Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Jan 2012 11:16

Hi not a very happy day for me today. A little light went out of my life yesterday. I lost Henny Penny. She spent all day outside the back door looking very poorly and I brought her in and put her in a box in the lounge but sadly she passed away last night about 12am.

Oh has buried her this morning in the garden just outside my old shed where she liked to sit in the sun.

For those of you who remember her she was the first of three chicks left for dead by their mums. Henny was the first one and I brought her down the garden in my pocket after reviving her in the greenhouse incubater. Mums new pet she was. Lived in a box in the lounge with a desk lamp over her and I added two more chicks for company.

Oh Mel
so sad to read about Henny Penny, you have done a great job of rearing all your little chicks. you have a natural gift when looking after all sorts of birds. Henny Penny is now with your mum who can go on looking after her.

Jane

Jane Report 2 Jan 2012 11:30

Oh Mel .I'm sorry about poor Henny Penny.I remember those photos you took of her and the other chicks with the lamp and your Mum's pink pants!.I think a ping pong ball as well(not sure why I think that.)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Jan 2012 11:47

Yes they had a ping pong ball too. It kept them occupied cuddleing up to it and it moved away!

I lost Cockle a couple of years ago but still have Tiny Miny but she is not the same as Henny as I could always pick her up and walk around with her. At least I have my pics of her and as you say she is now back with mum.

Sun is out here today but the ground is still waterlogged. It is the first real sunshine we have had since before Christmas. The bit we had the other day only lasted about 20mins. Washing machine is on and the ironing is still waiting to be done so I better go off and do some!!

Glad everyone seems to have enjoyed their new year celebrations. Lets hope it is a nicer summer this year than it was last for us anyway. It was so wet here and there were Frank Jane and Mandy wishing it would rain.

Mel sad news of Henny Penny. I was hoping she would come good for you. If you still have the photos of her, I would love to see them. No hurry.

Off to the couch for some tv. Hope everyone has a good day. 10.59 pm DST

Evening Kim, Shirl. and afternoon to all the others,

Sorry to hear your news Mel, You will have to get some chicks, to replace her. You might find one just like her.

I didn't know Kims son was O.k. now. Silly boy. I can honestly say, the number of times I have been drunk, I have never been incapable. I could always get home and find my bed, even though when I got in it IT would spin round the room !!!

We have had a pleasent new year. We bought up a Turkey crown which we had yesterdat, and a two Rib of BEEF for today. What's over we will take back with us Tomorrow or Wednesday.

Ros has gone of to Bristol with Jan. to take ELLA back. They will meet Joe at the CRIBBS CAUSEWAY. and go and have a look round the sales (MORE EXPENCE)

Conrad and I will have a nice peaceful day, on our computers, or me reading my book.

Pleased you all had a great New Years Eve.

Last nights "EASTENDERS" didn't do me any fovours. I was nursing my Father with Cancer all through Christmas and New Year in 1957/8 And I must say it was a lot harder for me then, than it was for Butchers.
Jane I have PMd you.

Afternoon everyone ,

Lovely and sunny here today ,got the washing blowing on the line ,just trying to catch up with it all, now doing a boil wash ,loads of tea towels from yesterday and some from last week.

We've got lots of food left over from yesterday to eat up more Gammon ,Beef and Turkey ,all the nibbly bits will have to go out ,i don't like waste but we'll never eat them all , i said to hubby next year i'am not going to buy all these bits .
There's trifle , Gateau, Roulade and about four different creams too.
We've been most of the morning tidying round ,and putting the best china and glasses away for another year .
Hubby's back to work on Wednesday so tomorrow we'll take the decorations down and he'll be here to put them back up in the loft ,then i'll be able to give the rooms a good dust ,your right about the sun showing up all the dust !!! i noticed that this morning !!!

Mel, sorry to hear you've lost your little Henny Penny , you gave her a loving home she couldn't have asked for more .

Oh dear poor Fitz , he might be round to use the loo too then Jane LOL

Jane

Jane Report 2 Jan 2012 15:08

LOL Mandy .I did say they are welcome to come and use the loos if desperate for the big business (if you know what I mean ) ;-)This is the 3rd time in 3 weeks that their soak away thing with the septic tank has blocked. It costs them £90 a time to get someone out.His washing is in and now he has gone to the tip with a load of bags of rubbish.I can't imagine what it must have been like at their house for the last 3 days feeding and cooking etc for 19 people :-S :-S.
I had a bit of a clear out in the fridges earlier .Too many things have been opened and are now way out of date.So they have been binned.

