The death certificate is vital to establish her marital status when she died.

I'm not seeing a suitable Matilda Bellamy on US census.

Just to say l have sent off for a death cert today 30th May for Matilda Bellamy. Expecting it about 26th June, hopefully it will tell us something.

l have taken on board that perhaps Bellamy wasn't her birth name. l even wonder if perhaps she escaped being registered in about 1849?

l will update at the end of June,

Sheila

Update on Matilda (Bellamy) born 1849-1929

l received Matilda's death cert. yesterday. She was the widow of a John Bellamy - a general labourer. The cert. verified she lived with my grandpa and my mum at 4 St.Ervans Rd.,We know from editoral rolls that she had lived with my grandpa and my mum from about 1916 till 1929. The lady was my mums 'Aunt Tilly'. Matilda actually died seventeenth April 1929 at 28 Marloes Road. Was she visiting - was she working? the occupier of the house Thos. Bates informed the death 18th April. It is still a mystery. If l could find Matilda's maiden name l could get her marriage cert. The going to America bit and coming back is also a mystery. l think it's true but the date of her coming back? l think it was earlier perhaps 1905 -1910? l know the ship was the Queen Mary.
