Linda they are all so cruel mentioning all this food ( shame on you ) but I'm sure Linda will be making a note of this for when one of you are unable to eat for some reason or other.

Yes Amanda I count myself lucky it was only a scrap of my knuckle's, if the entrance door had been a foot nearer I would have butted it.

I'm still here. Just keep ducking out to answer emails.
Daughter is coming over and 'bringing lunch'.

We had a thunderstorm last night. Can't remember how long ago we had one of those. I turned off the computer - and it took much longer to re-boot than the storm lasted.
Sun's out now and the ground has dried, so it looks like we are going to have a nice day after all.

It will be nice for me, anyway. I've had so many nice compliments on here and on pm's. Haven't got to Facebook yet.

Thanks again for all the kind words you have said both on here and there too!

(with apologies to the white rabbit/Lewis Carroll)

Happy birthday Berona !

I can't do cakes, or roses. Not even the clever symbols some people seem to be able to manage, but best wishes for your birthday Berona, and hope it was nice. Party on the weekend ?

Colin

PS Diane - ouch. More water with the whisky might be in order. Then again, the same might apply to me. My last attempt was to trip over a large lump of concrete on a building site. My hard hat came off, but it wouldn't have protected my knees anyway, Dusty jeans and bruised knee, but no blood drawn.

Berona

Berona Report 28 Oct 2010 09:54

Thanks for the good wishes, Colin. I have had a very good day. Not exactly finished yet, as it includes lunch on Saturday. Son and DIL are deciding where to take me this time. If it's anywhere like they have taken me before, it will be no doubt be lovely. My only condition is that it doesn't involve stairs.

I am glad that you have had such a lovely day Berona, I had a suspicion that your daughter must be planning some sort of surprise for you, she would never have let you be alone on your birthday.
The posh lunch at the weekend sounds nice, although, you never know, he might decide to relive his childhood and take you for a picnic on the beach!

Hello Linda,
Hi Berona, I thought you might be busy doing something else this evening as it's your birthday. But nice to see you here.
Sounds like you had a wonderful day and I hope your lunch on the weekend is most enjoyable.

My visit to my friends today was great. We haven't caught up for ages and her OH was home, too, which was lovely.

They are going to come over and help me get this place sorted ready for cyclone season. There's a few palm fronds and various other bits of stuff that have to be picked up along with any fallen branches around the house so that they don't become missiles during a storm.

It's very kind of them to offer.

Pam.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 28 Oct 2010 10:38

crocs, snakes and now cyclones, rather you than me. Still if your friends are coming over to help you, it will be even more opportunity for a nice natter

Pamela

Pamela Report 28 Oct 2010 11:00

Yes, that's true. But you know I often get ribbed about the weather up here with cyclone forecasts etc. but, in fact, the areas south of here even down nearly as far as where Sue lives gets weather at least as bad as we do. Sure we have the occasional really bad one but, pray God, no one gets much damage because our houses up here are built to withstand those conditions. eg. my house was built in 1974 and it's fine. If we get a flood and it comes into the house then it's easily cleaned up. We furnish and decorate our houses with that possibility in mind. And after all, Australia is a country where these weather extremes are to be expected and prepared for. I'd sooner our cyclones and floods than their bush fires down there. You can swim in a flood, you can't in a fire.

I'm afraid it's my bedtime. Been a lovely day but it took 3 and a bit hours of driving back and forth. So I'm somewhat tired.

Talk again soon, Linda. Nice talking to you.

Bye for now,

Pam.
