I have Joseph Dearlove(place and date of birth unknown)Married Elizabeth Slayter(1831 Sherrington ,Bucks) in 1853 in St Pancras.His father was Daniel Dearlove,.can anybody find Daniel and Joseph together in any census? Sue x

If it helps anyone Joseph was living in Draper Place And Elizabeth was living at Ferdinand Street i presume these addresses are in St pancras. witnesses to the marraige were Mary Dearlove and G Slater. Sue x

By 1861 Elizabeth was a Widow. I thought i had found Josephs death in 1859 so ordered the cert. But i dont think it is him. The death was in Mile end old town.Joseph Dearlove (on the death cert)was a journey man aged 50.The informant was a Alfred Francis Dearlove.

Sue, presumably you have the marriage certificate, so what does it say for Joseph's marital status - bachelor or widower? Kate.

On the marraige cert it says Batchelor. Sue x

I am presuming that the Mary Dearlove(the witness) is his sister

So, the Joseph on the censuses must be the one on the death cert, but it looks as if he isn't the one on the marriage certificate, unless either he was lying about being a bachelor, or he wasn't legally married to Harriet? I don't suppose the Joseph on the censuses had a brother called Daniel with a son called Joseph?? Could be? Kate.

Had a look on the IGI, and it doesn't look as if the Joseph on the censuses had a brother called Daniel. Hi Kate, That would be just typical,LOL just to confuse everyone. The whole family is confusing me.. Trying to find a Joseph,with poss a sister called Mary whos father was called Daniel. What a nightmare...

This could be Daniel's death, from FreeBMD, in which case he will not be on any census: Deaths Mar 1839 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEARLOVE Daniel Wallingford 6 167 Kate.

So it looks like the death cert i have is for the Joseph that married Harriet...proberly nothing to do with my Dearloves.

Daniel was still alive in 1853..as he is not down as deceased on the marraige cert.

Sue, you can't be sure that he was still alive just because it doesn't say 'deceased' on the marriage cert. I have a few where the father was deceased but it doesn't say so. Kate.

Sorry Sue - but just because it doesn´t say deceased on marriage certificate doesn´t mean that he wasn´t !!
