Sleeting out there now !!
Frank, you have a nice little covering of snow in the garden !!

Do take care tonight William, watch the roads, hope you win a prize.

Maureen , throats much better today thanks ,hubby is a bit croaky now ,blames me for passing it on :-S i was brought up to share :-D :-D
Fingers crossed you don't get the snow so you can get out to enjoy your christmas lunch tomorrow.

Made a nice Bread and Butter Pudding ,only dropped it getting it out the oven :-S :-S luckily it was only one end of the dish that broke so i managed to save the pud at the other end ,told hubby he'd had to spit out any crunchy bits :-D :-S

I want to have a look at Look East tonight because they were still filming in the town as we drove through and i think we might be on film :-S look out for a blue Citroen!!
the reporter was talking to camera as we drove pass.

OMG
My nephew .Williams Daddy has been in a crash.Luckliy he is ok but terribly bruised.
He hit a patch of black ice and his car spun across the road into an on coming lorry. The lorry hit the passenger door which caved in totally and the car was tossed into a ditch.Michel had to be pulled out through the boot :-0 :-0.The poor lorry driver thought he had killed Michel.......I doesn't bare thinking about ,what might have happened.

My washing has just been collected :-D :-D.I had it ready in 2 bags .Hugo (the man ) then put in a big linen bag and weighed it on scales (on a hook). He will bring it back tomorrow night .
Tomorrow afternoon the man from the company who supply the dehumidifiers/fans is coming to see how dry we are now.
I was just thinking if we had had this freezing weather when we were flooded :-S :-S :-S.YIKES!

Frank

Frank Report 5 Dec 2012 19:40

Jane, If you had the freezing weather earlier, you could have charged people to skate on your lawns :-D :-D :-D I hope you are dried out enough to have those machines taken away. They must cost a bomb to run. Think of all the money you will save.

Will, No doubt you have mentioned it before, but what type of models do you make.??

What a terrible thing to happen to Williams Daddy. Hope he recopvers soon, and manages to get mobile soon. Is the car a right off ???

Nice Roast lamb tonight, four veg and Roasts, STUFFED to the gills.

Hope you don't get the snow tonight, there is plenty around, and the Temp. is going down to MINUS Six So be careful if you are going out.

Jane

Jane Report 5 Dec 2012 20:02

Frank ,the car is a total right off.It was his girlfriends new car.He only drove it this morning as his car had a flat tyre.If that lorry had hit on the drivers side Michel would no longer be with us.
The electric used on drying out is on the insurance ,so no worries there. The cost of drying out last time was £460 !!!!.This will be peanuts compared to that I hope.I don't think we will get a dry certificate tomorrow though.
You had a fair bit of snow Frank. We have had none. The heating will be left on tonight. The new pump that has been fitted today is silent :-D :-D :-D.

I feel pooped and have done not a lot lol. Dinner dished up soon an a fairly early night I think.

MillymollyAmanda Report 5 Dec 2012 20:20

Oh my word Jane it doesn't bear thinking about what might have happened ,thank goodness little William wasn't in the car with him, very frightening for everyone involved

We now have a light covering of the old white stuff!! :-S

Annx Report 5 Dec 2012 20:48

So I won't need a note then Frank cos William says so!! :-P lol. If the guards are 'nice' I might want to stay there anyway. ;-) I see you have had quite a bit of snow, but there has been nothing here as yet. Now Mandy has some too!!

It was freezing this morning but I walked up to the village for the papers (a mile and a half there and back) and it was uphill going so I was boiling hot by the time I got there. Thank goodness it was downhill most of the way back. We went to see the film and really enjoyed it despite there having been some lukewarm reviews. There were quite a few in the cinema today.........too many eating boiled sweets wrapped in twists of the noisiest cellophane! :-|

Glad your throat is improving Mandy.......OH says he has a sore throat coming so I'm giving him a wide berth! How is your BIL's knee coming along? I think it is nice to see parades like that. It helps to remind us what is going on in the world and about those who are risking their lives.

