Hi Mo, and everyone

not long now before we go away :-)

Our furnace acted up on the first cold day we had .......... that was Sunday last week.

It had been acting up for some weeks, but that day it just refused to come on ............... until 10 pm in the evening. Then we were scared to turn it down.

The repairman came the next morning, only a couple of hours after OH had phoned him. The house was lovely and warm 'cos the furnace was still working

s**d's law, eh???

Man said it might be difficult ...... but it turned out that we had a fairly new furnace, and 2 LED lights told him something was wrong. He found it, fixed it, and was out of the house in less than 15 minutes!

Oh no, our little thread is dropping down the boards, so >>>>>>>>>up we go.
Sylvia, have a safe journey, just in case we miss each other before you depart. Enjoy yourselves with little man, who by now is not so little. Have fun on the train, and hopefully you will make some new acquaintances on the journey.

Tomorrow night, I am off for my annual christmas meal with my dart team. I do hope the wind drops by then, coz it's a flippin cold one, and my dress has not got any sleeves, so our will come my fake fur jacket...got to keep warm dontcha know.

Take care all. Mo

Hello everyone, hope that you are all okay and keeping warm in this cold and windy weather that we are all having here. Although some parts of the country are having it a lot worse than us here in S E Derbyshire, so I suppose I shouldn't moan about it.

Mo, Ann and Jean thank you for your Christmas cards. We have received quite a lot of cards already....it seems to me that everyone is sending their cards. earlier this year.

Mo, hope you and your friends from the darts team enjoy your Christmas meal tomorrow night, Let's hope that it won't be as cold and windy for you.....wrap up warm to travel there,

Sylvia, hope that you and OH have safe and good journey to your daughter's and that you will all have a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Take care of yourselves.

Jean, I hope that the doctor has given J something for his chest and that he is starting to feel a bit better.

Ann. hope that you and T are both okay. Are you staying at home for Christmas this year or going to your daughter's? You have probably told us already, but I have missed it , with not having been on here as much as I would like to be

Huia, hope that the problems with your server is now sorted and that you won't get any more trouble with it.

Marie, hope that you and your family are all okay. I expect that you are all looking forward to Christmas, especially the children.

Jeniwren, if you are looking in, hope that all is okay with you and your family.

Mo in Kent Report 13 Dec 2014 20:58

Oh I do hope Sylvia has an enjoyable time with the family, I missed saying cheerio to her last night.

Sallie, good to hear from you my love.
Well our meal was a disappointment, my Duck was tough and I couldn't eat it. Mine was not the only one, and when we complained, we were told that the chef had got staff to check the duck, and they said it was fine, so we were offered any other meat we wanted, but we had decided we wanted duck, and nothing else was suitable for us. So a few of us opted for just having the vegetables instead.
We were told it would be deducted from our meals, but the meals were per-paid, so we never got a refund.
Then to top it all, I had ordered christmas pudding, and everyone received their desserts, and mine didn't arrive.
The waitress said that the pudding had not been ordered, but we had the proof in the paperwork we had submitted, so eventually I did get it, but for goodness sake, we have never had this many problems when we had been before, so why this year, unless they had a new chef that could be the only explanation.
Not sure if we will be going there again after that fiasco.
The group was very good, and the dancing following the meal, but I was so disappointed with my meal.

Today, we went to one of our daughters, for Roly to change her light fitting in her lounge.
Oh what problems he had with it, thats the problems with older terraced houses.
Before we left, I put tomorrows meat in the oven, and forgot the darned joint was cooking........six hours later, we arrived home to a dried up joint, oh well, back to the start again tomorrow, and hopefully I wont forget it again, I suppose we were lucky it didn't catch fire LOL

Brr it's so cold here again, can't wait till the summer comes back..LOL
Bye for now girls, take care.

Sallie Report 13 Dec 2014 23:06

Mo, sorry that that you didn't enjoy your meal last night, such a shame as you had all been looking forward to it for a while. Well thank goodness you eventually had your Christmas pudding after having to prove that you HAD ordered it.

