help looking for my wife's birth farther Arthur john Thomas of neath born around 1922
his wife was passing away in hospital in Neath wales (cancer) on Nov 1961 at the same time my wife's brother was being born in the same hospital.
we also believe shes got step sisters her birth farther remarried and went to have some more children.
we have been told he liked to sing by my wife's birth mother who we have found about 20 years ago.(she is now 85)
my wife also got a sister two years older than her called Dawn (born nov.1956 same farther Arthur john Thomas of Neath area.

You say, " my brother was being born in the same hospital"

Do you mean your wife?

If you look at "Search all members trees", and search for Arthur Thomas, born Port Talbot (don't put in a year), you'll see that someone called Janis has an Arthur Thomas in her tree.
She says he was born "22".
This might (or might not) mean 1922.

It might be worth contacting her.

What a very confusing message.

I guess we should contact new user Stephen and ask him to come back and clarify/correct the information. I will do that.


First, 'my half sisters' are the half sisters of Stephen's wife Lynette, not of Stephen who wrote the message, it seems.

I think the information about 'my brother' -- Stephen's brother? Lynnette's brother? -- being born at the same time Arthur's wife died is just coincidental and doesn't help with the search for Arthur?

I don't see a likely marriage of a Hilda to an Arthur Thomas to match.

Stephen when you say your wife's "birth father" ... her parents were not married, and was she born after Arthur's wife's death? ... only if she was very young when you married, I guess. So she was born during his marriage?

Are the stepsisters the children of Arthur and his wife who died in 1961, or of Arthur and a different mother(s)?

Too many pieces of the puzzle missing here. Knowing Arthur's wife's name would be a good first step, particularly if the stepsisters were the children of Arthur and his wife. Perhaps you don't know her name, Stephen?

It really is best to say all the info you know, and don't know, when asking a question. :-)

If Hilda was born c1926 (per that death record in 1961 in Neath)

a marriage in 1939 is highly unlikely.

Births for Christine and Susan Williams with MMN Hawkins are not listed in Neath but in Hertfordshire and Warwickshire. Is this correct?

Arthur john Thomas he lived in Neath as far as we know.
he never married beryl my wife's birth mom
and went on to have more children with his new wife some time after 1961
the year my wife's brother was born in the same hospital same time as his first wife's death.
new at this game sorry.

you did say arthurs wife died in 1961 in November so cant be the death of joan in 1962

If Arthur's wife was Joan, and if she definitely died in Neath, then that death posted by Rose is the nearest one to your wife's brother's birth date.
(In fact, the only one in Neath 1961-2)

That could mean a death any time in April, May, or June of 1962.

could Arthur married a johnstone in 1962 neath

we have that one printed out (joan) but not sure were to look next we would have to find some or arthurs children from his second marriage I guess some how.
