We did'nt go out in the end. We decided we would go in the morning but just now I remembered I have that other blood test tomorrow at 10.50am. I am so cross.
I went down to the ark to clear out some mess someone had done in the bedroom bit and put my hand in the nest and a hog was in there!! not in the blue box last night then.......must have thought it's old nest was warmer and not so noisy with the rain coming down on the plastic box. Have the camera out again tonight and moved it round a bit to see if I can get it comeing out the bedroom bit and back in again. There was nothing on the camera to tell me one had gone in there but there was two blankish vids so by the time the camera had come on I suppose it had gone in the nest.
Frank mine like the whiskers chicken biscuits. I only feed the spike if I am fattening one up or keeping it over the winter but have used it when I have run out of the other stuff and it is always eaten.
I hav'nt done much again today and I feel really tired. I have had a couple of sneezing fits and also had one just before I went to bed last night. Hope I am not coming down with my first cold of the winter.
Ann I hope you and Gordon are both feeling better today. When you make that honey and lemon drink you could have two paracetamol caplets with it and they help take the sore throat away.

Evening All,
Well what an awful niight I had with a throat I could hardly swallow with, aching bones, burning cheeks and no voice at all by this morning. :-S I emailed the chap at the study last night to say I couldn't come, but he rang this morning and OH had to answer with me only able to whisper! OH went to the chemist this morning and she advised paracetomol and glycerine, lemon and honey too Mel. I've been in bed all day as I felt so grim which isn't like me, but the paracetomol has helped and I actually feel a bit better now. Luckily, OH seems to be ok at the moment. Jane, I dread coughs too as I've had some nasty ones before. I thought you would like the film.......we got fidgety towards the end too with bits going numb!!
What windy and wet weather today....it is pouring again here just now!
Mandy, I can imagine little Lacey with her chatter!! lol. :-) I bet you have a job to keep your face straight at times.
I hope all goes well with your appointments tomorrow Frank.
Back to bed for me now.........

Morning all, evening Kim.
Much better morning today. DRY but very overcast.
I got up this morning to find no heating had come on. I was getting myself all worked up and rang the Plumber.. I didn't want to speak to him, so left a very curt message. Within 5 minutes he was on the phone. He recons he never received any messages about the boiler. I said" WHY BOTHER HAVING AND ANSWER PHONE THEN" He didn't have an answer for that. I also asked him to quote for fitting the towel rail, remembering I am supplying everything apart from the pipe and labour His first quote was £160.00 when I said I think that's a bit much he came down to £140.00. I am now getting another quote.
Poor old Ann, being laid up like this. It's so not you. <3 <3 <3 Hurry up and get better.
I must remember when I go for my injection I also have to have my Blood pressure taken, I haven't had it done for over a year. so the doctor says !!!
My hedgehog cleared his "SPIKE" last night. He must be getting as fat as a pig. I hope he can get into his box :-D :-D :-D
Off to have some breakfast , and Shower and shave.
See you later.

Morning all and evening Kim,
Brighter morning here today but the sky is grey at the mo. We had a bit of sun earlier on.
O Ann I do hope you are over the worst of it by now. It is so horrid when you are down and have to stay in bed and keep thinking of all the things you could be doing. Well thats what happens to me I think I could have been doing this or that. I know when I had that sore throat last year the paracetamol lemon and honey was the only thing that helped it at all and I took it three times a day or morning and night as it seemed to ease off a bit during the day. I wish you better soon. <3 <3 <3
Blood test for me this morning and the bruise from the last one a month ago has only just gone!!
Frank what is it with these builder etc. Mine has left me for a month to do my roof over the porch to lay pavers!! I have to have the whole porch off so why did'nt he come when we had all that nice dry weather. I really don't understand it. You would think after waiting a year or so for him to come and see to it he would have come earlier in the year when the weather was hot. \He said he did'nt know it was that bad. Well it was'nt when I first asked him.

So typical Mel. I had a neighbour bring me a plumbers number this morning, and he mentioned another chap also. So will get them both to quote.
Went to see the nurse, she took my B P. 136/66. She noticed I hadn't had my bloods done since last November, so she did those. Then my testosterone injection, THEN she asked if I had had my FLU injection. I said to her "YOU ARE NEEDLE MAD THIS MORNING" we had a good laugh and I will go back 5th November for my next injection. I told her she did the flu one last month !!!
It was trying to drizzle when I went out, but now it's very mild.
The plumber is COMING anytime now to sort out the boiler. I either get hot water or heat in the radiators. Only on occasions do I get both, which is not right.
Where is everyone this morning ???
Will you be able to go shopping after your BP this morning Mel. ??

