That's handy Jane that Janice can get all the aids to help her , i must say the raised toilet seat that hubby had when he had his hip done has come in handy with my back being bad , i have used it before but my goodness it seems a long way done when you take it off the loo :-S :-S
Our christmas tree is still up in the town and last week end the lights were still on and lit !!!! then they say it costs a lot to have lights in the town !!!
We had five shops close in the town just after christmas ,and nobody knows whats happening with a hotel in the town ,the staff were told on new years eve that that was it .......closed !!! We'll soon be a ghost town . And now the council are thinking of charging people to park on all the car parks in town!! i'am lucky that a two minute walk takes me into town , but soon there will be no shops to walk too !!

2 Weddings Maureen!!!!.Have you started saving your pennies for your 2 new outfits and hats??? I dreamed last night that Hannah was getting married. But I think that will be a very long way off(if ever) lol.I think it must have been on my mind about meeting her new boyfriend. It does all seem quite serious though :-D
Liz. I saw Call the Midwife last night .Quite enjoyed it too.It looks like it may be good.
Denise ,I hope you enjoyed your lunch out today.

Oh has gone to lie down as he has a migraine, so has stopped doing his notes.
Dermot's thread is 'Who's Whose? Confusing words' and this one is still going. I post on it sometimes.
Jane I am sending you a PM.
Will catch up with the posts then.

Jane I hope Janice will get on ok tomorrow. I shall be thinking of her and please give her my love and wishes. She is so brave!!!!!!
Frank the best thing you can put on that finger is vasaline. A nice big dob right on the cut bit. Stops it sticking to a plaster too. My friend cut the top off her finger slicing greens and the hosp put a vasaline plaster on it each day and it healed very quickly. Hers was completely flat on the top!! :-S It all grew back but she could'nt ring for a while.
I watched the midwife program yesterday on Replay as oh did'nt want to watch it when it was on. I thought it very good but also thought the London streets were a bit clean for 1957. I was 7 years old then!! There are 6 in the serise (sp?) I think.
As to the pics I sent Kim they were of the banties as chicks which you have all had anyway. So nothing new to most of you. Sorry. Still trying to find out how to send pics from my new camera :-(

Got rid of all that clutter this afternoon.Enough to half fill a van.
The place looks much tidier and spacious.
Gave it to PDSA because they were the only one who would collect.

Well I'm right fedupsy now......did a long post and >>>>>>>>>>>whoosh it was gone!!
Jane, best wishes to Janice with her op and hope she makes a good recovery. Has Hannah met HIS parents yet?
The sun was AWFUL for driving this morning!! OH said it would be as well as you from his Luton journey when he worked down there. His meeting was at the rugby club, so it was just his cup of tea looking at the ground and the trophies!!
Mel, I had to put lots of coats of yacht varnish on the canoes too. It was good stuff and I think we used it on the mahogany doors in the house years later. Your OH is a good neighbour dashing off to help out.
Frank, that cut sounds awful. I hate those slicing things as you can go so fast with them and before you know it........ :-0 :-0 Maybe you should wear chainmail gloves for those jobs in future!!
Hope you had a nice meal with your friend Denise. Thank you for your kind offer, but what newspapers does the Newspaper Archive have? Is it just the main daily papers?
Mandy, I noticed last time I was in Nuneaton that there were quite a few empty shops. I think those that could ride the recession for a while are now struggling to keep going. Round here it seems to be the garden centres that are extending and doing well!! It seems daft to charge for parking when shops are closing doesn't it. The city council are doing what they can to deter motorists here with road changes and high parking costs. They think people will use public transport instead, but who can or wants to carry heavy shopping on a bus. They will just drive shoppers elsewhere and then the shops will close and they will lose council tax.
David, I bet you both feel better for the declutter!! I will finish filling my bag tomorrow I hope. What are you going to do with your car.....repair and/or sell?
Well after my early start this morning I feel really tired, so an early night for me now.....sleep tight everyone xx

Hi All.
Frank hope your finger is OK did you go to the hospital maybe you need stitches.
Annx -its the British Newpaper Archive and it covers nearly every paper in the UK as far as I can make out. But I am still trying to work out how once I have found what I want I can save it where I want it.
But I find the site really fascinating.
Bye for now

Evening all, or should I say good night all,
I bet you are all in bed by now.
I went to watch the match tonight. The barmaid in also a nurse, and wanted to look at mt finger. She used a wipe and dressed it for me. There was no point in going to the hospital, as the top was completley gone on my finger, and nowhere to stitch. Thank god it's stopped bleeding, and is well covered so I won't bleed on the clean sheets, that would put me in bad books.
See you in the morning.

