Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Jan 2012 08:54

Good morning and the sun is out here!!!! It is shining through the window in the lounge and through the doors of the lounge and right into my left eye as I sit here at the pooter.

Hope Joel is ok this morning or should I say this evening.

Did you all sleep well last night? I did and not a drop of alc passed my lips. I did have some shortbread though..... like Mandy. Once I had read she had had some I fancied it ad had a small pack in the lounge ready to give as a pressy if I needed it. I needed it last night after Mandy's message! :-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

I didnt stay round next doors to see the new year in..Watched the fireworks on the TV in London..They were good.

His meal was Ok ...but his house was so cold...Came back after a couple of hours to get another cardi...We knew he didnt have any furniture before we went round..so sat on garden chairs.....
He now has to sort that out,,,but he hasent been in any hurry to do that..He has No tv shall I say it again NO TV said he has been used to not having one for a year...He says he might not get one now...He lives on his own so is in his own little world..
His parents had been staying there over christmas and text him and said when they got home they found a black box in their frontroom and when they turned this on it came alive with pictures and sound..I think they missed the TV too..
The neighbours my side are going round tonight for a meal...
He still has a lot to do in there to make it feel homely..Curtains furniture etc...
At least I got to see it finished inside now...

Im going to try my new mop out today Woh .And then do about a weeks ironing that should keep me busy. so will catch you all later.

Morning All.
Hello 2012.....There were so many fireworks going off last night. It was noisier than Bonfire night !.I saw several of those chinese lantern floating across the sky.I do think they look lovely ,but hope they haven't landed on any livestock :-S.I did see one the other day in the field where the cows are.

Pat it sounds a bit bleak at your next door neighbours. He sounds quite a strange man.I won't be doing any mopping today lol,but have a few shirts to get ironed.

Oh Mel poor Henny Penny. She was one of the 3 chicks way back wasn't she?I hope she will be alright.

It is very blustery here and lots of cloud.James and Jess are still asleep .I think it was 4am when they got home.I'm so glad I decided not to cook for lunchtime :-D

I hope Kim will be having a good sleep .Joel is home from the hospital thank goodness.
I must get a move on.Think I may put the heating back on,it feels a little chilly.Brrr!

Patricia

Patricia Report 1 Jan 2012 13:52

Jane Report 1 Jan 2012 14:36

Love the pic Pat.or should I call you Mrs.Mop ;-)My ironing can wait. The shirts were still damp so went back in the tumble d.I have a Chicken cooking at the mo and then I have a half leg of Lamb to go in.Not sure how much James and Jess will feel like eating later,BUT they WILL eat.I will be like my Mum and say they will sit at the table until the plates are clear :-D
Jess has a right stinker of a cold now.I hope she doesn't pass it on
:-S.
Chris has been busy in the garden cutting back things and has a bonfire on the go.
Fiona I bet your Daughter is thrilled with the TV.A great extra Xmas Present. :-D
SNOW! I wonder if it will come as far south as here.I quite fancy a bit of the white stuff now.The weather has been too warm for Christmas. Not even a bit of frost.
It is so dark here now.The fire is lit just to make it cheery.Have turned off the heating as it was a bit stifling ,plus having the cooker on :-S
James is just going off to help his friend take down the Marquee from last night. He is sorry now that he promised to do it when he was a bit drunk last night lol.

Well, I am just about in the land of the living, had a lovely evening, we were chatting so much we nearly missed the big event, brother said it was the best New Years Eve he's ever had. I am feeling a little worse for wear, could be this wretched cold of course, but didn't get to bed to nearly 5.00 am after quite a few glasses of wine and then a glass of champagne at midnight. The fireworks were quite spectacular but being my mothers daughter I said, ..... I wonder whose paying for that lot .......

Great photo William, I'm guessing it's you and your lovely wife.

How is Henny Penny Mel, hope she's okay.

Did you hear from Kim then Jane to know Joel is home, I bet he's feeling very fragile he probably won't do that again.

Your neighbour does sound a bit odd Pat, how old is he?

William

William Report 1 Jan 2012 14:46

Hi everyone, hope no one is too hung over today! I had a glass of wine (or three) to welcome the New Year in last night while we watched the terrific firework show from London last night on TV. My favourite sound is when you open a fresh bottle and you get that wonderful 'glug glug glug' as the wine goes into a glass for the first time, ah, heaven.
Yes Millie, that's meself and OH with last years arrival, our great-granddaughter adding to the family tree, Maggie Georgina by name, and such a good child. Sister to our first great-grandson Ralph. Another one expected (not same parents) in a month or two all being well. It's hard to believe that I hardly knew my own grandparents, just shows how long we live these days.
Enjoy the rest of the day, I will

<3 <3 :-D HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 TO ALL MY FRIENDS ON HERE :-D <3 <3

Poor old Henny Penny Mel. She isn't old is she. Perhaps she ate something that has upset her.

