Linda - I'm curious too:-))

This line is one I've not really investigated but the amazing thing is - some of this line emigrated to Australia and some of them are still around in a large town in Victoria. It would be easy to contact them as they have an genealogy website.

I am sorting out the Christmas tree for the community display in the church Berona. We normally try to do something tourist related, but this years theme of "All the trimmings" has us stumped. We had some ideas but talking to other people they are doing those ,so we are just trimming up the tree with Christmas goodies. I have cooked sausages and stuffing balls to varnish. We have made some mince pies from salt dough. I have a big tin of sweets to scatter on it, but the sweets are removed, as are all the Ferrrero Rocher chocolates which are now stuffed with paper. We will also use lots of crackers, paper chains etc

Colin did say he would be working Friday, so he might not see our greetings until this evening, but I'm sure he will see them - especially the cake. Hope he saves us a slice each.

As for removing the chocolates from the Ferrero Rocher papers - there is only one place they go when I do that!!

I bet someone takes a sweet or chocolate from the tree, they are going to be very disappointed when they find they are stuffedwith newspaper.

I bought the really cheap supermarket own brand sausages because I needed to do quite a few of them. They look fine once they are cooked and once varnished they will not go bad. They are the most disgusting things, they are just full of a pink paste which is mechanically reclaimed meat sludge.. how any one can eat them, I don't know

Amanda2003 Report 25 Nov 2010 23:03

There is a saying isn't there ....." people sleep better at night , who don't know how laws or sausages are made " ( or words to the effect ) .
I hope no one tries to bite a varnished sausage !! lol

Linda - Ferrero Rocher are my favourites:-)) Save some for me.

I well remember speaking to the mother of a local butcher who made special sausages for his mum as - in his words - "I don't want you eating what we put on the shelves". She thought it was funny - I didn't. The ones we get from the butcher in our local shopping centre are very nice - in fact they've won awards.

That must be a strange Norfolk saying Amanda, I haven't come across it.
I am tired so am off to bed. I hope we don't get much more snow as I have Meals on Wheels to do.

Good night everyone nd enjoy your sun down under.

Happy birthday as well Colin

Diane

Diane Report 25 Nov 2010 23:06

Linda you are so mean, talking about all those choccie's ( spelt it your way as mine was spelt like the horror film ) and then saying you will eat one for me, why can't me eat it for me :(

I agree with you about the sausages, but some of them do taste nice if you don't think about what is inside, it must be all the additive's they add lol,

Berona Report 25 Nov 2010 23:08

Well, it's been nice talking to all of you, but I have things to do and my bones are feeling stiff. I normally leave the computer and do a job, then come back, and so on....but to-day, I have stayed, so now I must be off to do what should already be done! I can't sit or stand for very long. I have to be up and down, to keep the joints working properly.

Sleep well and keep warm, Brits. Stay cool, Aussies (and Kiwis if you are there, Perse).

I just saw your post Sue. I buy sausages from our local butcher as well, they are made on the premises and are made from real meat. The butchers have local competitions for their sausages and pies. I had just forgotten how disgusting the supermarket cheap ones are. I actually tried a little bit and it was absolutely tasteless.
Good night again
