Morning Jane and All,

Bright sunny morning here too but it was a truely frosty night. Still a bit of snow on the car rooves but no fresh falls. I can't tell you what it is like outside as I have'nt been out there yet. Oh let the chickens out and has taken his car for it's MOT so just down to my little old Rover now.

I have to go up the road soon to collect our pills from the docs surgery.

Morning Jane
Morning Mel

Jane , the builders arrived at 8-15 this morning, very frosty and cold here. they sat in their van till 8-45 then started work , I believe they are building the bricks around the porch today, they then have to build 2 steps and put the flagstones back.
but They won't be doing all that today.
Also when they have finished with the bricks, they will come back later when the weather is better to rough cast the bricks so the porch matches the house.
we still need the joiner to come back and seal round the windows & door.
we are getting there, all the building work depends on the weather really.

Off to the dentist this afternoon hopefully after today I will only need one more appointment and that is the treatment to my teeth finished for a LONG while :-\

time to put the kettle on.

Mel, has got hic cups repeating herself.!!!!

Morning all,

Bright, sunny, and cold. Frost still on the shed roof, and down one side of back lawn.

Enjoy your first metting with little Grace, William. Don't squeeze her to tight. <3 <3

Kim, I bet you have been and come back from Sydney. How did it go ????

David I have never heard of RED SPOT BABIES before. Is it something that went on "UP NORTH" ?????

My Mum had a button tin, Every button on anything, was cut of, before being thrown away. It had to be worn out. If there was any wear still in the article it was worn. I remember she would cut off those little rubber buttons from the liberty bodices, they were all soft and sqizzy. Don't thid they were ever used again.

During the war, My eldest brother was in the Navy. and one time was in Italy. He sent home a box of fruit and almonds. When it was empty. It was used for all the insurance books, to be kept in. and up till Mums death was always known as "THE INSURANCE BOX"

I see Mocha is comming round allright now, If he's playing and eating well. He will be fine.

Afternoon everyone,

We had a little snow last night , just enough to lightly cover the ground ,when we got up this morning it had just about gone , my word its cold out there though .

Pat no photo's came through , it always amuses me how pups are playing one minute then they just drop down where they are and just go to sleep !!!

I haven't heard of the red spot babies either David , i hope Ellens feeling better and that what ever it was she had hasn't been passed on to you .

Fiona, hope you get on at the dentists ok ,its nearly time for my check up again ,it seems to come round quick!!

Mel, i read the thread and i thought i've already read this post before LOL
Is OH still on the bowls or has he moved on to making other things now ?

Tomorrow is sister and BIL's Golden wedding , we should be going out for an evening meal so i hope we don't get to much snow ,the restaurant is out in the wilds !!!

Lasagna all made ready for later , i quite fancy a rice pudding so i might make one later .

Time for a cuppa .

Maureen Report 2 Feb 2012 15:05

Photos of Mocha didn't come through here either Pat.

I was born in 1947 but haven't heard of red spot babies.

Another £90 this morning on top of the £180 a couple of weeks ago at the vets, hopefully that will be it for a while. It's outrageous what they charge, I looked at the bill £12 for a dressing on Alfie's leg after his blood test,it was only a bit of stretchy bandage that came straight off when we got home.

Mandy I hope you manage to get out for the meal tomorrow. It might be a bit iffy :-S
Not sure about going to Janice on Saturday. But we can just decide on the day so there's no problem really.I just want to see her.Being bang in the middle of the country we can never be sure quite how bad our weather will be.

Chris has just walked in.He has been to Waitro**,so I had better go and see if he has any interesting goodies

Hi folks,
Just got back from our very first meeting with Baby Grace. Such a perfectly beautiful little baby girl I'm all goo goo. She is gorgeous and has the thickest mop of black hair I've ever seen on a new born. It is like silk to the touch. Her tiny little fingers curled around my own finger, her arm is only as long as the entire lenth of my own hand. What perfect little miracles. This is a day I will treasure forever. And no, Frank, I didn't crush her, just held and looked on in wonder. Four generations in one room, that is really something to think about.

My OH will be 80 at the end of the month and I made a joke which made them all laugh. I said why is this room like a Ferrari - and they all just looked at me, so I replied, because it can do nought to 80 in 10 seconds.

