Thanks Karen, my lump is rock hard like a bone. I'm sure it would have to be a really big whack for it to go down. |

Definately not going to hit it! I will let you know the outcome though when I have the op. And whether I wished I had hit it, despite all your advice :) then you can say I told you so. |

I had one about 20 years ago. Dr tried dropping a medical book on it, but it didn't work. Decided to go private after that! Consultant was loathe to remove it, as it was right on the crease on my wrist and he was concerned any scar would limit the use of my wrist. Anyway, got sent away for six months and told to go back if it was still causing me problems. He would then remove it. In the interim I saw that psychic who sat Fergie under the green pyramid thing and she did a healing on it. It was gone within a week! AL |

I had one on the back of my hand about 25 years ago. I hit it with a table tennis bat, and it dispersed, never to return. |

Hi Ganglian is a cyst like swelling, depending where about on the wrist depends on the recovery, as a matter of interest if it 's on the back of the wrist it is usually caused by strain, like playing the piano! it is classed as aminor operation usually carried out in the day unit and under local anaesthetic, a few days off work, and all should be ok. |

Ann, I'm glad you fit to go back to work after 2 days. I've been googling and some people have been off for a week or two and had their wrist in a splint. |

Ah, if it's getting bigger and causing other problems then definitely a good idea to get it sorted. Not sure how long it'll take to recover, you'll need to ask the doctor when you see him/her. |
