Christmas is so magical for children. believing in father christmas, sadly the age when they know it's not true seems to get younger and younger.
You'll have to wait for grandchildren Jane before James and Hannah will want to do Christmas in their own home. I can't remember the last time we had Christmas here.
Going over to sons later for dinner, his partner does a really nice roast, that's dinner sorted for today :-D

You soud as though you have had a busy morning Jane!!
I still have the Christmas lights up in the kitchen from last year as oh did'nt take them down in time and any decs left up have to stay up the year round. I shall have them on tonight now!! :-D :-D :-D
I have a Merry Christmas sign on the mirror in the hall too and am going to put up my card strings after I have washed up as I now have a few cards to put up. They are on the plate shelf at the mo.

Maureen I think it is going to be a long long time before any Grandchildren arrive.I will probably be in a home by that time lol
Chris has just gone for the second time in an hour to B&*.Our doorbell has been hit and miss for ages.Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.He thought it was the battery, but I said just get a new bell.Oh no ,he just came back with a new battery.Put it in and yes it rang.......ONCE. So now he has gone for a bell.He isn't a happy chappy. But he should have listened to me (the wise one) and bought a new bell on his first trip.(MEN.They never listen) :-D :-S

Jane thats because they always know best!! I don't think but you can't tell them that.
Well I got the washing up done and then decided to clean the window over the sink after tidying all the plants on the shelf. Then tidied the other sides sort of dresser units and now I have space!!!!!!!!!! It looks much bigger without all the clutter on top that seems to accumulate without you noticeing. Anyway it all looks better now. Oh is having a sleep I think so I had better shut the girls in and then make a cuppa and scones.

I bashed my friend over the head with one of my stilts when she told me that Father Christmas didn't exist. It's strange but I can remember that so clearly .I was horrified that she was telling me such a lie that I whacked her one :-S.Then I ran into the house and told Mum what Johanna had said.Poor Mum then had the difficult thing of telling me that actually Johanna was right and that I was old enough to know the truth. I am still not old enough..... Father Christmas does exist :-D :-D :-D

YOUR programme is on Jane. I will sit and watch Rod Stewart a bit later.
When my two were young. We always got them up and feed and dressed before letting them in the lounge. They had an armchair each with the sack on and presents all around. I always left the heating on Christmas eve, and the Tree lights on. Dangerous I know, but didn't think about it then.
Ros wouldn't let me near the steps today. She put all the lights round the bungalow all by herself !!! I stayed indoors preparing dinner. A nice leg of port with all the trimmings. We had is at 5.30 I did most of the washing up as I dished up. Ros finished off, while I had a doze ion the armchair.
At one time this afternoon the wind got up to gale force. It blew the light tree over, I had to find some stakes to secure it. Then the wind went as quick as it came. Mandy it seemed a bit unfair for you to throw away your ball. Can't you recover it now he's gone.
Lewis rang this afternoon. His team won 6-1 and he scored a hatrick. So proud of him. and he was a chuffed as can be.
Jane, Chris is like me. I had a door bell that started to play up so replaced the batteries, and still it wouldn't work. BOUGHT one on Ebay ONE PENCE plus postage from China. It worked a treat, then started playing up. The reason was. The woman down the road. didn't just push the bell push once, she kept her finger on it. The poor thing didn't know if it was coming or going. It's fine again now. BUT. Ros in her wisdom bought a new one from B & # and it sits in the garage, unopened.
Have a good evening and stay warm.

Evening All,
Yes, I used to like watching Patrick Moore too. I attended a lecture he did at the University about 8 years ago and he was wearing his monocle! He looked just the same as on TV and really knew his stuff and talked with such enthusiasm. He always looked a bit shambling with his hair a bit squiffy......a bit eccentric which he was!
Jane.....re the doorbell.....I can just imagine the same conversation here!! :-S I remember when we moved here OH INSISTED that the bathroom sink had the slatted effect worktop that the builder suggested. I said it would look awful, wear quickly, be a nightmare to clean etc, but he INSISTED, saying that I mostly used the ensuite so It didn't really matter to me!! lol. Well, after about 12 months I heard those magic words we don't hear often 'You were RIGHT'. If only they trusted us to start with!!
Another thing he likes to do is 'SURPRISE' me by getting something 'done' while I am out!! Once, when we were going to change the utility around and put a fridge freezer in there, he thought he would 'SURPRISE' me by taking out the big broom cupboard where the fridge freezer was to go.When I got home he was so chuffed to show me the big space he had created!! No mention of the blobs of white filler on the kitchen walls where he'd knocked lumps off dragging the cupboard out!!! Still, at least he'd filled the holes.......usually my job as well as the repainting!!
What a shame about your sparkle ball Mandy......I thought it would look good with bits of holly stuck between the cups too with the lights shining from behind. Still, once someone puts us off something.......the bin it has to be!! :-S I think I might fetch it out again if it was me!!
Frank, we had that sudden wind about 12.30pm and then a few minutes later it went as well. We were in the car and just assumed we'd driven out of it. I'm glad Ros persuaded you to keep off the steps with your bad knee.......she did well to get the lights up herself though.
It is good they sorted your cholesterol before it got higher William. Like Mel says, raised levels can be genetic. I worked with a girl whose BIL had a heart attack under the age of 40. He had sky high levels and so did his brother (her hubby) when they tested him. They started him on medication but he had to change his diet and lifestyle too, which also helped his wife shed a lot of weight which pleased her no end!!! lol. OH has migraines without the headache, but gets zigzagging light flashes in his eyes so he can't drive or read. Luckily the over counter meds work very well for him but he feels absolutely washed out and tired afterwards. I hope Carmel soon feels a bit better, it's miserable feeling unwell.
Fried bread Mel!!! I used to love fried egg on fried bread as a child, but I haven't had fried bread for years.......even have dry toast with my poached eggs now. Boo hoo.....love buttered toast too.

Ann I like a bit of toast with my butter too!!! :-S :-S :-S do have buttered toast sometimes and then feel guilty afterwards. I must admit it is not very often now. I usually just have specal K red berries for brekky. I do have buttered toast if I have two boiled eggs for dinner when oh is out.
I did'nt want Jsmes to win X Factor, I liked little Jarmene? if thats how you spell it. We have to watch it as oh likes it. I don't really and play games on the pc. Still it is finished for another year now.
Got Rod Stewart on at the mo but think I may see what else is on the box box or the true movie channel as they have had some Christmas films on lately and at least they don't have any swearing in them. I think that is so unnessesary??sp?

My main memory of Christmas's long ago was going to Midnight Mass - for me it was the beginning of Christmas and absolutely magical - when I was very small and my Granny was alive, my parents went ot the 12.00 while she and I went to church on Xmas morning; After she died I was 12 and joined the 'grownups'. I liked Easter morning too, but nothing beat the midnight. Mind you for me the music was a big draw. I don't think I could stay awake now, so it's back to Christmas morning! What goes round, comes round!!!
