Thats the porch finished on the outside, builder just left. it looks really good and looks like it's part of the house now it has been rough casted.I will have to wait till we have a nice sunny day, it's pouring here at the moment, and I will take some photo's for you all to see.
Now it's all the inside work to get done by OH , a lot of work to be done with drains, plumbing and painting. installing sink, counter tops ,cupboards, floor tiles and the rest is the most important of all ;-) MY JOB filling cupboards, putting all my new basket containers on top of the cupboards , new hand towels, and a couple of new laundry baskets etc, :-D :-D

My Father very seldom spoker of his Father.
I know he was a docker in Port of Belfast but beyond that I know little more than nothing.
Grand Father was in WW, I don't know what regiment he was in but he must have suffered as my Father said he didn't last long, gassed,so I assume he was relatively young.

I really shoud do more research on him.

That's good news Fiona :-D.At last lol

David ,the only thing I know about my Paternal Grandfather is that he was a baker and had a shop in Glasgow. He died before his last child was born.I don't know why I think this but have an idea he was run over by a bus.It left my Granny with 7 children to bring up on her own :-(

Bought 3 small chickens today for £10 .Brilliant buy I thought.Have put 2 in the freezer (which now seems to be working fine) and cooked the other one to have cold with salads at lunch times, and for Chris to put some in his lunch box or pack up as they say around here. Now the carcass is simmering away with some veg to make stock.Chester is drooling all over the place lol

Still no Frank :-S :-S

Warfare is horrible! There surely has to be more sensible solutions.History shows that people killing people isn't the answer. They tend to repeat the mistake a few years later.

In a world that lives by rules such as an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth we run the risk of becomming blind and toothless.

Gas was outlawed after WW1.Not before it had killed thousands and ruined the lungs and sight of a man like my Grand Father.

Mans inhumanity to man has caused the deaths of countless millions.

A baker run over by a bus.
There's two very strong clues Jane.
You will have an approximate date in mind?

There must be something on record.

David I am sure there are more sensible solutions but I think as long as there are Humans sadly there will always be wars.I just hope I never have to live through one....."PEACE MAN"

Well I got the bed sorted and hoovered the kitchen and diner. Washed the bedding and put it on the line, well the pillow cases and put the cover and bottom sheet in the dryer. Then started to look for my bond which I got out the other day and could'nt find it anywhere so had to ring up for a duplicate copy. Since then I have faffed about not doing anything really and I was going to do sooooo much today!! :-|

Fiona

Fiona Report 16 Feb 2012 18:24

JANE,
Thats interesting about your paternal grandfather being a baker and owning a shop in Glasgow, my maternal grandfather trained as a baker in the late 1920's and shortly after could not get work in Glasgow at that time and had to go to Dundee to find work. he then came back to set up a shop in Glasgow with his father who was also a baker , though I don't know where.

As David said there may be a record of how your grandfather died might be something in the newspapers , do you have his death date , or his death cert,
I can look up on Scotlands People for you if you can give me his name and year of death if you haven't

FRANK! What colour is the muck you are coughing up?(sorry anyone squeemish) .Sounds like you might have a Chest infection.Don't be a silly ass.Do as Ros says!

Fiona ,I will see what I can find out about my Grandfather. It will mean I have to ring a cousin or too.I don't even know what his first name was .It's either James or Peter (I think),and only know he died in the early to mid 1920's.

Need to dish dinner up now .OH's tongue is hanging out with starvation :-S

Fiona Report 16 Feb 2012 22:42

Hi Shirl

My G Grandparents moved to Dundee from Glasgow in 1901 after my G Grandfather could not get work as a baker. My Papa (grandfather) was born in Dundee in 1902 in Arbroath Road.along with 2 other siblings, their mother died in 1909 and their father brought them back to Glasgow.
Then when my papa was a qualified Cake & Pastry
Baker in 1930 he was unable to get work in Glasgow, so he left my nana with the children and went back to Dundee and worked with James Couttie & Sons, Ltd for 2 years. he then left Dundee and came home back to his family.

I'm off to bed now

Morning Everyone
It's a very mild morning.I'm back in a cotton top.I have the back door open too at the moment.Mind you I have just stripped the bed and loaded up the machine and had a run round the garden with Chester .That might have something to do with the fact I'm blooming hot lol
Coffee time I think .BBL

Frank that does sound nasty. I agree with Ros and Jane that you should have the doc come and look at you.
