Prickles, I'm afraid unlike puppies and kittens, Poinsettias 'are' just for Christmas. :-0

I know they do not have flowers in the true sense but some leaves turn red giving a floral appearance. Julia - my son could make a stick grow. His first love is a rose and garden has them up fences, in ground, in pots etc. He also counts the blooms as he deheads them (sad I tell him) but informed me this year he had 135 blooms off one bush - I think it was Penny Lane.

Julia I could not believe either that damn thing every Christmas and he knows how old it is because it was his first Christmas in that house.

It makes my heart bleed, when going into the supermarkets in mid Nivemeber, to see pots of Pointies. I know that, more often than not, they will be dead by Christmas, and at best have their lovely red bracts dropping. I refuse to buy them, but they are nice. Some people are lucky in being able to keep them.
