Abraham Basalinksy.
I have been told that Alfie's sister married my husbands grandfathers brother but I cannot find a birth reference for either him or his sister. The nearest I could find was Abraham B Grabeshesky. Bethnal Green 1c 277 Jun Q 1921 mothers maiden name Birnbaum. Would someone mind taking a look please. As I am not convinced one way or the other. His Sister was known to my husbands grandfather as Aunt Sally.

Thanks catherine I think he was born a Basalinksy though and then changed it to Bass.

If you go to the internet movie database (imdb.com) and type in Alfie Bass it will tell you a bit about him.

His parents were Russian they fled the USSR to avoid persecution.

I've looked up many English immigrants in the Canadian census for posts on GR boards, and sometimes I've been told their UK dob, and it's been different from their dob on the census, but I've noticed they never change their anniversary, just their year of birth. Thus I find it significant that 8 April would be a second quarter registration in whatever year.
