Carol Hi I did get you a Mars Bar but I just ate it!! Sorry but I don't have the parish records to do look ups I only have a n index to tell you where parish records were deposited. And for Scotland they are in New Register House in Edinburgh. You really need the scotlandspeople site It's woth asking if anyone is going to the records office in Edinburgh who could do a look up for you regarding deaths All I can give you is the 1881 census transcription for Alexander Stewart and family from my discs. Also if you haven't got any further by 18th May let me know as I am going up to stay with my Aunt in Dundee and will be visiting New Register House so would be happy to try a look up for you. Thank you Michelle, Just read your response on your other thread so went looking for this one. Thanks again. Would you happen to have the inscription of THOMAS 'THE DOUGHTY' DICKSON This is my claim to fame. He is in a novel by Sir Walter Scott and was buried in Douglas. There was some kind of carving on the headstone but it is long gone. It would help me trace my way back to him if I could find more details of his death. Thanks again. I have lots to plough through now should keep me quiet for a while best wishes GLoria
