Yes, Carole, I do like champers. Haven't had any for quite a while and I'm on the non-alcoholic stuff these days. Might have ONE on Christmas Day.

If your bottle is clear after nineteen years, it should be very nice - but I don't know how champagne ages. Might not taste as good if left too long.
I'm not trying to get you to open it - but when we go on our cruise - you might like to bring it with you!

I love Brown Brothers Moscato - as I have said to Sue before I am a real fan of Brown Brothers wines.
I was listening on the radio to a chap saying that the Aussies make a sparkling Shiraz (the French don't like the way the Aussies mess around with the wines) and apparently it is the wine to have with Turkey. Trouble is I don't know who made it but I suppose I can look it up. I believe the Aussies are the only ones to put bubbles into Shiraz.

Pikelets will do it everytime Sue - I know I had the same effect on my grandchildren when they were little. One day I had the three of them here when the eldest was quite young and we made chocolate chip cookies and everyone had a hand in the mix and then I separated it into three lots and they all made their own to bake and take home. The eldest reckoned it was the best cooking they had ever done. The Middle one did not have much to take home she was too busy eating the mixture out of the bowl before she cooked it.
She is now the official cake maker at their house, she just loves baking.

We had a hilarious night once at a Tupperware party where we made all sorts of cocktails.... I know what you mean Carole. :-)

How can you not love champagne? Only the decent stuff though, not the very cheap supermarket stuff, that is far too fizzy. The nice stuff doesn't have so many bubbles, they just come out nice and slowly.

Good evening/ morning all.

sorry for not being around much but employer's mum hasn't been to good since she came out of hospital. I had to stay with her last night and I am going to stay again tonight, reason for this is yesterday morning when she took her blood pressure it was a staggering ( 220 over 100 ) and then in the evening it had dropped to ( 103 over 67 ) and she had a pain in the calf of her leg, after talking to her son in the Isle-of-Man and at his surgestion she rang me and asked if I would stay the night with her. This morning when she first woke up it was back up to ( 217 over something or other ) but after takeing her blood pressure tablet's it started to go down again, so again tonight I will stay with her in case there is a problem and tomorrow morning she is going to call the Dr and ask her to come on a home visit and see what she think's the reason is for the such high pressure and then to go so low again.
I will catch up with you all as soon as I can but until then I hope you are all well and getting ready for Christmas.

Diane .... I hope your employers Mum will be ok , it is sensible for her to have another person with her if her blood pressure is fluctuating that much . I hope the Dr can throw some light on the cause tomorrow .

I'm not hanging about this evening . I've been very engrossed in a series on the TV the past few weeks . The forth and final part starts at 9pm and I've demanded the TV .....lol

Are we all that is here right now? I promised myself I would do my cards to-day. I normally send them out on the first couple of days of December. This year, I had to cross off yet another friend who has gone beyond - I seem to do that almost every year and my list is getting shorter. It put me right off writing the cards, but I must get them done.

Diane,a pain in her calf could well be a blood clot and that is incredibly dangerous. If I was you, I would call her doctor tonight,or phone NHS direct and see what they have to say

Hello ladies. Berona I haven't done my cards today either. A growing number of people have told me they are only doing a small number of cards this year and I'm starting to think that next year I may do the same.

Diane - the fluctuating blood pressure is a worry and even more so the painful leg. The worry being that she may have a blood clot. Keep a close eye on her until she sees the doctor.

Diane, I think your friend needs to see a doctor.

As has been said, the fluctuation in blood pressure is worrying, but the pain in the calf could be a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
If the calf is swollen, and/or feels firmer than the other leg, and feels hot to the touch then it is very likely a DVT.
I know what I'm talking about as I've had two.
If it is a DVT it can start to break up and form a clot in the lung causing a Pulmonry Embolism that is life threatening - this happened to me and I was very ill.
If she has a DVT she will be admitted to hospital and put on a Heperon anticoagulant Drip to disperse the clot.
Don't put off seeing a doctor if you are in any doubt - take a cab to A&E if necessary, and if your friend has a high temp call an ambulance.

thank you all for your advice, it has been the pain in the calf of the leg that has had her worried and that is why I have been staying, I did suggest we call her GP but she didn't want to see a locum over the weekend and to have insisted may have caused blood pressure to have gone up again so decided to let her make the decision if and when to call Dr. She has decided that no matter what her pressure is in the morning she is going to call her GP to come for a visit and have her make a decision on the situation.
I will be off to her's as soon as X Factor has finished so won't be on the thread again tonight

you weren't there when I started my post and I thank you for your advice hun, I must be off now and if when I get to her house and there is any further sign's of a problem with her pain in the calf I will have her think about what she need's to do, if it was up to me I would have had her at A+E yesterday as the fear of DVT was my first thought too.

Berona I know what you mean about the Christmas card list, I suppose as we get older it is inevitable that the list will get shorter as the years pass. We haven't done ours yet either, in fact we haven't done anything towards Christmas yet, never been so disorganised. Oh well, it will come, and go I expect.

I'm disorganised this year too Tec. I've just about done all my shopping now but food, cards and meeting up with people just doesn't seem to be happening. I think because November was such a busy month I've run out of puff.
