others would not even speak to each other if they met out of the office because they were of a different caste.
Pat, you seem to be collecting quite a few bargains these days!! Still, some are too good to miss aren't they!!

Evening all,
Have been a busy little boy today.
Was up at 6.00 am. too hot to sleep, even with the windows wide open in the bedroom, and me sleeping on top of the bed. Ros was up by 8.00 am most unusual. !!!!! Had toast for breakfast, NO BACON SARNIE. Got all the dinner prepared before 10.00 am.
Had a nice lay in the sun, with the paper. Boy have I got some colour on me now. You should see my white bits :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 Have had a few cold beers today.
Carolyn came about 3.00 pm. We had dinner about 4.30 Ros didn't eat that much nor did I. Carolyn ate her dinner and a sweet. She said how nice it was not having to cook herself.
She went home about 7.00. Then I started to water the pots and greenhouse. Young neighbour came out and said. "Don't you know there's a hosepipe ban" I sain not for us we have BLUE BADGES. so he said come and water my garden then. Saucey little B.
William, My first car was a 1947 Ford Prefect. 4 doors as well. That was in 1960. when I came out of the RAF. The wipers were on a vacume. The faster you went, the slower the wipers went. It had the old trafic arm indicators. I managed to get my hands on some modern indicators, and fitted them back and front. I ran that for four years, and traveled from Hullbridge in Essex to our holiday destinations from Wales,Norfolk, Devon. It did me proud and only Cost £25.00. I sold it when I moved to Northamptonshire and got £40.00 for it.!!!!
Glad you are back Ann, and that you had a good time. I hope you left the weather down there, we are off to Torquay on 6th June.

I hope you get some sun too Frank. There was a nice gentle breeze to cool you off down there, much nicer than the heat here. We really feel our batteries are recharged so I hope it does you and Ros good as well. I'm not sure whether we have a hosepipe ban or not here.....will have to check as carrying all these cans gets a bit much.
We have just had a little drama here.........the tiniest fox cub with the biggest ears trotting too and fro across the bottom of the close calling for it's mum! After about 7 minutes it trotted up the close on wobbly little legs calling every few seconds. Then mum appeared right under our bedroom window and answered and it came pelting back! Mum had bare patches so is probably the mangy fox we have seen before. I'm glad it found mum as I would have been worried about it......even though they are pests and cruel!! I wonder if I dare look behind the shed in the morning. :-0 :-S
Sleep tight everyone........

Frank, I remember those old vacuum wipers, a bi*ch in hard rain, when you need to see out of the windscreen so you had to slow down to get decent visibilty. Anyway, you made a profit when selling it , what a bonus. I wonder why you didn't go on to to be a car dealer! Frank Daley!!! I know those old Ford model's. My wife's aunt and uncle had one brand new, they offered to take us down to London one time when we wanted to visit my folks in Chadwell Heath. It was a luxury compared with doing the trip on the scooter. I can't remember for the life of me how we got back? When I was at RAF North Weald and on a weekend pass, a chum of mine on camp was coming back this way as far as Rugby and offered me a lift. He had an old pre-war Morris 8, with a wind-out front window. It was very useful when we ran into a patch off fog and he had to wind it open and peer through the gap. Can you imagine that in these days of safety regs? I got the Midland Red bus from Rugby to Nuneaton, and guess I got the train back to camp. I know Hullbridge from my cycling days as a youth when I went on week-end forays on my (push) bike. I think I knew every corner of Essex then.
Catch you all later. Have a nice day, stay cool.

Morning everyone,
Sounds like you are having a heatwave. We are just the opposite with winter setting in. I find my spot in the sun to read the paper, but the wind is very nippy. Had some much needed rain, but it is gone again.
Very quiet here, still coughing like a dog (hope that doesn't offend any canine lovers on here, lol).
Ann thanks so much for your photos. Really beautiful!!! Where did you go, as I haven't been on here much due to dramas and my health. I have been to Truro and Plymouth though. My first fleeter was christened in Truro in 1772.
Jane you must be enjoying the peace again, not to mention Chester. How is he doing with the heat? Poor little Ethan such a long trip for a little chap. I hope he settles back into his routine once they get home. As you said, a lot for Rachael to cope with on her own. How are Fitz and Janice doing?
Sheila sorry about Michelle, poor girl. Must admit we don't start fainting until it gets up around the 40's. Just what you are acclimatised too. So pleased someone was there to help her. We only have aircon. on some of our trains and people are always passing out during summer. Slack authorities over here. Jasper must be enjoying having less coat to cope with. Glad your leg is on the improve and so sorry you had to wait 50 minutes in the post office. That's over the top.
I've had 6 cards arrive from Britain, so thank you very much. All sitting in a neat pile and not one opened (SHEILA, lol).
Downton Abbey 2 has just started here and I'm really enjoying it so much. Could see myself as a lady of the manor. ;-)
Not long until you go then Frank. I did like Torquay when I was there. Stayed at the Palm Court I believe. Will have to get my old photos out. OH No. 1 took a lot with him when we parted. :-(
Mel what sort of chair did you get?
Mandy animals are so contrary when they want to be. I used to take my dog around the side of the house to the shade and she would get up and walk back and lay in the full sun; same with my old cat. Can't fathom their thinking sometimes :-S
Hope Shirl, Pat and Maureen are well and everyone else. Have a good day folks, stay cool as best you can. 6.40 pm EST

