Hi Rosemary, My grandmother was still living in this country 1926 when she was dissowned by her family for having a child out of wedlock. Very generous offer - I too spend more time these days looking up stuff for other folk as I've traced most of my own family back to the 1700s!! However, my grandfather had a sister called Mary Bull, born 1893 in Nantwhich, Cheshire, who emigrated to America 'to become an actress', an who was never heard from again by the family. She was known as Polly, rather than Mary, and I guess she was in the States by the 1920 census, definately by 1930 - any information you could provide would be fantastic and greatly appreciated! Mary Bull's parents were Alice and Caleb Bull, and the family lived in Staffordshire. Thanks for your time Regards, Julie

Ian, Too bad he married before 1850. Prior to that, only the names of head of household are noted on the census records and there is no indication of place of birth or occupation. Did he stay in England? I didn't find him on any of the UK census. I am not find his father on the US census either. I wonder if the entire Cliffe family went to England and not just John Henry. Ian, I am not finding John and Annie on the US census. I did see one immigration record for John Cliffe, age 30, who arrived in NY in 1858. Place of origin USA , occupation: gardner? Annie is not with him. He may have died in the US or UK prior to 1861 and Annie remarried. I don't see him on the 1860 US census. I guess for now, he will have to remain a mystery. Rose

Re. John Cunningham, Rose, I had hoped that the info. you gave me would have included his parents and perhaps siblings, I doubt if a three year old would be travelling alone, but I just don't know. The only other info. I have is that John was born in Rosscommon and took the Oath in Tippecanoe Co. Indiana. Many thanks for your help, Frank

Dear Rosemary, You are certainly getting plenty of work to do! Could you check the 1910 US Census for Hanah Cottuli, please? I accessed it through Ancestry.com, but here was a fault with the page image, so I didn't get the details. By the time they fixed it, my subscription had expired... She was aged 73, lived in Winthrop, Suffolk, Mass. I'm especially interested in her country of origin, and anyone listed in her household. Thanks! Audrey
