Sylvia was Born 13/1/1930 and married a David L Thomas in Jan Feb or mar 1950 District Haverfordwest Record Vol 8c
page 803
David L Thomas was born around the year 1918 according to marriage certificate he was 32 when they married and she was 19

At some time in 1951 she came to Hebburn Tyne & wear, DURHAM, County Durham, England and had a relationship/affair with Thomas Walsh which produced a son Bernard in Feb 1952 who was registered by Her under the name Thomas and also by him under the name Walsh so he has 2 birth certificates
Then when Bernard was around 8 wks old she left after leaving him with his paternal Aunt and Uncle
We would love to find out if she had any more children and why she left him after taking the time to register him herself any help would be gratefully received.

You're talking about living people here. I don't think it should be posted on an open forum like this.

The 1952 birth registration will only produce 1 birth certificate in which ever surname the person used........

The birth shows up twice because Thomas was the legal surname at the time and Walsh because the biological father agreed on registration.

Its not that important to complain about and its on another board which the poster a newer member may think the site is seperated into sub board sites that only few will look at.

Well that's the whole point I don't know whether David or Sylvia are still living and Bernard is my Husband Thomas my father in law and they know what I am doing so as long as I have their backing I don't see the problem as for you writing the reply you have if you know that any of the other 2 are still alive then you know more than me, and that is my question what happened to her and if she had more children as our family is getting bigger with grandchildren etc and they are all moving to different parts of the country, and like most families mine is not cut and dry , and I don't want to be the one who has to tell one of my family sorry but that's really your uncle/cousin so I am doing my best to find out as much as I can before anything like that happens. I am truly sorry if this had offended you in anyway but I am doing this for my Grandchildren's sake not mine.Surly you can understand that.

I am sorry Flick but I thought this was a different search to the other one but thank you for pointing out my mistake I will remember in the future.

Hi Kay
So if I understand your posting then by rights my Husbands name should be Thomas and not Walsh.

Hi Rose,,not cut and dry as that, but in essence the real dad must have been present or signed to have the baby registered in his surname,,,but because legally the mums surname was Thomas and they wasnt married its entered in the index in both surnames......then legally the child can use either surname but only 1 birth certificate will be issued,,,,,,I suspect that in the name of Walsh......
good luck....divorce didnt come so quick & easy in 1950s unless you had money and good grounds so a 3 year seperation before applying for a divorce, then it could take up to 5 years to complete ,or granted after 7 years for desertion.

Looks like Sylvia had several brothers and sisters. Have you looked on FreeBMD? Perhaps you can track them down.

J stands for Jean and have now found out that she died in 2001 but would still like to find out if she had any other children. I have tried contacting the other people which seem to have her in their trees but unfortunatly it seems they do not open their mail I really don't see the point of joining the site if you are not going to bother to do that.Thank you for your help anyway
COPBNMN your user name was a bit confusing but I got it in the end Thanks again Rose

What surname was she using when she died?

As for people not opening PM's, you must take into account that not everyone who has a tree on GR is actually a current user, although his/her tree will still be on here if he/she doesn't delete it

GR do try to notify people that a PM has been logged, but if the person's current e-mail has not been registered with the site, they will be unable to make contact.

However, there are any number of reasons why people don't read PM's............how long is it since you sent them? Not more than a few days, I would imagine...............