William, I hope you take care driving tonight.........have you said what you make models of......I can't remember? :-S

Maureen, wrap up warm for your Christmas Lunch tomorrow and watch your step if it's icy, especially after imbibing a few warming drinkie poos. ;-)

Glad the party went without disaster Kim, perhaps she took notice of what mum said!

Oh Jane, what a fright for your nephew and his family. Still at least no-one was hurt although he must have been badly shaken up. We were tempted not to insure to drive each other's cars in the past, as it was hardly ever necessary but we always did and I can remember him charging off in my car leaving me to sort his flat tyre on one or two occasions. I wondered why you didn't use a launderette for your washing. Now you have 'Hugo' you won't want to go back to doing your own 'smalls'. lol :-D

Jane

Jane Report 5 Dec 2012 22:19

Well I am off to bed now.Chris and James have been long gone.I am leaving the heating on tonight ,just need to turn the thermostat down.
Ann I missed what film you were going to.What was it??.I think they should ban cellophane wrapped sweets lol. They always seem to take people ages to unwrap them in the cinema...crackle crackle :-S
Thinking of William driving home from Coventry this evening.I bet Carmel will be on edge with these icy conditions.

Night Night all x

William Report 6 Dec 2012 09:37

Morning all,a quick burst before breakfast. Yes, safe and sound home last night, the roads weren't too bad, they were nice and dry and I stayed on the main ones. Succesful night, my entry won a first in it's section. I'll try and email out a photo of it later in the day. I hope I get all the email addresses right.

Not got to go out today, it looks a freezer out there anyway. May have a walk just for some exercise, drop off one or two cards, kill two birds etc.

I was thinking about our family home in Chadwell Heath yesterday. My grandson was talking about the agents who he rents his flat from, I think they are all crooks, and they have names for things which are total hoodwinks. Our house in C H had a tiny kitchen, it was really the passage from the hall throughto the back door! It was described as a 'kitchenette', I think these days they call it a 'galley kitchen'! I imagine when it ws built it had one of those copper boilers for your washing in the rear corner. There was a chimney on the roof above there, but there was nothing else that lined up with that chimney. The sink was there when we lived there. I think I twigged on when I moved up here to the Midlands. I did an insurance round and one lady I called on still did her washing in one of those copper boilers with one of those wooden 'dollies' - I think they were called. There were still a lot of miners around here then and I loved to hear the tales the wives came up , where they'd come from, what their lives had been like etc. A lot came down from Durham and I loved the Geordie accent. Another lady came from the Wrekin area, and told me how the expression, 'all around the Wrekin' came about.

Anyway, enough driveling on, off to get some brekky.

C Y A L, stay warm, especially you Jane

Oh Jane I have just read your post about the accident. I do hope he is ok and only bruised. What a shock and if the car is a right off and it was the new one he should get paid quite a bit. It could have been awful and thank God he is alright.

Morning all/Evening Kim.

Another very cold night last night. The snow hasn't moved. I crepted out to the garage this morning, and crunch, crunch, under foot. Must go out with the salt !!!

We haven't got to go out today, so the heating is on, and I will settle down with my book. The walk with the cards can wait, also the outside lights.

I have sent my Christmas card to you all. IF (and I hope I haven't) missed anybody PLEASE PLEASE let me know. So look out for my Ecard. The reason I choose this one from many is that as a 6 year old I was one of the three wise men, in the school play. and I still sing it at this time of year. MEMORIES

Glad you had a good evening Will. What was your prize.???

Ann, You watch out, for what you might like with the guard room. Some of them were not very nice.!!! Also I might outrank william SO THERE :-P :-P :-P So don't get cocky :-D :-D :-D

Must go and feed the birds, they are scratching around trying to find some food. Will also have to change the water.

