Alice Turton born 1889 Rawmarsh Rotherham South Yorkshire.she was married to Alfred Ford,he was born South Yorkshire 1884 and died in 1918.i looked on the commonwealth war site and there is an Alfred Ford who was a gunner number 200759 Royal Field Artillery,it says the son of Alfred and Amy,i dont have his parents,can this be my Alfred Ford? please help thanks Janette

This appears to be the only Alfred Ford that has correct parents. Date of birth suggests his not yours

Where exactly was Alfred born?

I've had a look for a marriage for Alfred Ford and Alice Turton, but can't see anything. When were they married?

If you buy their marriage cert. then this should give you Alfred's father's name and occupation, which will help find him in the census records. It will also give you the address he was living at, at the time of the marriage and witnesses names who may be siblings.

But Catherine, how can Janette buy the marriage certificate when we can't find any record of it?

Do you know if they had any children and if yes, what were their names and when and where were they born?

Why didn't you say that the daughter was born in Canada? This looks like them on the 1911 census in Canada:

You couldn't find their marriage because they were evidently married in Canada. She emigrated as Alice Turton in 1910. Reason for emigrating was "going to be married"

Well, looks like we solved that one. We do have a little discrepancy though. On the 1891 census brother Thomas is only 2 years older than Alfred but on the 1911 census in Canada Thomas is 6 years older.
How much do you want to bet that he lied about his age so that he wouldn't appear to be younger than his wife?
