If he was born in 1902, would his cert have needed changing to avoid the war? He wouldn't have been 18 until 1920, so wouldn't have been conscripted.

If his cert was changed, I would think it was changed TO 1902 from an earlier date.

He died in 1980

I wonder if this is a poss - right year and place and month. Perhaps they named him John and then changed his name for the war evasion?

family are on 1891, census but disappear on 1901 census

His birth might not have been registered, my mother, born 1906, didn't have her birth registered or it might have been omitted from the register.

Have you found the family on both of the census for 1891 & 1901?

oldest was William 1887 but they were all born in new southgate/muswell hill, cant understand why he wouldnt be registered
