Good morning all.

Ann, just want to say how lovely the photos were that you emailed. Cheered me up no end to see a bit of sunshine. Well done. Think you should go professional or make a calendar out of them, felt like I was there.
Also Ann, had to drive over to Hinckley yesterday morning to arrange our Carers Group Xmas dinner at the Marina restaurant. Just off the A5 roundabout there was one of those yellow road signs they use for road works etc. It had on the top HINCKLEY TIN HAT . . - How about that then, it's official.

Wasn't the Police voting a shambles - and no surprize there! We did a postal vote but when the form came there three names on it and we only got one leaflet about one of the nominees. No wonder folk can't be bothered if those running for election can't be bothered either...

Watched C I N last night, big Pudsey fans here. Not sure if it was any better or any worse than other years. We did get fed up after the news at 10 when the same clips were being shown. We thought they could have used those slots to promote other well deserved causes. Just our opinion, donation gone in anyway.

Off to put the toaster on, C Y A L, have a DRY day (that doesn't mean no vino collapso Frank LOL)

It is a very dull morning, still mild and no fog.

I think when the men get here I will go and get my shopping and then it will be ironing until they go.That is an exciting day :-D :-S

Has anyone any thoughts about Halogen Ovens? We are toying with the idea of getting one, but are a bit undecided, so am doing some research!!! Not a bad day here so I think that the hedge will be 'tackled' again!

Morning Friends,

Dull sort of day out there, I haven't been out yet, but looked very still and I think it will be mild. They say FROST tonight, and sunshine tomorrow.

We didn't bother to vote on Thursday. My feelings were if they couldn't be bothered to let us know who they were and what they were going to do. Then I couldn't be bothered either. The News said it was the worse turnout in Policital History.

More men today then Jane. :-D :-D :-D

Ros is shopping as usual with Martine. I will be gone by the time she gets home. SPURS V CHELSEA. 12.45 kick off. My West Ham play Monday evening so I will be out again..

I have just realised, my dream had something to do with the book I am reading. But not around Derby,Leicester etc. This is in America. Funny how things click into place. Wonder where I will go tonight :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 Hope it's somewhere warm in the tropics !!!

Have sent on a photo of the tree, hope you all got it.

Shower time now.

See you this afternoon/evening.

Men got here at 10.All the papering is finished.loo floor next I think and staining skirtings. The poor lad in the garage who is the plumber is having one heck of a job with one of the dripping pipes(I think this is some seal gone on the stop cock).I don't think he has looked at the other one yet :-S.He has had to take off all the boxing in he did last week.

Now I have to go out again.I did my shopping this morning and came home without tonight's dinner :-| :-|........what a silly billy I am.

Afternoon everyone,

We had a little rain first thing ,now the sun is trying to break through .

Been getting some jobs done this morning ,the blinds have now gone back up the windows that hubby replaced and it will be nice to get all tidy again.

Not much else happening here ,i wouldn't mind having a trip out to the coast tomorrow ,but it will depend what the weather is like .

What a shame your family couldn't come Pat , there seems to be a lot of those sickness bugs about ,DIL's sisters family have all had it this week.

Liz , i haven't seen those Halogen Ovens ,i like my Halogen hob ,nice and quick heat and easy to wipe over .

Frank, pretty little tree , should look nice out the front , i've seen some of those in M*kro's i think .

Oh Jane , i bet he wasn't very happy having to take all the boxing off again :-S
will they get finished today ?

Looks more like rain now :-S

Afternoon Folks,

What a shame your family can't come now Pat......the sickness bug is around here too. :-S That is a clever idea to use the curtains doubled up......will be warmer and how nice not to see the lining one side too.

Mel I bet your fingers will be a bit sore after wiring all of those cones and then the flowers today !! I had one of those fitted long coats too and loved it. With long hair and long fitted boots, they were really cosy in the cold wind. I remember my sister having something similar, but hers was more a chunky tapestry effect material and that was in autumn colours. Dining Chez Mel is becoming the 'in' thing isn't it! It was a good idea to put the flour down to see the prints.

