Hi David and yes Sid was in Hancocks Half Hour.

How about this for a postal service. I was speaking to Rambling Rose on a thread and said I would send her some snowdrops and bits out of the garden as she has a new garden with no bulbs. I posted them yesterday afternoon in Holsworthy at about 3.30pm. She got them this morning in Telford!!!!

Glad Ian is home Liz, I am sure he will feel better in himself, now he's home.

Great minds think alike Jane, I had an Egg and Bacon sarnie about noon, Ros had a Jacket Potato.

You girls and the showers, think what it was like for us. Some built like BRICK Sh##houses some as thin as a rake with whatsits to go with them.

I think you will find that the Paddle steamers were used to evacuate troops from France (DUNKIRK)

Going to watch a bit of tele, before turning in for a read.

See you tomorrow.

Evening David. How are things? You have been fairly quiet recently.
Sid James and Hattie Jaques (sp) were in the film.Hattie was quite slim!!!!! compared to later life.Hattie ran a Rival Taxi business ,run by gorgeous girls.Sid ran the old black cabs.I did enjoy it.
I think I will shut down here soon.Just cleared up from dinner and now feel totally stuffed.Chris had double helping of pudding( now feels sick lol) serves him right.

MORNING,

I went to have a read last night and my E BOOK reader battery was out. Had to put in on charge through the computer all night.

Couldn't settle in bed, thinking of loads of old musical songs. Which then bought my dad to mind. It's 53 years today since he died, and I remember it as thought it was last year. Police knocking on the door at 3am having to get to the phone box to call my brother who had a van, to come and collect us. We had to drive about 10 miles in thick fog, to Whitechapel hospital. Dad was on his last legs, and when he went. the nurse climbed on the bed to try to bring him back. I lifted her off of him, and said leave him in peace.

It's also my Daughters 47 birthday, the one I never see. So I've got a good day ahead of me.

Sorry for the opening post to be so misserable.

Morning Frank ,Mel and anyone

Oh Frank.I wondered the other day when you started talking about your Dad if it might be the anniversary coming up,and now your Daughters birthday. No wonder you feel a little maudlin (is that the right word). You have the family coming for dinner today haven't you.I'm sure you will a bit more upbeat then. And you have that Roast to cook !!

It looks quite nice outside. No wind today but I see the bird bath is still frozen so I had better go and sort that out.

I hope Ian has had a good sleep in his own bed and is gently up and about.

I Need to go and fill up the nut container outside. it's those flippin squirrels not happy enough to get the nuts but chewing their way through the container now, and the nuts keep falling out through the hole in the bottom.

Morning everyone

Liz good to hear that Ian is home and I hope you both had a good nights rest. Now that he is home he can begin to recover quietly.
Frank I hope you have a good day and thanks for the jokes.

Had a very busy day yesterday but now the panto is over for another year. Alan has gone off to strike the set this morning and then we are off to lunch at the pub.
Andy Murrey is busy losing the tennis, I am listening to it on the radio as I cannot bear to watch.
Talking of sport I was pretty pathetic at schoolbut I did enjoy fencing and loved 10pin bowling. Was even in Herts Police county team for awhile but then I had my back problems and that was the end of that.
Now I am happy to watch all sport and have applied for tickets for the Olympics.
Murrey has just lost oh dear

Nurse has just left. Plenty of gung from the HOLE but she say's it's the dressing packed in it that draws the mess out. She's happy with it.

Done all the veg, cheese sauce, meat ready to go on about 2.30pm. gravy made also. So will sit down in the conservatory and watch a bit of sport (If any is on) if not read my book.

Hope you are all well, and that Ian had A GOOD NIGHT. Liz.

A day of memories for you then Frank, just got to think of the good ones .

We're having a lazy day ,not going out anywhere ,if the weather had been a bit better we might have gone to the coast .