Morning all.
Another very cold and frosty morning but still sunny. I have been looking on some other sites, quite interesting. I have been on the Genes Blog site and some of those are quite good as well.
But if I look at too many sites I dont have time to do anything else because I get so involved with what I read.
And after all the point of me being on Genes Reunited is to look up as much of my family history as possible but I get side tracked.
Oh well lets see what I can find out today.

Denise I think it is too easy to get sidetracked on the computer.I have to be very strict with myself sometimes.
I think Janice will either be in Theatre now ,or she could be back in her room.I don't know how long Knee Replacement ops take. Her OH is going to ring me later.
How's that finger this morning Frank? Don't go poking it in any more trouble today ;-)
That's me for now.Things to do so BBL

Hi Jane
Hope Janice's op has gone OK.
The problem is with the threads is that if I dont look at it for a while there is so much to catch up on then I miss bits because I go through it all too quickly.
Hope the finger is OK today Frank.

Morning All,
Thick frost here doesn't seem to be melting either. OH had to scrape before he went out this morning and now it will be my turn!!
The operation will soon be over for Janice, it is good to be the first.....less hanging about. I think it is such a relief when you wake up and they tell you it is all done.
That was good the barmaid dressed your finger for you Frank, otherwise you could have been sleeping with it in a plastic bag!!
Yes, Denise it is very addictive once you start. I am still the same once I find a new rellie.......have to trace all the descendants and see their names, where they lived and what they did for a living......time just flies and it can be 2.00am before you know it! :-D
Shame about your car David, let's hope the next one is better. That was nice the PDSA giving their donaters calendars and diaries! I know all I will get at the dog's home will be temptation to take one home!! lol
We are off to see War Horse later so I'd better be sure to take tissues!!
Nipping out next to collect a parcel, then I might look at starting a necklace. It sure beats the alternative.....the dreaded HW!! (that's housework, Denise) OH was going to get stuff out of the loft, but I slept funny and woke up with my shoulder hurting so can't help him down with the boxes.......maybe do that tomorrow.
This morning a big bird was sitting in the top of one of the trees in the field. It was light and dark brown but looked too big to be a pigeon. I got a poor snap of it as it flew away so will put it on the computer later and see if that helps to identify it.
Toodle pip for now.........BBL

Morning All,
Forgot to post earlier!!
frank how is that finger today and did you read what I said about the vasaline?
Hope everything is ok for Janice today. Am thinking of her.
Oh is out in his new hat and gloves sawing up the big tree trunks so he can dry the wood out for turning later into bowls. It is good old beech so a nice close grain. Many a chair leg turned from beech.
I have been watching Willie Wagtail in the garden and Jenny Wren has been poking about all round the rooves of the two bantam houses this morning. Looking for little spiders no doubt. Oh put a big scoop of bird food on all my feeders for me first thing so I could watch them through the kitchen windows.
Yesterday I bought them a huge seed ring for half price and a giant cone filled with fat and seed. I had looked at the seed ring before Christmas but I thought £4 a bit much. Yesterday it was £1.99 so they got it. Not put it out yet but when I do I will take a pic.
Must ask his lordship the woodturner to show me what to do with these new pictures.. I can't find anywhere to start a new fold on the program.

Morning All
Hope all goes well with Janice and she is ok after her op Jane.
Milder here today ,no frost,
The framework of back porch is up and the windows are going into day, it looks good already, I think it will look the same size as the other one from the outside (a different shape of course) but inside I will have less floor space, The old windows in the back porch were much bigger so I did not have much wall space but in the new porch which will be mostly of brick I hope to have more wall space to I will be able to put up a few cupboards. We are only putting back the freezer and tumble dryer, and keeping the fridge in the kitchen. Really looking forward to when it's all done and we can go shopping for floor tiles and paint

Morning all,
Nothing to report from here. All quiet on the Western Front.
Hope all goes well with Janice's op today. When I had my knee done, it was a day job. In at 8.00 am out by 6.00 pm. Had to go back a few times as it kept filling with gunge 3 syringe's full on two occassions. My Doctor also had to do it.
Ros was out with Cariline last week at W'borough "DUNN ELM" had a bargain on bedroom curtains prices at £39.99. reduded to £9.99. just the colour she wanted. She is busy now altering the length, Hope she dosen't cut to much off.
Finger uncovered this morning, trying not to use it, or catch it. Not easy. being left handed. !!!!
I have my doves on the bird bath looking for water, so had better go and refrost it for them/
