I've got one on my wrist and am on the waiting list to have it removed.

Has anyone had this? Can anyone say how long they were off work after the operation and how it affected them? i.e. driving, using your wrist etc

Thanks for any info or tips,

Selena

They usually go on their own...an old remedy was to whack it with a heavy book!!! Not that I am recommending you do lol

old wives tale give it a crack with a heavy book...not advisable tho...lol

I've got one, had it for years, hasn't bothered me for years.

My MIL had one, she went to the Dr and he took out a big book, she thought he was going to look something up, but he just whacked her wrist with it that sorted it out.
Probably could not do that now as they would get done for asault lol.

Thanks. I have mine about 5 years but has got bigger last few months and is now pressing on a nerve, aches every day.

Lots of people have offered to give it a whack, but I don't want a fractured wrist!

I had one about 15 years ago and saw the doctor who said the remedy was to whack it with a bible.

I hit it on my desk a dozen times and it went!

Ah, if it's getting bigger and causing other problems then definitely a good idea to get it sorted. Not sure how long it'll take to recover, you'll need to ask the doctor when you see him/her.

LMAO BC... now there's therapy.

Ann, I'm glad you fit to go back to work after 2 days. I've been googling and some people have been off for a week or two and had their wrist in a splint.

Thanks Ann, I work on computers so I imagine that hand will be out of action.

Hope other half will help with peeling pots etc.

Hi Ganglian is a cyst like swelling, depending where about on the wrist depends on the recovery, as a matter of interest if it 's on the back of the wrist it is usually caused by strain, like playing the piano! it is classed as aminor operation usually carried out in the day unit and under local anaesthetic, a few days off work, and all should be ok.

I have Selena,

It developed when I was an active musician in my teens. I had an op when I was 20 on my wrist but it only helped a little.

Thanks all for replying. I'm looking forward to the lump going - we call it my gargoyle. Its good to hear that most of you got rid of yours with no more problems.

I wonder if its connected to using the mouse so much.....how on earth will I stay sane and get my daily hit of Genes after the op!