No Frank no shopping today as it was too late to go to Barnstaple by the time I got back from the docs.
Have made a big pan of soup. The washing machine has just stopped and the sun has now gone in.
It did try to rain a few spits and spots when I went up the road to the docs but nothing more and when I got back oh was mowwing the lawns.
Booked our flu jabs for Monday at 9.30am. We go in together.
Right get the washing on the line but I don't know whether it will dry much but lets hope...................
The camera only took pictures last night and no videos at all which is a shame because I had the two hogs there together again. Oh has it all apart at the moment seeing if it needed drying out. He said it was taking the pictures upside down??? they came out the right way up when I looked at them this morning.

Afternoon all,
Bright and sunny now after a dull start ,got the washing out but i must keep an eye out as one or two clouds are looking very black !!
Hope the cold keeps improving Ann , i hate laying in bed but some times with a nasty cold like yours it's the only place to be , just get lots of rest and keep taking the tablets and i hope you feel better soon.
Frank ,that seems a lot just to fit a heated towel rail , i would get another estimate , you need to find one who's not VAT registered that would bring the price down a bit.
I need to go shopping but i have to wait in for the accountant to drop some papers in that need signing , i hate waiting about like this ,i don't feel as if i can get on with any thing .
Had my hair cut this morning the hairdresser said she thought it had got really long this time but it's only been the six weeks the same as usual , must have been all the nice sunny weather made it grow quicker !! :-D

Afternoon All.
Lovely & sunny here, sun has a little heat, OH day off so we decided to go down the Clyde Valley for lunch, but when we headed for our usual lunch venue, there was no way to get to it, all the surrounding roads are shut off it seems that they are renewing all the road surfaces surrounding that part of the valley, we tired several ways, OH cycles a lot in that area so knows the different routes to take, :-( :-( we ended up just coming home as it was getting way past lunch time, and put a couple of Pizza's in the oven. never mind it was a nice run around the country roads.

Afternoon All,
Well I felt a bit better so got up at lunchtime and it was so nice to have a shower ......but I feel done in now. My throat's less sore, the cough is a bit chesty and tickly now, but at least I feel better than I expected to today. :-) It's funny how a bed gets less comfortable the longer you are in it and you are right about thinking of all the things you had planned to do Mel, but just know you can't for a while!! I'm doing a bit of paperwork now and might finish some beading if I don't run out of steam. OH had his flu jab this morning and is now buried in typing his notes up.
Frank, the nurse must have thought you looked like a pincushion!! :-) I hope the plumber doesn't let you down and fixes your boiler. Mandy's right about saving the VAT by using a small trader if you can. ;-)
These little hedgehogs certainly enjoy their grub by the sound of it and appreciate the boxes put out for them. I haven't seen any calling cards here for a couple of years now so I don't think there are any around here anymore which is a shame. I wish I had a camera like Mel's though as I would love to see what does come in the garden at night!! :-0
Mandy, I find my hair seems to grow more at times as the hairdresser says it is 'heavy' so I am sure you are right. I wish we could get a few dry days as I have a good 3 loads of washing. :-S
Fiona, there must be some lovely scenery near you, so the ride round alone would be worth it, even if you didn't get any lunch!

You must be feeling a bit better Ann to get on here and have a little natter.
Well the postman has been again today and still no part arriving for the Dys*n. It is nearly another week now so that will be 8 or 9 weeks without a hoover. I think it is a really bad service from such a well known firm.
I don't feel like hanging on again for about 24 minuets to get a reply from them just to be told that they were out of stock of that part after telling me last week that it was sent out the day before. Is there anything slower than snail mail????????? there must be as my part is in it............ :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Back from the Dentist at 4.00 pm. It was just a fitting. The teeth are on a bright pink wax, and I had to bite them together, and speak the days of the week. One fell of the bottom plate,!!! but she said that's no problem. she can refit it.
Next visit I will have my new teeth to bring home with me, if they need adjustment, I will need to take them back.
I must say She has matched the colour perfectly with my own teeth, and they look GREAT.
Ros went to the dentist this morning also, a filling in one of her back teeth had fallen out, and the tooth was cutting into her cheek. The dentist filed it all down and she has to go back to get a crown fitted. Another £200.00.
When we got in this afternoon the phone was ringing. We missed the call, it was the plumber. I rang him straight back but it went to Answer phone. BUT he did ring back. Would you Adam and Eve it. Both the hot water and Central heating are working at present. I can't remember when the radiators were so hot !! and it's only set on 20 degrees. I am stripped to the waist, and still BOILING HOT.
We had an email from Carolyn and John, to say there were in Tenerife. We didn't even know they had gone :-D :-D :-D
I've made a Lasagne for tonight, so not a lot of washing up. I will leave Ros to do the salad, and garlic bread.
Where's our Jane today ??? NOT ANOTHER DAY OUT <3 <3 <3