Glad the pics were enjoyed. It was surprising how different the weather was and how pretty the trees were up there.

William, I haven't seen that 'Tin Hat' sign before so I will look out for it next time I'm going that way. I know there is one at the bottom of Church St in Hinckley.

Liz I have been wondering about getting a halogen oven for a year or two now.......they look very good don't they. I think there was a thread on here once about them and some recipes too.

What a twinkly tree Frank.....it will really sparkle!! :-D

What a shame forgetting dinner for tonight Jane......not surprising though with all these MEN coming and going!!! :-D A shame the plumber had to take the boxing off again. It is a good job it has leaked badly enough to be spotted now though rather than do slow damage.

Mandy, a trip to the sea always sounds good! I was going to the bead shop at Lichfield today while OH went to a match but it forecast pouring rain so we changed plans and he went to another match instead. Now it's turned out to be dry all day after all!! :-S

LilyL

LilyL Report 17 Nov 2012 14:33

I've been having a look on line about the 'oven', and you're right Ann, they do look good. I like my halogen hob too Mandy, that's what's making me to and fro over an oven - have to see!!!! not sure wher I'd put it though AND more expense!! Macoroni Cheese here for supper, and hopefully find a decent film to watch, preferably one we haven't see 100 times!!!

Still giving the house a good clean, having all the family round gives me an incentive to get cleaning.

Fantastic photos Ann, that was a good idea of William's, you could have them made into a calendar, would make a lovely Christmas present. My daughter does one for me every year, the theme varies, last year she did it from a lot of old photos of my mum and dad which made a very nostalgic calender. I try not to peak at the next photo until the month is out and I can turn the page.

You will miss all these men in and out of your house Jane once they've finished ;-) I have yet to meet a builder or any trademan that doesn't like a cup of tea. Even my son drinks tea now, he never used to.

Must get on with this HW just the kitchen to do then I'd better start thinking about what should come out of the freezer for tomorrow.

Don't know anything about halogen ovens Liz, what's the difference between them and a conventional oven.

Decided not to get the Christmas tree down yet, it's going to be a bit of a squeeze with 12 of us, 13 counting Chloe anyway. Your outside one looks a picture Frank, I have one in a pot that I bought a couple of years ago, it hasn't grown that much and is a bit lopsided but I've dragged it through to the front and I'll see how it looks with lights on.

Annx Report 17 Nov 2012 15:40

That was why I was interested in a printer that prints on card Maureen. Mine will print on photo paper, but it would be good to have one that would print on card too. I hadn't thought of doing a calendar....good idea.

We are off out tonight to Warwick for an evening with Alan Davies (Johnathan Creek and Q.I. on the telly) I'm not sure what to expect but hopefully he will be good.

Jane

Jane Report 17 Nov 2012 16:20

Yes Frank your tree looks lovely.I like blue lighting.
Shame about tummy bugs Pat .I think there are a fair few different bugs flying around at the moment.

The men are still here :-S.Hopefully on the last leg now. They are full of tea and chocolate doughnuts lol.Thought they better have something to keep their strength up.

I got something for dinner.I was going to go back to Tes** but it looked absolutely heaving so I went into Al** and got some Meatballs and sauce.I hope it will be ok.Got 6 bottles of wine too :-D.I was lucky and got in the queue behind someone who kindly let me go in front as I didn't have much. That was nice of them.Good manners :-D :-D

Ann I hope you enjoy this evening.I'm not sure what Alan Davies is like in a show like that.I do like him on the panel though of QI.I was never a fan of Jonathon Creek.

Maureen ,you are going to have a house full tomorrow aren't you !!!!.Have a wonderful day :-D

I think I will have a sneaky peak and see how things are coming along here.BBL

Jane Report 17 Nov 2012 17:50

Well we are now all done, and the men have gone.Just before they left the plumber said to me to keep an eye on the hot water tank in the airing cupboard !!!!!.He said there is signs of corrosion around the bottom.FGS we have only had it about 10 years after the old one sprung a leak and we had to have the ceiling repaired in the lounge :-S :-S :-S.He said they should last at least 20-25 years.I will be checking that forever now lol.Two new 'cocks' in the garage.A stop cock and a drainage cock :-D.If ~I see any more leaks I shall be booking myself into the local loony bin ;-)
Now it is time for a nice glass of chilled white and think about all the work that needs doing tomorrow .I can't wait to get this fridge out of my lounge, plus the fridge freezer from the garage.
Frank I might be able to get to the Hostess trolley soon :-D :-D

Had pc trouble today and could'nt get on the net.

