Where the heck does arthritis come from?
Seems to wait until your'e old enough to retire or consider retiring and there it is.

Ellen has arthritis in her knees since she retired but has had it for years in her hands, crooked fingers etc.

They call it wear and tear, how come it waits until you slow down?

MIL had rheumatoid arthritis as a result of a fall and spent half her life crippled.

Morning All and Evening Kim,

Been raining here all night I think by the state of the ground outside. The poor chickens are paddling about in their run. One dish of food eaten outside and both the sticks down from the entrance to the box. Hogwart has made a mess again and I had to take out 4 poos last night before I went to bed!!! :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0

David some children get arthritis so not all older people get it. The body dos'nt renew it's self so well in later years of life so I suppose thats why we mainly get when we are older.

Morning/Evening All
from a very dark and wet Northants :-S.I think it was the quickest walkies on record earlier.
I am now just about to start going through these boxes so everything will be in a mess again.I can't put things away until these units arrive and Chris puts them together. The units should arrive today bewteen 11 and 3.

I know I have Arthritis in my thumbs, big toe and neck.Thankfully not so bad yet but very painful when it flares. It's those stabbing pains in my thumbs that nearly have me going through the roof.I suppose it comes to most of us unfortunately .Anyway I am going to press on and sort these boxes, and also I have just emptied my spice cupboard and my worktop is covered in little jars that need to have a good sorting through.
Can someone send me Mels pics please but so that I can view them.It is the Zip thing that I just can't open :-S

Still dark outside and peeing with rain.

GOOD MORNING ALL.

Don't talk to me about Arthritis, I have it in my knees, thumbs, fingers, shoulders. and hips. This weather give me hell. !!! Some mornings I can't straighten my little fingers.or bend them. Jane I knew you were a pain in the neck. :-D :-Dbut not from arthritis. !!! Will try to send on photo's later.

Mel, It must be like having a child around the place, having to clear up behind him all the time. One good thing though is the poo is little hard bits, aren't they ???

Madam is off out again this morning, so I will have a quiet day, till she arrived home.

Don't know what to do for dinner tonight. Lamb or pork, mince or chops. Decisions decisions. !!!

How Carmel getting on WILL, ??? getting better by the day I hope.

I will have to record all her soaps for Thursday and Friday, as John and Carolyn don't watch them. She can catch up Sat afternoon/Sunday morning.. I will lay on the bed Sat afternoon listening to the football and Sunday morning getting Dinner. So I will be out of the way. !!!

I can't believe that the DOVES are still sitting in the trees with all this rain. It dosen't seen to bother them. Bless.

There is no Web conection down in Hastings, so you won't hear from my till Saturday, after today. Don't miss me too much will you. :-D :-D :-D :-D

Jane

Jane Report 21 Nov 2012 12:07

Just having a little break and coffee :-D
Frank i still can't open Mels pics. Thanks for sending though.I think Ann managed to do something last time so I could see them.Maybe when she comes home later she might oblige.
I was just watching the Green Woodpecker on the lawn.It was there for a good 20 minutes or more having a great feast. Then I got the camera out and it flew off :-S

My spice cupboard looks a bit different.I have a full bag of out of date herbs/spices.I won't mention a couple of dates on the jars lol.Have gone through 2 boxes and have kept nearly everything !!!.One more box to do now.

What a horrible morning.I'm glad I'm not going anywhere.Fitz is going to bring me some Jusro* Puff Pastry as I thought I would try and make a Lamb and Mint Pinwheel.(I bought short crust by mistake). It is something I bought in a butchers in Northumberland on holiday and was so delicious I thought I would give it a go.
I think it could turn out a disaster though as I am sure to make a hash of rolling like a swiss roll.I think I just have to get my Lamb Mince and add a bit of Olive oil and chopped mint, maybe a bit of S&P then squidge it all together spread it on the pastry and roll with fingers crossed :-D

I walk with a marked stoop leaning to the right...but thank God I can walk.

My Father was the strongest man I knew, but he spent the last few years of his life crippled with arthritis.

Jane I bought the pinwheels in Mo**isons las week. Oh had a spicy beef one and I had a minty lamb one. Oh could really do with two and they are about a £1 each in there.

I would add a bit of tomato purea too with the mint and olive oil.

