Hi Everyone! Another 'busy' morning!!! managed to get car into the garage by the skin of my teeth!! Got in to Dulverton OK when it suddenly spluttered, jolted and then chugged the final 100 yards or so!!! the young man came out to see me said "That doesn't sound very healthy"!! You could say!!! golly, was I glad to get it there! anyhow they very kindly gave me a lift home and will sort out the problem ASAP. Luckily I have a friend who will bring Ian home hopefully tomorrow, so all SHOULD be well!! Same friends went to see him yesterday, and said he seemed quite ill, which was a bit worrying, he'd been very sick and the drugs were making him very whoozy. Today I've rung and they told me that he had a better night and that the Doctor was very pleased with him, so all things being equal, tomorrow should be the day! Today it is very cold here and, like you Jane we have tiny flurries of snow. Poor old Millie is still upset, and keeps following me around whining softly to herself! bit irritating really, but I'm being patient!!! My kitchen floor needs a real birthday Fiona, it's absolutely FILTHY, so this afternoon I shall give it a good wash! I'm also clearing out the airing cupboard, a good job done, as my Granny used to say! I once childminded for an Irish lady, and they call an Airing Cupboard, The Hot Press!!! When she first asked me to take some clothes there, I didn't know what she meant!! She must have thought I was a right old dim wit!!

District nurse just left. She will come on a daily basis to dress Ros's HOLE. Not a pretty sight. She had a good night last night, I never hit her once. I have got her breakfast, put some colours in the washing machine, and hoovered through. Just going to get a coffee and a sandwhich. Braised beef, Mash, and veg for tonight. Should have put in slow cooker early this morning. Just to show that I have one to JANE> !!!!

So glad Ros seems better Frank. You certainly are a good husband. Ian cooks a lot, but not much housework to be seen!!! All quiet here for the minute! Have swept and washed my kitchen floor, the water was FILTHY! quite shaming!!! went up to the village shop and bought a Crunchy Bar (!) and Leek!! will make some soup tomorrow, and a Fish Pie; should 'hit the spot' particularly in this cold weather.

Hi Frank , glad Ros slept well.

We have at the moment a big lorry out side in the street, just outside my house opened up the drains and cleaning them out with water ,must be blocked with a lot of grit thats been put down in the last few weeks with the frosty weather, our roads & pavements are filthy and badly cracked and the pot holes in the roads are a nightmare.

Anne Report 27 Jan 2011 13:10

Hi Everyone

It is so cold here today but it is bright and sunny. No sore throat today just a thick head and slight shivers. Think my day indoors has worked.
Popped into town to move more ice cream and do a bit of shopping in Morr**ons.
Hubby gonebirding as we have lots of bramblings around and a report of two otters on the river.
Frank You sound as though you are a real treasure and I hope Ros is feeling better.

Liz I hope Ian is feeling better today and will be home soon.
I spent some time in a Spanish hospital last year and it was a very interesting experience. We only found one member of staff who spoke English but thankfully everyone spoke French so we mamaged, along with sign language, quite well. I now know Spanish words which the average tourist never needs to use!!
I was extremely well looked after and they even put out most of the lights at night so patients could sleep.
Now for more family history

Afternoon All,

Glad to hear Ros is home Frank and that you are being a real treasure of a husband taking good care of her.

It sounds as if your OH is on the mend now Liz and feeling a bit better today. What a pain all that trouble with the car and at the worst possible time!! Sounds like a bit of dirt in the fuel line or carbueretter sticking(sp).......hope the garage can sort it pronto for you.

I went to the Record Office for one of their talks this morning, set off in a short sleeve t shirt and jacket, came out and it was bitterly cold by then so came straight home instead of browsing around the shops.

I am hoping our cabbage palms on the front are ok. They seem to be shedding some of the greener leaves as well as the old brown ones now.......not a good sign. They must be about 10-12 feet high and so are not as protected from the weather as when they were small.

Our new shredder has arrived so I better unpack it and give it a testing today. There is plenty to shred!!

Lots of jobs need doing, but I am not in the mood to get on with them. lol Maybe I'll do a bit of FH like Anne.......it's more interesting.

Annx Report 27 Jan 2011 15:01

That's quite a walk Chris is doing Jane......7 and a half miles!! Sounds like his walking boots will be well muddy after that. We keep meaning to go to look at the locks, it's ages since we've been and I think they have been doing some restoration work on the inclined plane since we last went.

Frank glad Ros had a good nights sleep. Much better to be in your own bed when not too well. Give her my regards please.

Anne have just sent you the 1911 census for Benjamin. Had it looked up on the Records board!!

Annx it is bitter here too and now must corn the chickens.

I'm late!!!!!

