Just received an appointment for a fasting (I prefer to call it starving) blood test at 0845 tomorrow. Nothing for 12 hours before.

Ouch......that is early but that is good really cos you're asleep all night so wouldn't be eating any way

What's the test for Ann

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Aug 2012 16:06

Because I take Statins for high cholerstrol and medication for highBP it is the heart clinic annual test at the surgery. Hopefully I can also get them to test for diabetes if they don't do already given that daughter has now got type 2.

Yes it is early I am often still in bed at that time. And OH has a dental appointment for 11am, all we seem to do these past two weeks is make appointments. :-)

I did wonder if it was a cholerstrol 1, hopefully they'll do the diabetes test for you & am sorry to hear your daughter has it.

It looks like your morning will be busy but don't forget to have something to eat after

As the doctors is only 5 minutes from home it isn't too bad but I shall have a small marathon bar with me. I too hate being hungry and thirsty.

I too have to have those fasting blood tests for very high cholesterol - it's in double figures without Statins - where would I be without Statins - dead probably!!
It's the first cup of coffee in the morning that I struggle not having!!

my high cholestoerol is no caused by what I eat, it's familial

me2 Roy. I don't feel human until I've had my two morning coffees!

I have a wonderful OH, he brings me the 1st cup

OH sits on the deck with his 1st cup and watches the sun come up.

I sit in bed with mine, and wait for my eyelids to creak open.

:-D

Oh Ann.
You´ve just reminded me that mine is due next month.
The blood letting clinic here is from 8am to 9am so it means getting up at the crack of dawn.
On the plus side, they do the full works.....complete cholesterol & thyroid tests plus test for any other blips & also a urine test at the same time.
Then we go back to the GP either the following day or the day after for the results & we are given a print out of the readings to keep.
Must say I like the Spanish health service, but that cup of coffee is a huge sacrifice. Don´t feel human until I´´ve had it.

AnninGlos Report 23 Aug 2012 08:05

Usually two weeks before we get results. We have the blood test, then when we go for results we have the BP, urine tests. No, don't know why they don't do them all at once.
