I have just rescued the silicone cake cups from the bin.Chris didn't realise they are reusable :-S.James would not have been impressed as he bought them.

Afternoon all,

Dark and misserable here. Heating on, now too hot.!!!

Did you see the "HAMMERS" won yesterday, back in the prem. where they belong. Caught bits of Chelsea last night, glad they won. Lewis will be over the moon.

Had another call yesterday. The call centre was in the Phillipines, Wanted to know how old I was (92) how do you cook and heat/ight your house. (parafin lamps and candles) When is your house insurance due (can't afford it) Also car insurance (NOT INSURED) It went on for ages. Finally I said I don't want to answer anymore questions and said goodbye !!!!!

Didn't see Shelia's post either. You can't say a word out of place, even in your own country.!!!!

Kim, Thanks for your reply. I've given up on my own two children. Thank goodness Ros'a two boys want and treat me as their DAD. At least I have them.

I hope you all have a pleasent afternoon, and you sicko's are feeling a bit better.

All dressed up and waiting for son to pick me up for the party, I'm starving but bettter not eat anything now. Harry loves kisses and cuddles, I could give him from everyone and he'd still want more.

Ended up watching the football, well the end of it which was really exciting ............. as exciting as football can be ................. was holding my breath when the last penalty was taken, I'm not a Chelsea supporter but didn't want the Germans to win ...... oh dear ....... do you think someone will take my post off now for being racist ....... ;-)

I bought some strawberries too in the Garden Shop and boy oh boy do they smell wonderful :-D :-D.Then of course I had to go and get some cream and icecream to go with them. That is pudding sorted. ;-)

Don't worry Jane, warmer weather is on the way. Tomorrow cloudy but about 20 degrees Tuesday showing sun all day, that'll be right, I shall be ironing all day Tuesday.

I often think strawberries are one of those foods that smell better than they taste, nice with loads of cream poured on them though. Must stop thinking about food, I'm sooo hungry.

William Report 20 May 2012 14:56

Yes Frank, good old Hammers. Although I've never seen a match of theirs, my Dad used to take me to W H Speeway as a boy when 'The Hammers' 'dirt trackers' used to be top men on a speedway bike. I'll always remember Eric Chitty taking the bends at speed.

I was reminsicing to myself about family dogs the other day. I bet you can all remember the dogs that your families had when you were young. The first dog I recall was a neighbours, he could have been an airedale, I was under five and it's a very brief recollection, but I know he was called Chum. I had a clockwork dog that was like him which I also called Chum. Happy days. That was when we lived in Stratford, in Wast London.
Our first dog in Chadwell Heath was Prince, a black mongrel who suffered from fits from time to time. He was a total rogue, could jump a 6 foot fence and loved rolling in horse dung and coming home stinking. That was in the days when tradesmen came round in horse & carts, milk etc. He bit me a total of nine times and got away with it, probably because I used to torment him. His final act was to bite me on the wrist, just missing the main artery - that was his death knell as Dad took him to the vets to be put down because he figured next time it would be too late - or maybe someone elses child.
Then came Peggy, a cross pom, who was a total lady and much loved. Black and white, she knew how to behave and was admired by everyone who visited. A bit of a poser you'd say. However, her breed caused 'lady dog' problems and she didn't have a long life. But not then less, as I said, she much loved.
Then came Kit, a small sandy haired bitzer, bits of this and bits of that but very dinky. She was almost human. She could tell when my brother was on the way from Hornchurch and would lay at the foot of the stairs until he arrived with his wife. She was the same when I travelled down from the Midlands for family visit. Later on she learned to count. My Dad would lay on the floor with her and put out dog treats (something like Smarties) and if she barked the correct numbers, should could eat them. Needless to say she got it right every time. She had a good long life, but after my mother died, my Dad never got another dog.
However, my brother had a Jack Russell named Mutley. He was crazy and if he saw another dog in the street and an upstairs window was open, he'd jump straight out! Never hurt himself, and no dog was too big for a match. It was al bravado - he never hurt them, just ran rings round them and totally confused them. I think he was just showing off. Carmel and I took him for a walk in Hornchurch park one time. He saw another dogs a long way off, backed out of his collar and lead and took off like a rocket across the park. It took us ages to get him back on the lead. My brother thought we'd gone into Romford, it took so long.

Dull and damp here today so the gardening has been postponed to another day.

Catch you all soon.

No way LIZ, these people always hide away after they stir up a bee's nest. Why can't they keep their nose out.

Mel, How was the chicken after all the blue smoke ???

Jane I know where the accident was, shouyldn't happen.
Take care eating all that cream, you know where it will end up. FAT AR## :-D :-D :-D

Finished dinner, Ros washed up, I had a couple of beers with my dinner, now for fourty winks <3 <3 <3

Jane

Jane Report 20 May 2012 16:43

No Liz ,they won't reveal themselves. It would have been nicer just to have PM'd Sheila to ask to remove the post.

William ,I love your doggie tales.I never had a dog when I was young .We had cats.I know my Dad would have loved a dog ,but Mum forbade it :-S :-S
I have only had 2 dogs in my life .Chester as you know I have now.But the one before him was called Dodger. He was a rescue dog a Cross Collie /Retriever and was just the loveliest dog in the world. He knew when the school bus was due and always got excited when he saw it come down the road, and would then be there at the front door to greet Hannah and James.Sadly we only had him for four years as he had collapsed vertebrae in his back and even after 2 major ops got no better. His back legs had gone and we had to say Bye Bye.I can't tell you how sad it was.I won't because I will be here blubbing all over the laptop.
I was always scared of dogs when I was little. My friend had a Bulldog called Brandy who frightened the life out of me.( I think he was a gentle old thing really). When I went to call for my friend I would just rattle their gate to let them know I was there. No way would I go through that gate...just in case Brandy was out .I can still feel the fear now :-S :-S

Dear Fitz has a DVT :-S :-S.Is having to inject himself with Heparin and then tomorrow I think will be put on Warfarin. He won't be happy about that :-S
Just off to put Chicken Breasts wrapped in Pancetta in the oven, and then the roast spuds.I am starving :-)

LilyL

LilyL Report 20 May 2012 17:06

You're so right Jane, and Frank and Tracy, It WOULD have been nicer for whoever,(including GR team if it was them,) to pm Sheila explaining that what she wrote could cause offence and asking her to either remove it or edit it. I just think that to immediately report someone/delete when probably what they've said is a slipup and NOT meant unkindly is a just a very underhand and sneaky thing to do! but there you go, I always become indignant when I feel someone is being 'got at' without being given a chance to defend themselves.
