Ellen in 1891 in Birmingham, Smethwick

Name: Ellen Day
Age: 24
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1867
Relation: Lodger
Where born: Birmingham

Occupation: Tailoress

So if her birth surname was Ellen Day, the info on the Frederick Day death record wouldn't match -- unless he made up a father, as was not unusual.

I know I had absolutely no luck either with any of them, and I tried and tried.

There are definitely mistranscriptions in the 1911, and that is one possibiity.

I might start by getting whatever certificates seem likely or even possible, and trying to sort out the 1901 household members and their relationships, and what names they might have been likely to be going by.

it is so frustrating when you enter details that you no are 100% true and then it comes back not known? makes me wonder how much off the past is right?? lol xx
