Good morning/evening. There's a strange light coming through the window - my OH said it's called "sunshine". I think I like it:-))

Good Morning Sue,
Hope you are well today - I hope the sunshine lasts for you - we had sunshine all day, but not much warmth in it, nice though.

It being Saturday, have you any plans?

Tec.

SueMaid Report 19 Nov 2010 21:26

Hi Tec. There's a couple of markets on today that we'll go and have a look at. One is a new market and the other one is a produce market that sells fresh vegies, bread etc. Also good coffee and fresh cakes so if the sunshine stays it should be a nice morning to go out.

I'm watching with interest the rescue attempts in NZ for yet another mining accident. It would seem that mining is still a dangerous profession.

Hi Sue,
Hope you have a good rummage in the markets in the sunshine.

They've been reporting on the NZ mining accident on BBC news today - I so hope they can get them out alive.
We know all about mining accidents here in Wales. OH lost several family members in mine accidents, and her grandfather broke his back in a pit fall when he was 28, but went on to live to 85 years old, but had to wear a horrible heavy leather harness all those years.

It was wonderful when they got the Chillean miners back up.

What light through yonder window breaks - it is the going out beckoning call for Sue.

Evening Diane and Tec.

%24parkling%24andie - you should be able to get your name back.

Bob with all the degrees of latitude and longitude after his name went all quirky but it came back.
A few people lost their names completely.
I keep having to scroll backwards through the threads - all very upside down.

I have noticed that this new how's your father set up had caused a lot of Thread Participation.

It was very heartening watching the Chilleans coming back up. Hopefully it will be the same with this group. My heart goes out to the poor families waiting up top for news.

On one of our trips to Tasmania we went to Beaconsfield where a miner was killed and two miners trapped. We saw the lift they came up in and it was a strange feeling. I felt quite claustrophic at the thought of being trapped in a cage for all that time - I can't begin to imagine how it must have been for the miners.

Good Morning Persey,

Hope you are bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning.

What's the news on the mine rescue, have they started yet?

I'm no longer a free member, so can't wander willy nilly whe'er I like, I'm back to being Bog Standard.

Sue, I don't think I would have had the courage to go underground, but in many mining areas that's all there was, so generations of men had no choice.

SueMaid Report 19 Nov 2010 21:58

That's true Tec. I haven't found coal miners in my family. Mostly domestics, ag labs and factory workers - in t'woollen mills. Perhaps there were some in OH's family as one branch were originally from Wales but they worked in ship building when they reached North East England.

I'm afraid I must be off although it's early. OH is giving me the "are you going to get ready" look.

Enjoy chatting and I expect you all to behave yourselves:-)) Talk laters.

Hello to all - and Sue - don't spend too much at the markets - it's blue sky and sunshine here. Should make you happy if you're having the same!

Don't know about the time being different. I suppose I'll get used to it, although FB has it like that and I'm never sure if I have the right day or not.

Hope this find everyone OK.

Hello to anyone that's left.

My, my. I'm not too sure about this new set up but I do like the time factor it has now. I don't have to go checking on World Clock etc.

We have overcast and threatened thunder storms today. Ah well, we are in the Wet Tropics. My only problem with it is the newly graded dirt road. I went out yesterday for my chiropractor appt and did a few other things whilst I was down in Cairns (50 min drive away down the mountain) and when I got home it had been raining. The dirt road was like driving on a 'slushie'. Just awful. I hate it if my car doesn't feel sure footed under me. And I can't afford a 4WD. Could if I was an Aboriginal. grrrrrr.

Anyway hope all is well with everyone.

Good Morning Berona,

How are you today? glad the sun is out for you today, make the most of it.

The new system has reached me, a bit more fiddly to get around, but not too bad. Can't understand why GR changed things because I can't see any benefits over the old way.

Tecwyn Report 19 Nov 2010 22:39

Good Morning Pam,

That dirt road of yours sounds nasty in wet conditions. We have a short cut over the mountain to the nearest little town, but in the winter it's too difficult without a 4x4. Of course all the farmers have them and churn the road up.

Dog demanding to go out, I'll be back.

Tec.

Well I don't like the time factor I can't get my head around "which way up" I am supposed to be.

I wonder what Lewis Carroll would have made of it. The way the pages go and when you think you are going back one page you end up where the thread started and it is just like going down the rabbit hole with Alice.

We have a cheap 4 wheel drive Pam, it manages to go over all sorts of things. Sometimes I feel like doing that when I am at a round-about, feel like charging through the middle, especially when they have seven or eight roads going off the darn thing.

I'm fine, thanks Tec. Maybe i just don't like changes - a symptom of old age - I still get a little confused with it on FB - not sure if we are talking about to-day or yesterday.

Yes, I might even risk washing my woollens to-day. I won't even bother to look at the forecast - it usually puts me off doing anything like that.