We had a Christmas card from our Indian Restaurant at Stoke Bruerne. in it is a voucher for £10.00. for eating in. So will will pop over one day next week. It will be a cheap evening, as we only usualy have a main meal.

I tried to wrap up a present yesterday while Ros was out, what a mess I made I made of it. My right hand didn't seem to weant to grip[ the box, the wrapping in terrible. Will have to get someone to do it for me.

Afternoon everyone,

Brrrrr it's a cold one today ,little bit of snow about on the roof but the paths are clear we didn't get that much last night .
To cold for hubby to work so he's been helping me with the christmas tree ,just a few more bits to put out and then the outside lights to do which can be done another day.

Frank, i haven't had your E card :-( think you have the right idea staying put in the warm today .

Glad you got home safely last night William, Well Done on your win ,what was your prize ?

Frank, why don't you use a nice christmas bag for the present ,much easier than tying to juggle with wrapping paper, just wrap some coloured tissue paper round the present then pop in the bag, job done !!

Just off to Tes*o's to do bit of shopping .

At Last .I didn't seem to have had a signal all morning. So I gave up trying and did some jobs around the place.
I have been just watching the Gt Spotted Woodpecker on the Coconut just outside the Patio door.I have tried to get a couple of photos but the battery sign was flashing so I don't know if they will come out.I have seen the bird there twice today. And I have Squirrels back again.I saw them hanging off the Peanut Ball down the garden. They were too far away for me to see if one might be my Earless Wonder.Maybe they will find the coconut ,then I will be able to see.
Just waiting now for Chris to get in and then I will be off to do a bit of Christmas shopping.Frank I know you have trouble with wrapping. Was it last year you chucked the sellotape across the room?????
I am hopeless at wrapping too even though .Always seem to make a pigs ear :-S
Must go and get changed and make my list.So I'll BBL

I think it's time for a bowl of soup and a roll and butter.

Hi everyone, sorry to keep you all in suspense. You maybe disappointed to know the prize was a trophy to keep for a year and a certificate. I'm going to try to email you all photos of this item and the trophy etc. No money or holiday in Las Vegas, just the honour of it. There are various categories which may sound a bit anorak to you all but, hey, it keeps me off the streets.
I have been collecting model vehicles, toys, motoring ephemera (good word eh?), books, postcards and alls sorts motoring history related since the early 70's. All sparked off by a visit to the National Motor Museum at Beualiue around that time and in the knowledge that, unlike Chris Evans, I wouldn't be amasing an array of collectors cars full scale. I can park my 1500 or so models safely within our house and I don't have to pay road tax or fuel costs.
The models I make, or as we say 'chop, scratch build, repaint, convert or make dioramas is all icing on the cake. The model I'm hoping I can show you all this time is a replica of a Triang Minic garage from circa is post war, probably early 50's, it as made by Triang to complement their clockwork, tinplate vehicles.
If this interests you at all, I can show you others I've made in the past, some I'm sure you'll find very amusing or interesting. Most of them have one one prize or another.
Right, I'm off to do this email thingy, if you don't get a copy and would like to seeit, let me know.

Here goes - - - - :-\

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Dec 2012 16:29

Ooooooo Will they are really lovely. I would'nt like to have to dust all your cars and lorries etc. I see some are behind glass.

Still have'nt done much today as I keep having to do other things. Still I have picke dsome more holly and finished one wreath. I am now going to shut the chickens in and then add a bit more to my stew for tonight which is smelling lovely and I only have to dump some dough boys in to finish it off.

I have just realized that it is Thursday already!!!!! :-| :-| where did that week go????????

William

William Report 6 Dec 2012 16:36

Mel, they are nearly all behind glass. I opened some of the glass sliders to stop the flash from reflecting and causing a blurr. There's not very much dust gets in. Actually, that is the wrong trophy, the one I should have had is still with last years winner and as he lives a long way away, he couldn't make it back for last nights competition. It will turn up someday, then my name has to be added for this year.
