Do you make a good cheeseboard at Christmas, and what do you have.
Or, don't you like it at all

Love cheese Julia. Can't buy too much with only two of us but we usually have stilton with apricots, Wenslydale with cranberries, a good cheddar, Brie, maybe Double Gloucester with chives or something else. And anything else that takes our eye. What do you have?

Thanks Ann
The OH just likes plain old Moustrap. But I like St Auger,Stilton with Apricots,Wenslydale with Cranberries, Shropshire Blue, Caerphilly, a nice soft white cheese, even Philladelphia. I only buy the small truckles of Stilton and Wenslydale.
But of course I like the Oat Cakes, Cream Crackers and even Ryvita, with my cheese. And it has to be accompanied by a glass of very good Port.

My favourite - Boursin - then very mature cheddar, plain stilton, brie, Cheshire and do not forget the grapes - mixed biscuits/crackers. OH always has to have edam (tastes like plastic to me). OH will still be on the Rioja whilst I shall be still struggling with my one and only glass of Rioja!

I forgot St Auger and shropshire blue like both of those although OH doesn't. I can't have too much blue cheese because I am the only one that eats it.

This menu is a choice for me and Him - son allergic to cheese/dairy products. Cheese board comes out son disappears! It will be nice if we dine on 25th as last year son had swine flu and I think we finally had the goose etc at Easter!

I always do English cheeses. Stilton, Somerset Brie, Red Leicester, Cheshire, goats cheese.

Not really a cheese lover, I hate blue cheese, Stilton etc. but do like mature cheddar, brie, and Swiss cheese. I also adore goats cheese but only usually have it when I go out.

Don't forget the celery, grapes and pickled walnuts, to accompany.

Oh Chris, provided I am okey on the day, I do like my different wines with different courses, if only a small glass. Then after the Port, I have to have a small tincture of best Brandy.
Christmas is but once a year (thank Gawd).

This might amuse you Julia..

Every year, i buy a Poinsettia.
In the spring, as much as i don't like to do it, it ends up in the garden where i know it will die.
So this spring, i decided to keep the one i bought last Christmas.
It is lovely and healthy looking, very bushy and has doubled it size in height an width.
So much so, that it has blocked out the light from one of my kitchen windows.

The is no sign of any flowers whatsoever and so i googled last week to find out more information...........only to find that in order for it to flower again, it has to put in a dark place for two months during the spring :-|

So now i am in a quandry, do i throw the bleddy thing as far as i can throw it........or, buy a few imitation flowers and stick them in the pot!!

Decisions, decisions!!! :-D

Well Holly - son has just chucked his out after 8 years as he decided it had become both too large and straggly. However it has remained in the centre of
his large bay window sill facing west for all of those 8 years! Bloomed every Christmas

Julia Report 12 Dec 2011 13:29

Well, erm well. Even my greenfingers have never been successful in keeping one going from one year to the next.
Have you thought of red spray painting a few of the bracts, Pointies don't have flowers.
If taking this advice and you feel able to con the masses who will walk into your house this Christmas, I suggest you do this outside, or you will have red windows.
In other words, lob it on the tip, buy another, and don't try and be such an old meany, another year.

PS. I thought everyone knew you had to keep them in the dark. LOL
