Hi Rose, what usa census can you go up to? and can you do all states?. Sean

Rosemary

Rosemary Report 21 Mar 2005 15:02

Sean, I have access on Ancestry to all currently published US Federal census records from 1790 through 1930. There are only fragments of the 1890 as most records were destroyed in a fire. The 1900 and 1930 are still being updated. It includes all States and Territories that were part of the US at the time the census was taken. Prior to 1850, only the head of household's name was listed. All other household members where counted and catagorized by sex, age range, race, free or slave. Also available are many census records taken by the States and Territories between Federal census years. Also have access to all UK and Canadian records currently available on Ancestry. Rose

Leanne, Is John L Anderson a brother of David L Anderson? When was John born? Rose

Rosemary

Rosemary Report 22 Mar 2005 14:10

Leanne, John Anderson is a common name. Having trouble pinning down the right one. Have more questions. Found a couple possible immigration records. Was John also a mason like his father? Did he come here alone or with his family? When was Elizabeth born and when did she immigrate? Have you found her on any of the UK census records. Did John and Elizabeth stay in NY? Any children? Rose

Rosemary Report 23 Mar 2005 00:08

Sinead, I am not finding him on later Ellis Island records or the 1930 census. He could show up on the Boston Passenger list as it's still being updated. I check the Soc Sec death index. There are several William Barber's listed born in 1895. Would you know the exact date of birth? If you know his brother's dates of birth I could possibly find their death records also. Rose

hello Rosemary Don't know if your offer still stands, but if it does ...... I'm looking for Mary Elizabeth Bavin, born 1840/1 in Michigan. Father William Bavin. In 1854 she turns up in Bluntisham, huntigndon, marrying Moses Cousins, and the rest as they say is history! If William originated in Huntingdon/Cambridge, what he was doing in N America in 1840 is another question to delve into (another day maybe!!!) Any info on Mary greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Christine

Hi Rosemary - if you are still doing look-ups could you please help with the following - Birth of John Charles Peace, 1850 New York father Charles, mother Maria. All his siblings were born in Yorkshire so have no idea why they would be in America in 1850. Could you also check 1850 census for them - it should read Charles Peace (23) born Sheffield (File Cutter) Maria Peace (26) born Birmingham, Warks Sarah Peace (1) born Sheffield. Many thanks, Sheelagh

Hi Rose I wonder if you might be able to find Owen Amos on any of your records.................. He was born in 1839 in Spalding, Lincs and appears on 1861 census there. Does not appear on 1871 as far as I have been able to discover. In 1876, he married in Morris, Kansas - where he died in 1926. If you could find anything at all, I would really appreciate it. Rosemary
