Thanks for the cuppa Sue

Guessing Marilyn is now on English soil and travelling back home from Bristol. She'll be exhausted. I never liked coming back from Stateside, timing is always out.

Well hubby off to work this afternoon. Must get the tree done today.

Oh I have a little girl coming tomorrow for a trial session. Remember the one who cose a lady who lived round the corner to them? Welllllll, Mum decided that being driven around in a car not such a good idea !!! Thinks my walking out is now a bonus. I'lllet you all know if she places her with me to start in January.

Be back later I have more info to add to my extended tree for my daughter in law.

Linda :o) XxX

Mo to try and answer your questions we lived in a three bedroom old house and had a yard it did have flower beds along the side our Shelter was an Anderson one and Dad had made it water proof and it had bunk beds in on one side not very wide and a narrow wooden bed on the otherside. Dad worked nights at DeHavillian building aircraft. my Gran lived with us (Dads Mum )and she would not go into a shelter in the garden so she had a table one that is it fitted under the table it had a matteress in and she use to go in there with her next door neighbour an old lady. before we went to bed we had to wash and change into our nighties while Mum made flasks of tea and we had folded our clothes and took them with us to the shelter. there was a bucket with a lid but I cannot recall any of us having to use it. we had an outside toilet so we use to pop out there when it was quieter and go and get back into the anderson shelter Dad had made a small table more like a box it had shelves in it to put books and puzzels things like that. we had an oil latern that stood on the table top which we used we also had a little heater that we use to take camping with us. and we could boil a kettle on that. we had a kettle and took tea (It was loose tea then ) and mum had powdered milk we had lemonade and things like that Dad had made a heavy wooden door with a handle on the inside which we use to pull too I think that is why my mother and I didnt like to be shut in anywhere I

Mr Jones use to slip Betty and me a bar of chocolate with out her knowing he use to put his finger to his lips and go shoo. she had two daughters Dehlia was one but cannot recall the name of the other one. we had to kneel at out bed at night and say our prayers and also we had to learn to sing the Welsh National Antheum and she made us ask for bread and butter in welsh They were Chapel people.

Hi everybody, I've just finished washing all the bedding, so I'm off out for the shopping now.

Rita I hope they didn't let that woman have any other children to look after. Mind you, nothing wrong with kneeling by the bed and saying your prayers - we were brought up to do that as well. I enjoy reading your bits about the war and your childhood, keep them coming.

You lot were all talkative yesterday, trust me to miss it all.

Linda, I said that woman might change her mind later, I knew she'd made a mistake not picking you.

Well I was born and lived in Willesden NW10 it is now called Brent. both my father and Uncle worked at Dehavillands in Hatfield (I think it was )he did shift work then got on better working nights so he stayed on nights.he did home guard duties as well . he wanted to go into the Royal Air force but they turned him down said his work was more important.

did you live in London then ?

Pauline it wasnt the kneeling by the bed but that we had to say our pray in Welsh and we didnt know anything in welsh till we went there.
I love to hear the people speaking welsh they kind of sing as they speak.
but there was a funny outcome to all this.
when I started doing Fathers family tree they all come from Devon near Hontion 8 generations.the male members were farm labourers and when the famine came in Devon and there was no work Grandfather three brothers moved to Wales in the late 1880's and married and had familes Richard Grandfather s brother and George. George married in Cardiff and had some sons. John married and had a big family about 8. , his sons all went down the mine but one he became a police constable in Canton his sons became miners and worked in the pits in Memathyer Tydfil in Glamorgan the girls married miners George lived in Aberdare St Johns in Glamorgan. the others spread out and ended up in Bedwilty and Cardiff , Canton all in the area I was in so some of Grandfather relations must have been there when I was.. what a strange thing to have happened and Dad would not have know as Grandmother never mentioned his father after they parted.

This Morning l went in Town I brought myself two jumpers from "Bon Marche "I got home and found one of them had the alarm gaget that goes off when you come out of the door to catch people trying to shoplift.
it didnt go off when I came out of the shop and I cannot get it off myself. what worries me is when I take it back to the shop to get them to remove it.and the alarm goes off people will think I have shoplifted. I do have the receipt. has this happened to anyone else.

Rita, you could ring the shop first and explain, that way they'll be expecting you when you go back to the shop. You won't have to stand in front of other people and explain.

Shelly, I notice you always manage to share the jobs out between us and don't give yourself any work. I think Mo's right, you should do all the washing and ironing.

OK Mo, I've done the mail and you've done the unpacking so we can sit back and watch Shelly do the washing.

Marilyn are you still asleep? Come on wake up, we're all waiting for our presents.

Sue, I was wondering about that mouse as well, was it dead?

LG are you feeling any better? Did you go to the doctors?

Where did Linda go? Did you get the tree up Linda? Mine isn't up yet.

I didn't get much at the shops today, it was too crowded, I couldn't be bothered to fight my way to the counters.

Rita Report 8 Dec 2009 16:51

Shelly that is nice to know the baby is doing well I bet he loves his new cot. ?

I looked for a phone number for the shop but cannot find one. I can see myself standing outside the shop waving my hands to get attention from one of the assistance. what a laugh. I might end up under lock and key at the weekend. I think I would die of shame..

I am reading through my Autobiography as far as page 12 and have enjoyed it sitting here having a laugh l have to read it though as it is a longtime since I started typing it. .