Off to market this afternoon. Oh is still talking about making my little ark on legs and boarding the bottom for Hogwart. So I am haveing a bl**dy great ark in the lounge now too!!!! :-| :-| :-| :-| I am going to try him on a bunny bottle for his water as he makes such a mess with a bowl.

No Frank the poo is not hard and dry, it is soft and swishy feeding him on cat meat. He does so much it is not just one or two a night, I cleared up four before I went to bed and this morning there were about another five or six. Hard to say as he scrapes all the paper and shavings up. Today I have taken all the shavings out and he just has newspaer down but we only have a paper once a week so I shall have to ask some neighbours for theirs if they have them!! I will also ask in the local shop.

Frank, my Carmel is not a one to let it stop at one thing. At 1am this morning she woke me up in agony with 'water works' problems (a long suffering problem with her, long story) While we were trying to get through to the out of hours doctors service, she was dancing round the kitchen in absolute agony. Once you've spoken to the call-taker, a clinician phones you back and makes whatever arrangements deemed neccesary. We only had to wait about 10 minutes when an on-call doctor at our hospital 5 minutes away rang back, took her details and said can you come up straight away. We bundled clothes on, jumped in the car and drove through the rain to the hospital. The Out of Hours is right at the front and the doctor was waiting at the door for us. We were back home in 10 minutes with medication that seems to have done the trick. The lady doctor we saw was lovely and very understanding. I can't praise the service enough. So she had a long sleep-in this monring and all-in-all, I think once she's over this latest episode is over, she will be getting there. We see the consultant about her Lichen Planus on Dec 19th. So, thanks for asking.

Oh Mel, What a to do you are having. Your home won't be yours the way things are going.. While you are at it you might as well place an Advert in the local shop for discarded HOGWARTS. then you can really start a collection :-D :-D :-D I always find that the poo on the patio is black and hard and very small.

Did you see Bill Oddie on the news yesterday about all the birds that are in decline, I try to do my bit to keeo them coming into the garden, with seeds, cakes, bread, Yorkshire pubbing left overs. etc etc.

I can't believe it has rained here all day long, and the clouds are so low you can almost touch them. The clouds are moving from the West. So look out Mandy it's all coming your way. !!

David it's such a shame when you see your father go from a stong healthy man to a wreck through things like that. My dad was fit and strong at the age of 71. then cut down with Cancer. That I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy.

Conrad and Jan are down in Torquay this week, looking after the grand daughter while her Mum is away with Girlfriends in the sunshine somewhere. They say the weather down there is bad also.

Roast lamb, roast potatos, swede cabbage. NO CARROTS. I have run out. Not worth Ros buying any till Saturday. So might do a couplke of roast onions to add a bit of taste.

Time for a cup of tea, and back to my book.

See you later.

Afternoon everyone,

What a day !! hubby was rained off and as he couldn't get on i talked him into going Christmas shopping , which as you can imagined pleased him no end :-D :-D
We got all the little ones new coats from M&S for christmas which we then had to lug about with us !! so that didn't go down to well :-S :-S

Also got Lacey a Teddy Bear from the Bear Factory ,that came in a huge cardboard box !!! something else to lug about!! you had to give the bear a name so we called it Twinkle Toes :-D :-D

Got myself a nice pair of leather shoes from BHS and ......as hubby called them two new Boulder Holders from M&S LOL

Frank, i hope you have a nice few days away ,even if the weather is unsettled it will be nice for you to get away and have a change of scenery ....and no cooking !!

You are having a turn out Jane, are they new kitchen units you have coming ?
The Lamb and Mint Pinwheel sounds nice , i use to like the Lamb and Mint pies from Tes*o's but they stopped doing them ....always the case when you find some thing you like .

Poor Carmel William, glad she got sorted out and the medication helped her pain she is really going through it .

Mel, i wonder if Hoggie would use a cat litter tray :-D although newspaper will be cheaper !!

I can still hear the girl sweeping water 2 doors up.It is funny but we have never really got to know eachother.I now know she is called Nicola and we have swapped phone numbers to keep in touch with this flood problem. She is younger than me and has a boy in his late teens.Maybe we will get to know each other better now (which would be nice).I keep sniffing now to see if I can smell sewerage :-S :-S
Yes it is new units we had delivered Mandy to go in the utility room.James has moved them all out of the garage now.I do worry as the Easter Floods back in 2003 ?? the whole of our garage was flooded right up the step to the door leading into the house.
I just couldn't stand the thought of that happening again now.