We go for our annual Christmas meal next Saturday night, hope it will be alright, There are fourteen of us going, it's our usual ' ladies night out ', so looking forward to it.

We have a busy week coming up, we are going up to Alun's sister's on Monday and then down to my brother'son Friday to see my sister-in-law and two of my cousins. I shall miss seeing my brother this time as he is still in St, Helena until the beginning of February. So far we only have Tuesday where we haven't got to go anywhere,so hope to put our tree up then.

It's been very cold and very frosty here today, the frost hasn't lifted all day. After going out this morning it was nice to get home and stay in, in the warm.

I hope everyone else is okay and keeping warm.

Speak to you all soon.

Love, Sallie .xxx <3

AnninGlos Report 14 Dec 2014 13:20

Yesterday was a beautiful day here, blue skies and sunshine all day although a chilly wind. today is grey, looks like rain later and a very cold wind. Yesterday we went to the docks to the Christmas market which was very good. I have put photos on facebook and will put them on the blog in a minute.
today we have just popped out to the local garden centre.

Mo what a shame the meal was not good. I hope somebody has written to the manager and said that it is unlikely that you will be returning next year. These dos are important to people and restaurants should not think they can get away with poor customer service. As for the dispute over your pudding, I hope they apologised for the mistake which was embarrassing for you and was their fault.

Sallie, enjoy seeing all your family this week and I hope you enjoy your meal next weekend. We have a week of appointments, OH has 2 dental appointments, we both have hair appointments and I have hearing clinic, hopefully to get my new aids.

Christmas is fast approaching and next Sunday we go up to our daughter's. There will be 7 of us Christmas day, her youngest joins us on Christmas Eve, and Christmas day the married couple join us for the day. It is going to be bitter sweet as, sadly, our son in law has had lung cancer since last October when he was given one to two years to live. His health has deteriorated rapidly this past month so we know this will be his last Christmas. However we are intent on it being a good Christmas, as daughter says a few tears and some laughs. It is all very difficult for us as parents though but we shall get through it together. Especially hard as he was always the cook in the family and produced lovely christmas meals and now is not able to do the cooking at all.

Oh Ann, how sad for you all, but extra hard for your daughter knowing that this will probably be their last Christmas together as a couple.
I hope you have a truly memorable time, as you say, with plenty of laughter and joy, creating good memories for you to look back on.

Sallie, both you and Alun are going to be busy bees this week. I hope you get a few days in which to recover before the big day.
You will have a wonderful reunion with your brother on his return, and no doubt you will be in his thoughts and prayers.

Hugs to you all, Mo

AnninGlos Report 15 Dec 2014 17:20

Thank you Mo, for us it is all about making memories for our daughter and grandsons. Son in law will be his usual stoical self, although I know he is getting frustrated at having to rely on people more as he loses the power in his legs. He is 62 and daughter is 53, they have had 26/7 years together but it is nowhere near long enough, they are so well matched and so happy together. It is heartbreaking for us all. But we will not let that spoil Christmas, it will be a good one to be all together. <3

Hi girls,

Jean sorry to hear that you are all still struggling with coughs and colds. I don't know if it is just me, but I'm sure that coughs and colds didn't last as long years ago as they seem to now.

Hope that you will all feel a lot better over Christmas so that C and family will be able to visit you.

Ann, glad to read on Shaun's thread that you and T had arrived safely at your daughter's. I hope that you will all have a happy and peaceful Christmas. Will be thinking about you all.

Mo, hope that all is well with you and Roly. Are you having to cook the Christmas dinner for you and some of your family this year?

I expect Lilly is getting really excited now and can't wait for Santa to arrive, bless her. I can imagine all the excitement on Christmas morning at their house.

We have had a busy time last week, we were in Yorkshire last Monday and then in Abergavenny on Friday, visiting and swapping Christmas presents with Alun;s family and then with my family.

Richard and Christie are coming on Christmas Eve until Boxing Day, has he is working the day after Boxing Day. Really looking forward to seeing them both.

