I had wondered if he might have been a son of one of Margaret's sisters - but it doesn't seem so.

Margaret Ienyons
in the 1851 England Census
Name Margaret Ienyons [Jenyons]
Age 8
Estimated Birth Year abt 1843
Relation Daughter
Father's Name William Ienyons
Mother's Name Ann Ienyons
Gender Female
Where born Childwall, Lancashire, England
Civil parish Wavertree
County/Island Lancashire
Country England
Registration District West Derby
Sub-registration district West Derby
ED, institution, or vessel 2b
Neighbors
Household schedule number 94
Piece 2192
Folio 1056
Page number 24
Household Members (Name) Age Relationship
William Ienyons 43 Head - Tailor
Ann Ienyons 40 Wife
James Ienyons 9 Son
Margaret Ienyons 8 Daughter
Ann Jane Ienyons 7 Daughter
Mary Ienyons 4 Daughter
Alice Ienyons 2 Daughter

Alice married Thomas Ashcroft in 1874, and had children.
Mary married James Rotherham in 1896, and had no children.
Ann Jane married John Blackmore in 1871 and had several children.

I suppose Henry could be an illegitimate child of brother James - but if so, there's no way of knowing the mother's surname.

Depending on what age he was when he was adopted, I wondered if he WAS actually a Henry born in Beaumaris in 1890.?.....(Bangor Registration District)
There can't be too many to follow through and search in subsequent census.

His DoB as per 1939 may be not be accurate..........he is accorded an age of 12 in 1901, which may, in itself, be only a guess.

For what it may be worth - this is the only illegitimate birth of a child named Henry, born 1889-92 in Bangor RD , which includes Beaumaris - but also many other places.

(though of course any or all of that info may be inaccurate, and therefore this birth totally irrelevant) -

WILLIAMS, HENRY -
GRO Reference: 1892 D Quarter in BANGOR Volume 11B Page 422 Occasional Copy: A

And in any case, there's no way of knowing if he became Henry Pennington.

And there were no Williamses in Beaumaris in 1891, (apart from Jane , Peter, and John Williams, on board the ship "Temple", who are all still together, plus more children, in 1911)
- so you can probably ignore this post!
