I have been looking for records of my grandfather, who doesnt seem to have his birth registered. When I was a child, he told me his mother had changed his birth certificate to prevent him going to war, how true this is I dont know, but I can only find his marriage and death certificate. I know he was born in muswell hill approx 1902 on November 30th. His siblings are William, Lilian, Winifred,Ernest and Doris and his name is STANLEY JAMES ATTKINS. His parents are William Henry Attkins and Annie Hume. Can anyone give me any help or advice how to continue my search? |

She might have changed his birth cert but she couldn't have changed the original entry in the register. |

Have you found the family on both of the census for 1891 & 1901? |

His birth might not have been registered, my mother, born 1906, didn't have her birth registered or it might have been omitted from the register. |

I wish I asked more questions when I was younger. He is the only reason I started doing my family tree and he is the only person I've had no luck with ! |

I wonder if this is a poss - right year and place and month. Perhaps they named him John and then changed his name for the war evasion? |