Frank, you were saying about the button tin, well my OH still has a button tin which must have been in the family forever. Not only that but she still uses my late mothers pillow slips. They were the 'sunday best' ones, embroidered with a 2" edge on the outside. They close up with two buttons each, which are made of a metal then covered in cotton material the same as the slips. They wash up perfect every time and look so crisp on the bed. My OH missed meeting my mother by one year, so this is an extra special item to us both. When I think back, I don't think my mother ever actually used them!

These computers have a mind and will of their own Mel ....lol

Such a special day for you and your OH William, baby Grace is going to hear some wonderful stories from you as she grows up. I hardly knew my grandparents never mind g.grandparents so missed out on all the stories they might have told.

It's a liver and bacon kind of day today, with lots of thick gravy, the sort you can stick wallpaper up with.

Jane Report 2 Feb 2012 17:23

I like the sound of your dinner Mel.It's sausages for us tonight with an egg or 2,baked beans and some kind of potato thing.Don't know what yet.Oh and mushrooms.
I used to hate mushrooms, but now eat tons of them.I bet I will be asked what's for pudding. The will be out of luck ....there is none :-S

I just saw in the paper that the Father an old school pal of James has died.He was only 57. :-( :-( same as me.

I think it is taters everywhere tonight Mel.I haven't heard that in a while lol and it is going to get even colder !!.It may be that I leave the heating on low tonight.
Can't have poor old Chester shivering :-)

William. Grace sounds so cute.As Mel says we would love to see her :-D,if that's possible.

Hi Folks,

Another Brrrrrrr day, but warmer and less frost than I expected.

I have a dentist appointment in a fortnight too. :-( I had to cancel the one over Christmas when I wasn't well. How did they build your teeth up Fiona, is it with veneers?

Got the pics now Pat thank you. :-D He is a handsome boy isn't he. Once you can take him out I think he will make you lots of new friends!! lol

It is FIL's 91st birthday today and we took him and MIL out for lunch to the carvery they like. FIL was in fine fettle and looking very smart. He loved all of his pressies. MIL at 78 not so good. She has had some of her tablets changed recently, so we don't know if it is that, but she said her legs had felt wobbly for a day or 2 and she didn't trust her balance. She is off to the docs again tomorrow. So it was the sprightly 91 year old that was offering his arm to steady her rather than the other way around!! :-D OH asked him if he still did his morning exercises. 'Oh yes', he said and that he used the exercise bike as well as flinging his arms in and out RAF drill style. MIL agreed saying he often nearly knocked her head off if she was in the way.

Hope your OH's car passed the MOT Mel, my OH's has to go in tomorrow for a new headlamp......MORE EXPENSE! I still can't actually believe he has booked it in on the 1 morning a week I do something! Typical, now I will have to be up with the lark to go with him and give him a lift home in time for me to get to my class! MEN! :-S

Maureen, my 2 friends with the horses say it costs a mint with the vet. One had a tube of ointment that cost £30 and she said it didn't last five minutes!! I think they must make a lot of profit on some things........as you say a bandage doesn't cost much.

OH has had the results of his x rays which were normal, so that is good, but he has managed to pull a muscle in the rib area today and has had to go and lay down as he can't move without it hurting!! :-S

Better go and do a few 'house' jobs now......

Maureen

Maureen Report 2 Feb 2012 17:45

It wasn't even a whole bandage Ann, just a little strip, and they charge about £7 just to dispense tablets.

Does OH take after his dad Ann, nice to think he will be sprightly at 90 too.

I thought of you yesterday Fiona, I was watching a DVD of Cliff and the Shadows The Final Reunion, it was great, all my old favourites, I was singing at the top of my voice. They probably needed ear plugs next door ....lol

Hi how is everyone well I hope .Have not had time to read the threads although I did read that Frank s puss cat died. So sorry Frank

Little Teddy died also.I was informed by the vet Teddy had a bad heart He was twelve years old. My adopted doggie. I decided to go for a holiday with the dogs to Bewdley we had a very nice cottage right on the high street and close to the river. During our stay the local people were all talking about a lady who was murdered and lived in a cottage close to the river. We visited other places also.Worcester and Kidderminster.