Pat, your neighbour didn't have much in the way of 'home comforts' for you did he! lol I hope your other neighbour takes her cardi with her!! He reminds me a bit of a chap I knew years ago. He worked at the same place as my first OH and lived a short distance from us on a main road into the city. He was a really nice chap in his 60s then and had had several heart attacks and lived with his wife in a huge double fronted house in a half acre garden with a porch held up with those roman style pillars. I used to pick him up and drop him at work at times in the winter as he was nervous of driving when there was snow on the ground and had asked my OH if I would mind. If it was more than a couple of days he would be so grateful and there would always be a little box of chocs for me. In the course of these journeys he told me he did all the house painting and garden himself, no mean feat as the house was painted pebbledash! Also that they had no TV! Living in this big house, the only car he had was one of those tiny D*f cars. I never went inside the house, but often wondered what it would be like and whether they had radiators!!!

I was watching a horror film when the fireworks went off. Cold Creek House about a nutter who murdered his family, lost his big old house where he hid the bodies and then he came back when the new people moved in. Not many fireworks around here, but there was a second flurry at 1.00 am.

What a nice pic William......proud grandparents!.......Oooops GREAT grandparents!!

My head is still stuffed up with the cold but the cough was a lot better last night. I feel worn out though and (not like me!) don't fancy going out anywhere yet. OH has gone to the match at Nuneaton this afternoon with 2 mates. I always tell him to be careful at this one...........known for punch ups in the past!!

Jane Report 1 Jan 2012 15:19

5am !!!!! Maureen .You did well lol.Glad you had a great evening.
Yes I had a message from Kim.Joel thank heavens was alright ,but it did sound very scary for them. Now her poor OH is down with the bug that her daughter has.
William ,like you say the Glug Glug is a lovely sound isn't it.Talking of Grandparents.I only ever knew my Granny Richardson. She scared the pant's off me lol.I didn't see her that often as she lived in Moffat (Scotland) and I was in Plymouth. She had been a Maths teacher in her younger days and probably was quite a fierce teacher I think she had the nickname 'the Hawk' as she had eyes in the back of her head .She was one of very few women of her time who went to Uni and she had several degrees ,so a very clever lady.

It's smelling very nice here.Chicken cooked and Lamb in now.Chester is walking around with his nose sniffing the air lol.He can keep sniffing ....he won't be getting anything. :-S

Maureen Report 1 Jan 2012 15:52

I remember a very scary great aunt, called Aunt Toots. She was only about 4 ft something but she wore an old black dress that came down to her feet, her hair was a grey/white and tied back in a bun with wispy bits escaping that hung round her face, she had a very bulbous nose and she smoked a pipe. She would make a bee line for me and I would run screaming and hide behind my mum, poor old lady, she didn't have any children of her own and was I'm sure only playing.

I'm trawling through the bridal sites for daughter whose getting married in June, she already has her dress but we are looking at bridesmaids dresses now and Alfie is sitting on the computer table finishing off my plate of chocolate pudding with cream, not that I left much but he has licked the plate clean and now licking his lips. I've got to stop eating all these Christmas goodies. Christmas cake is finished so is the Christmas pudding that just leave this chocolate cream cake, I'm going to be good and throw the rest in the bin.

Did anyone watch the programme yesterday about the lady with the rescue centre that had 700 cats!! She had acres of land and used to be a model. All the cats were very well looked after and all roam free on her land. She even goes to animal adoption places and takes in the less adoptable cats. You should have heard the noise when the food tins came out!!! lol A lovely lady..... everywhere looked spick and span and clean.

Maureen, sounds like Alfie enjoyed your pud as much as you did! My word, you've got some stamina....5.00am!!! Glad you all had a good time.

Yes I bet Joel might be feeling a bit uncomfortable with all the trouble and worry he's caused too. Maybe it will be a wake up call.

Mel, what has happened to you and your red wine??? First the ciggies and is it alcohol now?? How are you doing with your electronic ciggy?

Simple meal for us when OH gets back.........a chicken and spinach pasta with garlic bread.

Morning Everyone

Had a scattering of snow but has melted now,
OH & MIL left at 10.00am so I now have the day to myself, OH due back about 5.30pm.

Going to put on washing machine as there is a load of T towels and two of my Christmas tablecloths to be washed, then I can start putting all my Christmas table ware back in the cupboard till next year.

OH goes back to work on Wednesday so, tomorrow we will have to start taking down decorations, and the tree .
OH not sure about where he is working so I don't want him dashing abroad and I'm left with all the trimmings as I can't reach some of them even when I'm standing on ladders.

Maureen, I have sickened my self with chocolate this Christmas, I think mainly because I could enjoy it.
Family have noticed that my face is looking a bit fuller and my collar bones no longer stick out so much
I am glad to say I have put on a couple of pounds since my op. so I now weigh 6 st 7lbs. ideally I want to be just 7st, that is a comfortable wieght for me.

Time to put kettle on, and put in the first load of washing.