Huia, are you still having problems with your internet? I haven't seen you on the treads very much at all.

Marie, hope that all is well with you and your family.

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.<3 <3 <3

Love and Best Wishes.

Take Care.

Mo in Kent Report 22 Dec 2014 16:35

Sallie, I am cooking for six of us christmas dinner time, and then catering for 25 in the evening.
Thankfully I don't have to cook dinner for us all at at lunch time. LOL My dining room table would not seat us all.
We had Lilly this morning, so that mummy and daddy could do the big food shop, without having to worry about her getting fed up in the queue, and wanting the loo every five minutes.
She is sooo excited, and kept saying, " I am being a good girl nanny"....I think the threat that Santa does not leave presents for naughty children is working.
She saw some presents that are for Roly and myself, under the tree, and asked what they were, when grandad told her, her response was, "you can open them now if you want," LOL saucy little minx.
Richard is lucky not to have to work boxing day this year, our son has to go in, as yet another sale is starting, thats all they seem to be having lately, but it does help with his commision at the end of the month.
I must remember to get the meat out of the freezer tomorrow, so that I can cook it christmas eve, or we wont have any dinner at all.

Well my friends, just in case I don't get the opportunity before the big day, I would like to wish you all, A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS, AND A HEALTHY NEW YEAR.

Take care, enjoy your day, hugs to you all, Mo xxx

Hi there, just to say I am still in the land of the living, but GR is driving me mad. The format is all wrong and when I try to get it on Google Chrome I cant. It was all wrong with another webpage, but I can get that on GC. A visit to the PC hospital is called for I think, when the new year comes. It is too tiring trying to read the pages on GR.

A week ago I was in a garden centre and suddenly the whole place was going round and round and down I went. I think it was dehydration from the heat. I did go to the doc 4 days later and after she asked me a lot of questions and took my BP (normal) she agreed it was probably dehydration. I need to take more water with my water.

Hi all from a bright Lake District with lots of snow on Coniston.

Christmas day was as good as it could be given the circumstances, it was lovely to watch Luke who didn't have all his presents here but loved what he did have. The adults did very well too.

Things are not very good with SiL we are thinking maybe days rather than weeks now. One Grandson is going to stay (and one lives up here of course) if nothing happens to change our plans we shall go home yomorrow and return as soon as w are needed. It is all very sad but he is comfortable in bed st home here which is where he asked to stay. Daughter is so good at caring for him you'd think she was a
nurse. We are so proud of her

The carpet is still not dry in the bedroom wet carpet smells

Sallie Report 27 Dec 2014 20:27

Ann, pleased that you managed to have a nice Christmas was they with things as they were/are. I'm sure having Luke there must have made things a little easier for you all. They are such a joy to watch as they open their presents.

Hope that you will have a safe and good journey home tomorrow, with no weather problems to worry about. Take care.

Mo, hope that you enjoyed Christmas with all your family round you and that 'Santa ' brought you some pressies .that you wanted and more. lol!!

I bet Lilly was thrilled with what she had and and happy and excited to have all the family there.

I'm sure that you must be shattered and happy to be able to relax after catering and entertaining so many on Christmas.

Jean, hope that all is well with you and your family and that you all enjoyed your Christmas. Also hope that C could visit you yesterday.

I actually made a birthday card on Christmas Eve and for the first time in a long while
I was pleased with it,so it looks as though things are slowly improving, thank goodness

We had a lovely Christmas with the family, it was nice to be all together. Richard and Christie went home yesterday afternoon. Glad they did now, as we had snow a couple of hours later, we only had 2-3 inches, but it froze, so the roads have been very icy today and with it being the Christmas holidays we don't have any gritters out, well apart from on the motorway.

Huia, nice to see you posting on here again, hope that your computer won't give you any more trouble from now on.

Also hope that you enjoyed a peaceful Christmas.

Not sure when Sylvia is due home, but hope that her and her OH had a nice Christmas with their daughter and her family,

If you are looking in Sylvia, hope you have a safe and enjoyable journey home.

Well take care everyone.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love and best wishes.