We went out for meals and only had breakfast in the cottage. It was nice you walked into the lounge and it had one bedroom and a small bathroom with shower and a huge farmhouse type kitchen with a deck in the middle which contained a cooker. Outside at the back no garden just a courtyard with boxes and hanging plants. The drawback the toilet was in the courtyard so cold at night if you got up.
The weather was nice at first then went freezing cold and we had to wear really warm jumpers and things. The dogs loved the walks but little Teddy was struggling and sometimes he did not want to come out with us.

We went to see the film Warhorse. Also I cooked a very nice dinner one evening and we curled up by the log fire hubby did not last the evening he fell asleep snoring so loud I had to give him a poke with the fire utensil to wake him. Mostly we spent the evenings in the local pub talking to the local people who were very pleasant. Playing darts.

Arriving home grandaughter April was in disgrace she and two friends were watching Big Brother and saw Jedwood whoes aunt lives just across the road from us in a posh bungalow at the side of the very nice park we have . The monsters decided to gel there hair with Marmalade
and Jessica and I had to wash there hair and dry it. it took ages and I had to phone the parents and ask if I should wash it. They said yes and I think were somehow put out about it from the re-action I got when I rang .

Teddy died the next day and I cried buckets .Jasper was very upset and misses his friend. He would not go out and hardly ate anything. He is ok now.
I went to see Brenden Cole at the theatre he was very talented and sang and he taught us all the Salsa. I got a kiss when he decided to come down the isle to kiss a lady .He struggled passed me stepping on my foot
to wish her happy birthday. He apologised and squeezed passed me and did it again coming back. I said when he said sorry again do I get a kiss only joking and he said yes you deserve one with me standing on your foot twice. Well it was so funny he kissed me on my cheek and gave me a hug and said sorry babe and all these girls sat behind screamed so loud
it nearly deafened me and Michelle my daughter. The spotlight was on us and I went very red. But with a wink off Robin Cousons when in Grease singing Beauty School Dropout and a kiss off Brenden I felt very happy still old though.

Friend Beryl really upset me she decided to leave Donnie who was in disgrace because he was surposed to take a bag of old clothes to the Oxfam shop and picked up Beryls dry cleaning a skirt, jacket and a dress and took that to Oxfam instead . Beryl comes on the phone screaming like a stuck pig and says Sheila get your car out and go to Cottridge to the Oxfam shop quick Donnies took my clothes for cleaning girl and they are all fairly new. I said you go phone them up and tell them not to sell them I thought what does she think I am. I said you married the drain brain. Oh that did it I was called every name she could think of .I put the phone down

Dopey Don was afraid to go home so he came to our place Beryl had called him some very nasty names and told him if her clothes were not returned that very day she would kill him. I said have you got the clothes and he said Oh Sheil you know me girl I got the clothes back . I nearly hit him I said you should be more careful he said tell you what old girl give me a box of chocolate for the old bat and that should do the trick to get her in a good mood again. I said you can pay for the chocolates and not so much of the old bat. He said I call her worst than that Sheil hahaha.

My ho was looking on very amused by the whole thing and April said you are funny uncle Donnie Ryan said your a nutter and Jessica nearly had a fit .Donnie said April when are you going to America she said in two weeks and he said pity I hoped it would be tomorrow . Well I will miss her
but she does cause havoc loose pages pages out of my books the computor never seems to work after Aprils been on it and while I was away she painted her finger nails with some special spray I have for my craft bright pink and it does not dry for ages and she put it everywhere .
Jessica said I think America will not know whats hit them when April arrives.

Matts mother does not want them to leave and take the granchildren away and shes written us some very nasty letters.

Gosh it is cold in Birmingham at the moment this computor room is freezing me sat here so will go and get a coffee to warm me up.
Take care everyone .
Belated birthday wishes to Liz.
Kim do hope your ok . Maureen thanks for noticing I was not on here and the information you gave me . Thanks for all the wishes of a nice holiday
it was sad teddy died but the holiday was nice and I went for him really thats why it was so sudden.Hello to all my friends taking it for granted I have some that is. .
