So if they are cousins whose children are they. Someone must have had two sons who married their respective spouses and named all their children the same. Doesn't make sense.

Stick with it. Something will fall into place. I'll have another look this evening my time.

if we summarise a bit here with a possible scenario (various spelling of surname)

John Letherd b 1808 marries Mary
from 1841 census
has children Mary (baptism below) 1828
James 1831
John 1833

father John transported 1834 leaving Mary on her own with children as per 1841

1853 John (son of original John & Mary) marries Ann Pickering

you would need the marriage certificate of this one to prove fathers as marriages online for Blackpool do not go as far as 1853.

Mary Lethhead - Daughter of John Lethhead & Mary
Born: 24 Sep 1826
Abode: Read
Occupation: Weaver
Baptised by: Wm. Wood