Morning All and Evening Kim,
Warm today but a bit cloudy and a little breeze.
Loads to do still as a friend dropped by yesterday afternoon and put us all back. Oh has to go and get more srcews for the new bit of decking and get on with cementing the posts in to support it which should have been done yesterday! I still have the caravan to sort out a bit and then clean the whole house so you won't see me much this week.
Shall try and keep up with your posts but please excuse me if I don't.
Hope all are feeling better after this nice spell of weather.
Keep well.

Afternoon All,
Up at 6.00 am again this morning, Showered shaved and bacon sarnie, three cups of tea, all before 7.30
Ros had put a load in the washing machine last night, so I got that in the basket, put the line up, with the props. She hung it out when she got up. If I had hung it out it would have been wrong.
About 10.00 I took the perscriptions round the Doctors. Managed to get to see the Nurse, My right ear feels like it's got an echo, it's congestion behind the ear. Need to breath in Oba~ oil in hot water.Or spray a dfe-congestany up my nose.
While in the Docs I meet an old friend who I haven't seen for over 10 years. We sat and had a good old chat while both waiting for our appointments. I left there and bumped in a couple I knew, another 15 minutes gone, then up the road another couple and another 15 minutes.
When I got in, Ros was waiting to get off to the hairdressers. So won't see her for 3 hours.
Ann, The photo's werre beautiful, Where were they taken. ???? I think the fish could be a mullet, and the other some sort of mollusc, but nor sure what one.
Hope everyone enjoys today's sunshine, I'm off to the garden now for a read. IN THE SHADE.

Afternoon All,
Pheww.....hot isn't it. I did some battle with the rocks for a while, but have come in and showered now before going to a couple of garden centres. The bedding plants I left in the greenhouse last week fried!!!
Kim, it is nice to save your cards till the day isn't it. :-D I hope things are calmer now at your end. You seem to have difficult times at the moment.
OH has been weeding and tomorrow he starts all over again weeding his dad's garden and mowing their lawn before he takes his mother for her weekly treatment at Coventry hospital. I think some things will have to change if it becomes regular though. His dad keeps the mower in it's original box and it has to be lifted out of it each time they use it!!! His dad started to say it was alright in there, you just have to lift it out when OH said it didn't need to be in the box did it. They seem to forget OH has a bad back and sciatica if he isn't careful!!

Afternoon one and all Just popping in briefly .Have spent the morning ironing :-S But it's all done :-D James is sleeping before he starts work tonight.I tried to get some blackout material this morning but only managed to get the end of the roll. Not quite enough but it will do for now.Typical isn't it the first time James is trying to sleep in the day the bl***y door has gone 3 times which makes Chester bark :-S :-S :-S.The next one will be Fitz who will be calling in on the way back from a hospital appointment. That will set Chester off again .I have put a couple of chairs down the bottom of the garden so we can have a good old chat .Can't use the Patio as we will be too noisy and Fitz can be a bit loud lol.As Ann knows :-D
Ann your photos are stunning what beautiful trees and plants. All those Bamboo trees.A lovely holiday to remember . I don't know what the fish are but could the other be a kins of Sea Anemone? Hope everyone is well and still enjoying the hot weather.I think it cools right down tomorrow.
Have we heard from Fiona lately? I'm not sure that we have (unless I missed a post)
Any sign of the baby Fox this morning Ann?

Jane, You should put a big notice on your front door "NIGHT WORKER PLEASE DO NOT RING THE BELL" You might hear a small knock on the door, without CHESTER doing his nut !!!!! You can hope anyway.
Have had two RED KITES high in the sky over our bungalow. Just drifting on the breeze. I sat and watched them for ages. Didn't see them FLAP their wings once. They are SOOOO BIIIGGG. You wonder how they stay up there.
Ros went off about 11.45. Still not back, hope everything is O.K. The time she's been She could have a new head of hair :-D :-D :-D :-D SHE MIGHT HAVE !!!
Have weeded the veg. plot this afternoon. I filled up the fridge with more beers and cokes. Took the wrappers to the bins. The black bin was emptied this morning, when I went to put some rubbish in, it was alive with MAGGOTS. I got the hose out and flushed the lot down the drain. I have now put a load of JEYE# Fluiid in the bin.
No hot meal tonight. Beef and Ham salad, cold potato's and Cold Beer. for me. Fruit juice for Ros.
As its our anniversary on Sunday, I have booked a table for 4 adults and one child (ELLA is coming as well) at trhe Wallnut tree hotel in Blisworth. Will save me cooking, and will be a bit of a treat for Ros.