I think I had better get started on this Paella now.I'm all behind :-|

Oooo poor Carmel she is really in the wars lately but I am pleased they got her sorted quickly for you William. That was a good service you had by ringing that number and not a nice thing to happen to anyone, water work problems.Hope she is more comfortable now <3

I have been to Holsworthy again this afternoon as I had to change the jacket I bought ofr oh for a bigger size. It is only for him to do his woodturning in but this one is WHITE goodness knows what colour it will be when he starts using it :-S :-S

Mandy I wondered if Hogwart would use a litter tray too. I may try it but I don't think he will as the droppings have been all around the feeding area.

While I have been out oh has adapted the chicken ark. It now has a stand so I can get to it easier and he can take it off the stand if I want it back as a chicken ark. In the bedroom bit he has made another partition with a hog size hole in it so he has a nice dark bit. The girl in the shop up the road gave me a bundle of newspapers (The Holsworthy Post) as they are not returnable so I have a nice supply now. I also tore some paper into strips and put them in his bedroom box and he seems a lot happier now as he had a job to pull whole bits of paper up over his hole to keep the daylight out.

Jane I bet you could'nt beleive it when you saw the firemen!! I should think you have had enough water around you over the past months without being flooded too. Good that James was there to move the units.

Frank that poo you see in the garden is because their main diet is beetles. Because I am feeding chicken and cat food the droppings are softer. Much richer diet.

Evening All,

Well it lashed down all night here and then this morning it was still pouring when we went out in our seperate cars while I went to the dog's home shop and OH to the paper shop. Then we met at the garden centre for eggs on toast and a read Iof the papers. I have NEVER seen so much water on the fields and lanes!!! It was bubbling up into little fountains from the roadside drains and running across the lanes in little rivers. Then I rounded a corner and drove into a BIG river across the lane!!!! :-0 Yikes, I was only tootling along but a wave billowed above the windows each side of the car. I thought I would get stuck as my car is so low to the ground and wasn't sure if it would get deeper, but I managed to keep the engine revving and crawled through to the other side.........luckily being a diesel there are no spark plugs or distributor for the water to get in and make it conk out in the middle!!! PHEW was I relieved!! Years ago, dad drove through some water in a big Triumph and the air intakes on that car were in the wheel arches low down. It sucked the water up like hydraulics and wrecked the engine. When I reached the garden centre OH was standing trying to ring and warn me. His car has big wheels and is much higher off the ground, plus he can adjust it to raise the body higher, but it surprised him how deep it was and he was sure I'd get stuck. We went a different way back!!!! lol.

Jane, the 'waterbaby' !!! You seem destined to keep seeing water ...........it must be a worry though if your garage has flooded before and awful if it is affecting the sewers.

I will have a go at sending Jane and Shirl the pics now. :-D

Annx

Annx Report 21 Nov 2012 19:03

Mel, you will be very 'biblical' this Christmas........a Nativity scene and now an Ark!! lol. They do seem to leave their calling cards anywhere and everywhere. Could you put his food bowl in a shallow lid like a biscuit tin lid or an old small tray and lay paper on that. It would be easier to lift out and change the paper.

Mandy, it's always good when you have your OH with you to help carry stuff..........we usually struggle on our own don't we. It sounds like you did well too.....Twinkle Toes is a nice name!

That sounds like excellent service William and very reassuring for you. I hope Carmel is feeling better now.

William

William Report 21 Nov 2012 19:18

Jane, how worrying for you, I just hope you don't get affected by flooding. I think you've had more than your fair share of troubles in the house this year. We are lucky here, we don't have any rivers and are fairly high, so no flooding. However, my heart goes out to folk when I see flooding on the TV news. There was some tonight and in one shot it showed a railway bridge over the road. The water was cascading from both sides of the underside of the bridge onto the road like waterfalls!

Just to let you all know Carmel is a lot more comfortable now, she still has a pressure and needs the loo more often but the awful pain has gone.
