I think we will be getting that Aussie rain shortly.
One place here (Central South Island) broke their highest recorded temperature the other day and hit 30 degrees, then outdid themselves the next day and made it to 31, seems to be on the up because I googled it this morning and it is 32 degrees, however tomorrow they will be lucky to reach 20 and will drop to 8 over night.

That is what it is like here - we don't do normal just goes up and down the scale. It is a real scorcher outside right now at 11.12am and I am about to go out but the met office has proposed that there could be chance showers for the afternoon so once again one takes an umbrella out in beautiful weather just in case. Another day you go out wrapped up because it is cold and within half an hour you are stripping off again.

My parents lived on the top of a hill. Front street level; back quite high with a patio which had a safety rail and steps (fantastic views all around).
Each day at the same time, a Kookaburra (Laughing Jackass) would land on the dividing fences and laugh. This was a signal for the lady of each house to go out and put a small amount of meat out for him - then he would move to the next dividing fence.

I was there once when my Mum heard him in the distance and she said "Ooh quick - Jack's coming" and she went to the fridge, took out a small meatball and took it out to the safety rail just as he landed on her fence and laughed. He waited for her to step away from the rail, then he took off from the fence and swooped past the rail, landing on the next dividing fence with the meat in his mouth. .

No wonder he laughed. He had about ten of the neighbours all conned into feeding him!

Ooh Perse, i didn't realise you went in for stripping lol

Yes, Perse - just where do you do your stripping-off?

Berona, the chap next door but one feeds the birds every day. He has a large tin, he puts food in and he uses a rope and hauls it up a tree to a platform he has built, it then tips out. All very elaborate. the birds gather on the roof of the house next door while they wait. It looks like something out of that Alfred Hitchcock film, The Birds

Yes Tec I'm just about manageing to keep warm, just hope all this cold weather doesn't last to long and that my main pipe feed doesn't freeze like it did last year.

Linda how come you are asking Berona to make you some bed sock's, I would understand Sue asking in their winter but I thought you knitted ?

I don't knit Diane. My mother did teach me when I was young, but i was always hopeless at it and hated it

Persey no wonder the temperature's rising in Aukland with all that stripping you do - I do hope there's no old boys with dodgy tickers about.

Linda my garden is a bit like that Hitchcock film at times, especially when the jackdaws arrive.

We do have cinema duty this week Diane. It is open everyday and as long as a single paying customer turns up, the film would be shown.

I am going to turn in now before the temperature drops because the heating has gone off. I will try and keep my feet tucked in tonight. goodnight everyone up top.

I haven't done any knitting for two years. My finger tips are very good, but my wrists are affected by osteo-arthritis. I had to give up crochet a few years ago because of the wrist movement it involved.

I love knitting, but tend to get stuck into it once I start and do too much of it to the point of having to have a year or two off. Last thing I knitted was squares for a spare blanket. Finished the knitting two years ago, but still haven't sewn them up together - because I hate sewing! Also, I need to set them all out to mix the colours and that would involve a lot of bending over - which hurts - so I might have to get someone to help me with that.
I did knit for the babies/children, but I think the mothers would prefer to use garments which they can wash in a machine, rather than give special care to one garment, so I don't bother any more and I don't knit for myself because I like machine-knits on older ladies.

Have I missed saying goodnight again?

Well, I have to go myself. I have washing to do. Rain doesn't bother me and I think it's raining now - so light, I can't see it.

I don't use my clothes line because I don't bend and stretch so good. I do a full load and use my dryer. I know it costs me, but I have to allow for it.

Have a good day you Aussies and Kiwis - even if it IS wet.

Berona I remember my mother knitting me a V-necked pullover in bottle green. I was to wear for a school play I was appearing in when about 12 yrs old. It took her weeks and weeks to knit. Come the day it was hell to get over my ears - the neck was too small - as we couldn't get it off in time I had to stay in it for the play, and couldn't breathe.
When I got home she had to take the sciccors and cut it off after all the squealing and screaming as she nearly ripped my ears and nose off in an attempt to get it off me.
Mother never knitted me anything after that :))
