Thanks - the 1891 census matches info I've got and gives me a bit extra to go on - confused about the SMITHS )who wouldn't be with a surname like that!) Tracing back from Charles Edward(my grandad) b.1890 in Knotting Beds. is no easy task with so many Johns (think he was great grandad)and Charles around. I've been trying through the IGI and getting more confused than I was in the first place hence my endless queries . Where do I go from here to trace the right SMITH family ? Mary

Hi Laurie Very many thanks for the look up. It's interesting that you couldn't find anything spelt ROLF. Your help is much appreciated. Lesley

Lesley Report 3 Mar 2004 16:54

Hi Laurie Could I ask a favour. Do you think you could extend the search for Henry Rolf(e)'s marriage to 1869-1871. I just wonder if maybe they weren't married at the time of the birth of their first child. I'd be very grateful. Sorry if I'm a pain. Lesley

Hi Laurie, Thanks for the kind offer. The name I`m interested in is Henry Paffett, born in Portsmouth. I`ve just had a look at the site and it says there are 3 entries. Could I be really cheeky and ask for all three as I`m sure they are all "mine". If you are too snowed under can you just look for one aged about 31. I don`t know where he was living, he`s been in a different place every time I`ve looked him up! Almost forgot, this is on the 1891 census. Thanks again, Rebecca