Afternoon all
Have been to the hairdressers, and only just got there in time.I was sat here all cosy with a coffee .Checked the time of the appointment and it was 2pm ,not 3 as I thought.Last time I went at 11 am and my appointment was at 2 pm !!!!!!!!
Nigel and I had a right laugh.I don't know how but we got on to the subject of hugging .I said I was a hugger ,and he said he was too ,so most natural thing to do was to have one lol.It was nice ,and he does do a good hug.We were in stitches ,and he said he wondered what on earth everyone thought was happening.

I hope all our patients are feeling less sore today .Is it tomorrow Liz that Ian will be home or don't you know yet
Chester has been licking his front leg a lot today and making (annoying noises).I thought maybe his arthritis may be playing up even though he 's not limping.I have just given him a Tramadol and now he looks zonked out lol.....PEACE!!

What on earth is a Younker.??I wonder if your Benjamin was in the Navy or at the Dockyard in Plymouth Anne.I grew up in Plymouth .I know the place very well !
Must check the Slow Cooker.I still can't get used to the fact it really doesn't need to be checked at all.

Not particularly good news on the Ian front. I rang this evening and he is still in a lot of pain, and has had to have an X-Ray as he has developed crackling on his lungs!! which they are treating with anti-biotics. Oh dear, what a week it's been!!! I'm slightly worried about MRSA or any other nasties that might come out of that hospital, but as it stands at the moment I can't see him back here much before next week at this rate. I have to ring the hospital tomorrow at 12 noon to see what the story is on that front, also the garage to get an update on the car!!! Merlin is being really brilliant, so good and no trouble at all, so that's one good thing. Sorry to be a misery, but even I feel sorry for the patient, so he must sound rough!!

Annx Report 27 Jan 2011 18:32

LOL Jane. My hairdressers send text reminders out the day before your appt now!! They know what we are like!! Yesterday I searched all over for my container of teabags..........couldn't find them anywhere, retraced steps, looked everywhere I'd been, all the cupboards etc. They were in the FRIDGE!!!! lol

Yes....what is a younker?

Oh I meant to say we had one of those funny upward pointing iciles up the garden today. I forgot to take a pic!! It is in a pot of water in the trap. The pot has frozen and the ice has come up in the middle in a point. If it is there tomorrow I'll take a picture.

6.49pm

Been getting told off for fussing around her. I lost my RAG and blew my top. I have naturally been concerned about her, and I've had the shakes and felling a bit down, so now we arn't talking.

Sorry to hear that Ian, isn't too good, lets hope there's nothing to worry about.

District nurse took a swab of the Hole this morning said it looked angry (LIKE ME) sent it off for tests.

What are you like ANN, ICED TEA did you have it with milk or lemon ????

Hugs going around the hairdressers eh, what will people think ????

Mel on Boxing Day we were at Jans daughters and their water feayure was frozen, and the water was stll pumping up into the frozen water. Never had a camera, would have won prizes. !!!!

Evening everyone,

Had the family here today ,little Katie's chest is still ruckerly ,you can hear it when she breathes ,and DIL says she has four teeth coming through too.

We've had a few flurries of very fine snow ,it was white on the shed roof at one point ,but it soon went .

Sorry to hear that your OH is still in pain Liz, hope they can sort him out and that he's soon home .

Well it was me not talking to hubby at the weekend ,now it's Frank not talking !!! try a nice cup of tea Frank lol it worked for me !! oh and don't forget the biscuit.
Your probably both tired , it's worrying and stressful for both of you.

Jane Report 27 Jan 2011 19:38

DEEP BREATHS Frank.Keep cool calm and collected lol.Maybe Ros thinks you are fussing too much and just needs a little breathing space.Sometimes when we are concerned we can go a bit over the top!!But we can't help it.

Liz ,sorry to hear that Ian may not be home yet.Hopefully it is nothing to worry about.Maybe the crackly thing is to do with having a tube stuck down for the anesthetic and his 'tubes' are a bit inflammed.I'm sure he will be fine.

I should have suggested to Nigel (hairdresser ) that all the staff have a group hug before the start of work each day lol.I think there is nothing nicer than a good hug.

I don't know what to say about your teabags Ann !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lolol.
I do that kind of thing sometimes .
Must go and add some cornflour ,mustard and water to the slow cooker and then a little cream. Then cook the new potatoes .I can't see us eating just yet.

Chris enjoyed his walk.He met lots of Ramblers coming his way .About 40 of them .He said it was "Good Morning.Good Morning ,Good Morning.lol

just got back from daughter no 1 house . OH decided to take daughter no 2 old tumble dryer to her sisters as daughter no 1 was saying she was fed up with wet towels and sheets hanging about the house, we don't need another tumble dry here so daugher no 1 might as well get some use out of it.
Sofia was thrilled to see us and we got lots of cuddles but when it was time to go. Oh dear tears and tears, she's never done that before, I expect it was because we came to her house and not her visiting us.

Going to have a relaxing bubble bath and read my book, OH fixing his bike in the kitchen, he better not make a mess I washed the floor today