Frank I bet Cribbs Causeway will be heaving !!!!My sister goes there sometimes.I have seen the queues leading off the M5 to get there !!!.Ros will be exhausted .

I think I might take down the Xmas cards today and then tonight I will sit and make a list of who I have had from ready to put away for next year.Chris has taken down all the bits of Holly around the place. They will go on the fire which we have just lit.It is feeling quite nippy now.
PLEASE don't mention DUST :-S :-S :-S :-| :-| :-|

My tree and decorations came down yesterday, doesn't it look bare when they've gone.

Went to bed early last night after my 5.00 am 'rave' had a really good nights sleep, cold still lingering, keep sniffing then blowing then sniffing, nothing helps.

Poor little Henny Penny, but for the short time she was with you Mel she was loved and cared for so had a happy life.

Alfie has jumped up on the computer table looking for more chocolate cake, he'll be lucky it went out in the bin, that's it now, back to healthy eating and exercise for both of us.

Fitz is lucky to have such a good friend and neighbour in you Jane, there's nobody around here that I would or could ask.

Poor old Pat (eastenders) wonder if it was her choice to leave the soap, still we've got her son back for a while, really fancy him. Why is it a lot of the guys I fancy are gay ...... :-0

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 2 Jan 2012 15:29

Jane, hubby said that it sounds as if Fitz needs a new Tail Drain ,water is blocking up and not getting away ,the septic tank is probably not full ,he's sure its just the Tail Drain.
How many rooms has Fitz got !! having 19 people to feed and water must be a nightmare !! we had 9 here yesterday and that was busy enough .

It looks so bare when all the cards and trimmings come down ,my holly has gone a bit dry , doesn't it crackle when you put it on the fire .

Time for another cuppa .

AnninGlos Report 2 Jan 2012 15:51

Frank Ooh that is brave, Cribbs on a bank holiday. I bet theyw ere fighting for parking spaces, even though there are absolutely loads of spaces they do get full bank holidays. Yes, we have seen then backed right down the motorway.

Jane

Jane Report 2 Jan 2012 15:56

Mandy ,they have had trouble for years with the tank ,soak away etc.I think lot of the problem is where they are situated and the clay (type soil). They have been through insurance people and all sorts over the yearsI think it will for ever be an ongoing problem. They have had all kinds of experts too.Shame they are too far away to get put on the main drains.
Just 4 bedrooms !.Everyone just bunks down on blow up beds ,settees ,summerhouse .Anywhere really lol. They didn't dare use the dishwasher, and had to spend hours washing everything in bowls :-S :-S

I can't believe how cold it has got in the last few hours.'tis blooming freezing :-S

Maureen ,I always quite fancied David Wicks (is he gay in real life)? Is that him now been and gone from Eastenders or is he going to be around for a while?.I did have a few tears over my ironing when Pat was going :-(

Sorry Frank to make light of it .It must have been so difficult for you nursing your Dad.I know you feel it still. <3

Maureen

Maureen Report 2 Jan 2012 16:12

It's turned really cold here as well.

Michael French, yes, gay in real life, not in the soap, it's that look I go for, always fancied Dirk Bogart and Rock Hudson. Think he's back in the soap for a while.

What's Cribbs?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 2 Jan 2012 16:46

Got my washing in , wasn't dry !! i think its really cold out there now too .

I didn't know Michael was gay , i see Nick Berry is coming back to East Enders too , i liked him in the Heartbeat .

Jane

Jane Report 2 Jan 2012 16:54

Maureen Cribbs is a big Shopping place just on the outskirts of Bristol.Bit like Blue Water

Maureen

Maureen Report 2 Jan 2012 16:55

Sounds very tasty Mandy, a good way to use up the leftovers too.

Is Nick Berry the other son Simon who is in NZ.

It's a normal day for me so I shall be out tonight picking up the ironing, there'll be twice as much this week as they usually save it up.
:-(

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 2 Jan 2012 17:07

Yes that's right Maureen, i don't remember what the story line was for him to be written out now .

What time will you be round to collect my ironing pile then LOL:-D
I don't mind ironing really ,what i carn;t stand is when you start ironing some thing and on the last bit you find a stain !!! i usually chuck it down in disgust lol

Maureen

Maureen Report 2 Jan 2012 17:09

oops just saw you there Jane, thanks for that, I've never heard of it. I love shopping but Bristol is probably a mile too far ... :-D