Did a load of bows for the wreaths and not much else again. The days are so short now and what with having to feed everything and everyone and then wash up I don't seem to have much time left to do what I want to do.

Frank I love the tree. Where did you get it and do they do other colours please?

I need a new cooker. The ovens alright on mine and I only have two rings I can use on the top!! :-S

Evening all, It's that time on Sat. Evening.

Ros is glued to T.V. and eating her Chinese, I don't feel at all hungry so might get something later.

Mel, We had a small booklet pushed throught the door, and the tree was in it.
List price £129.99. Catalogue discount £92.00 So total cost £37.99. The Web site is 24ace.co.uk. They do it in White or Blue., and lots of other things. So worth a look.

I haven't heard of the bug going round this way YET. But like everything else it comes to those who wait :-) :-)

Jane When we had new heating, they did away with the hot water tank. So no worry there. I thought all tanks were COPPER so shouldn't rot. You don't seem to be having a lot of luck with your water system, do you ???

Mandy, They talk of a frost tonight and a bright day to follow, so you might be in luck for your trip to the Coast.

Can't help regards the Halogen cookers. We have a small halogen heater in the lounge which Ros will put on some days, instead of the main heating. They are very good and safe. If you knock it over it turns itself off. There is a plunger switch on the bottom, that if not in contact with a firm surface,it won't work. Ros is talking about a new oven, I haven't mentioned it for ages, so no more has been said ;-) ;-)

Jungle on shortly, will see how Rosemary gets on with the rest of them. That Helen is getting a PAIN IN THE AR##. always pranceing around like a peacock. and not doing anything in the trials. Shes spoiling it for the others, NEVER did like the little MADAM.

Going to put my dressing gown on now and relax with Jungle, then off to bed for a read.

See you in the morning, GOOD NIGHT.

Jane

Jane Report 17 Nov 2012 21:22

I knew you would pop in now Frank LOL
Chris has gone to bed......Thinks I am just watching a load of Cr** tonight :-S.He his pooped after shifting loads of rubbish into the skip......
I really want to stay and watch the Jungle but am fading now.Am struggling to stay awake for the rest of XF.I still have my 2 favourites Ella and Jahmene.
I just think we are doomed with water trouble here :-S.What have we done to deserve it lol.............now the radiator in the downstairs loo is stone cold :-S :-S..I will be on the phone on Monday :-D.I must say though that the men worked their darned socks off today. No complaints there.

I will say Night Night now .I just need to leave a note for James to say not to go in the downstairs loo as grout is drying.May just manage to watch a bit of the jungle :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 17 Nov 2012 21:44

Perhaps they turned the rad off in the downstairs loo Jane because it may have dried the grouting too quickly??

What is David talking about please?

William

William Report 18 Nov 2012 10:25

A very good morning everybody on a bright sunny morning here in Warwickshire. The frost has all but gone and it looks great. :-D

I'm pleased to report that Carmel is feeling a little bit better although all the pain and discomfort hasn't entirely disappeared. We got out and abou yesterday and attended two Christmas bazzars, one in Nuneaton and the other here in Bedworth. We actually bought a few things, some very good bargains, and here in our own town we met several people that we know, or mostly that Carmel knows. So that was nice to get out and about.

Carmel is still having a sleep-in and a catch-up while I start this bit of rabbit. I''ve been down and made myself a nice breakfast of fried bacon, sliced fried tomatoes on a bed of a slice of toast topped with sliced cheese and Branston pickle. Delicious.

Don't know what were doing with ourselves today, have to wait and see. Hope you all have a good day and that it's nice in your pat of the world.

C Y A L :-) ;-)