Hi Everyone. Thank you all for your concern and good wishes. Frank I loved the .up-loads!! I certainly passedon the pensioner one, it's quite outrageous! but why aren't we surprised!! The news WAS bad from here but has now perked up, it's amazing what a District Nurse and an enema can do!!!!!! Yesterday evening my 'Poor old Soul' sat on the Loo for about half an hour with no result!! (sorry about gory details!!) his catheter was leaking round the edges, oh dear, what a mess! finally got to bed, Ian in a lot of pain from wind and pressure on the catheter; so had an 'up and down' night , to the loo, more severe pain, and lots of tears. This morning about 6.30pm I'd had enough, so I rang the surgery, out of hours!!!!! I was pushed onto NHS Direct, or whatever it calls itself, who were SO rude and unhelpful, asking me SO many questions, and then telling me that they don't send anybody out, and if I wanted help, to ring for an Ambulance, so I did just that, and they were SO kind and helpful, as nice as the other B....ch was nasty. THEY finally organised the District Nurse to come out, and. as they say, do the business, which she did most efficiently, and now Ian feels SO much better, and has a piece of toast and two cuppa's. He's asleep at the moment and MAY have a shower later, we'll see!! To be honest Frank, I thought of you!! when this NHS saga was going on, as I know you don't put up with any crap!!!! Lucky I know you!!! Told Laura, and she said that she's had the same thing, in fact "Don't even go there Mum" Frank, I think we all get low on Anniversary days, when Ian was away and so ill I found myself feeling really cross and tearful with my mother for dying and leaving me on my own!!! she's been gone 25 years and would now be nearly 93!!!! I, of course, remember her as being about 60, if that, and a great source of strength and comfort in times of stress!! not 93 and VERY old and probably confused if she were alive. Mel, it know seems that my contact with a Restall rellie may not be one after all! isn't that a shame?! mind you coming from Northleach, with that surname, it's bound to be a branch of the same family, but apparently not mine! Oh well, not to worry, it was interesting finding out more Have done lots of washing, and Millie is finally snoring, so must check dinner in, guess what? you've got it, the Crock Pot!!! chicken and veg, should be nice!

Yes Frank got your emails. well the sun is still out but it is also still vrty cold outside. I had to bring all the water containers in last night from the chickens as I knew they would all be frozen solid this morning.

Doing chicken breast tonight for us wrapped in bacon with a phili cheese and garlic filling. Shall use the rest of the cheese as a sauce. Nice and quick.

Frank Thanks for the messages. Found myself singing as it said I would.

Liz pleased to know that Ian feeling better now but what trauma for you both.

Jane Yes strike does mean dismantle and it was done in super quick time.
Mel I had two spelling of the Kelly name ( Kelley which I have now disregarded).
Certainly looks as though we are on the right track and Durham backs it up.
Had a lovely lunch of roast beef and all the trimmings followed by spotted dick and custard, I cannot resist nursery puds!!
We are both now relaxing and plan to do nothing for the rest of the day.

Evening All,

Thanks for the emails Liz and Frank.........I love a chuckle!!

Liz, you poor thing. What a torrid time for you and Ian and thank goodness they got the District Nurse organised to come and calmly sort things out. No wonder people are reluctant to use NHS Direct and do things like go straight to A &E instead. I hope Ian is feeling a lot better now, he's really been through the mill hasn't he.

I hope you are feeling more cheerful with the family around Frank. Some images seem to stay imprinted in our minds, no matter how much we don't want them to. Good that the nurse is happy with Ros's wound.

I was only mentioning on Friday about the lady I worked with dying last July ..........picked up the paper yesterday.........her husband died last Tuesday, only 6 months later!! I couldn't believe it. She was such a driving force at work and at home it makes me wonder how well he could cope after she died. So sad, no retirement together. Their son would only be about age 33.

Did anyone else see the film about Hattie's life that was on tv a few weeks ago? My word, I was quite shocked what a minx she was!!! She stayed in the same house as her husband, sleeping in her lover's bed!! Her very own 'Carry on'.....lol. Don't know how they managed to stay friends but they did.
