So if they are cousins whose children are they. Someone must have had two sons who married their respective spouses and named all their children the same. Doesn't make sense. |

If your great grandfather was born in 1859 and his father was John, and John married Ann in 1853 I'd say there is a pretty good chance it all fits. |

Whoo hoo. There is your James Letherd. 1861 census aged 2 years. Which means he was born in 1859. Father John mother Ann. Does that fit. |

1861 census. Here is John Jnr with his name spelled more correctly. he has married Ann and has a family. The other people are boarders living at his address. All adults are associated with the cotton industry. |

You do realize that this could be a completely different family. It just comes up all the time. They are there in the 1851census as well. Thought perhaps Mary might have been John's sister. (I did think mother but that is really stupid). |

This is too close to be a coincidence. Note the Whalley district. But why "Mary" and who is the other Mary. When was Jennet born. |

Next step. Look at census data 1841 and 1851 to see if we can find James Lettherd aged 9 and John Lettherd age 8, and then aged 19 and 18. |