Well Frank, fancy the boiler working ok again. You don't know whether you are coming or going with it do you! The new teeth sound good........we'll have to call you 'gnasher' won't we!! :-D
Let me know whether you enjoy the film Jane. We hope to see it soon and I liked the trailer. The reviews I've read aren't great, but it depends on your own taste in these things sometimes. Is your internet any faster these days? It's such a nuisance when it goes down like that, just when there is something you are desperate to do on it usually. :-S
After seeing those other progs about cats the other week I'm recording the new Catwatch prog tonight.

Frank your boiler is certainly tempremental at the mo and I hope the plumber can sort it for you soon.
Must have a look at the dinner and maybe add the sauce.
Did'nt watch Grantchester last night but taped it so I can see that tonight if there's nothing else on I want to watch.

Well the pooter seems fine now :-D Frank you will have to let us see your new gleaming gnashers when you get them :-D Your boiler seems to have a life of it's own .Hope you can get is sorted soon with little expense.
Fiona what a shame about all the road works today and no lunch out either :-S You were lucky to have some sun. There hasn't been any here at all today.
I have felt a bit 'off 'the last 2 days.I sneezed so much yesterday ,but nothing has come of it . I tried watching Grantchester again but I just don't seem to be able to take to it .it seems a bit dull.I do like Peaky ??? (can't think of the title). But the only thing with that programme is all the ridiculous music they keep playing I think it is too much.
I am doing Lamb Steaks now with my Hassleback Potatoes and a pan of mixed veg. But I don't feel that hungry :-S.Maybe when I can start to smell the Lamb that will whet my appetite .
James has just told me not to answer the phone in the morning about 8 o clock as it will be for him.He is taking part in a phone conference from Sweden !!.I don't quite understand how that works. But he says it will be for about 30 minutes and then he will go to work. I suppose I better get these Lamb Steaks on the go .

Hi everybody, does this make me a 'regular' now? LOL :-) I posted photos I took of the beautiful (spectacular actually) sunset on Sunday evening on Facebook, I know Ann also took a photo of it and Jane has seen mine on FB - and of course since then it's done nothing but rain! It's days like these that we're so grateful that the pub round the corner changed into a Sainsb*ry's local, so this morning when the milk was nearly out, I only had to pop my togs on and was in and out in 5 minutes.
A few days ago I was telling you how we had a 'home' visit from our pharmacist, he actually wanted details of our Carers group for one of his customers, an elderly lady whose husband has died and now seems very lonely. I told him to send her along to our monthly meetings, most of our members are ex-carers now anyway. We are a friendly bunch, there's no hierarchy and half the members can talk for England anyway :-) so she'll be made most welcome.. Nice to know he was looking out for his customers in that way.
So talking about visitors, last night Carmel was just settling down to watch her soaps, I'd gone up to my computer in my den (just like Frank) when the door bell rang. It was the priest from the church we go to calling on a social visit. Not to go into religion, but Carmel is RC and I'm C of E, but Carmel likes to go to Mass on a Sunday and I'm quite happy to enjoy the service anyway. So back to Father Des, as he's known - he is such a wonderful humourous and friendly man, and in the short time he was with us, he'd extracted a potted life history from me. What I like about going on a Sunday is there is such a special emphasis on the children, we sit at the front and I just love watching them, it puts a smile on my face. Needless to say, I'd put Carmel's soaps on the recorder so she didn't miss out in anyway. Actually, I think he went the extra mile being out in a filthy night like last night.
Frank, I hope you soon get your boiler sorted, not the time of year to have those sort of problems. ours had its annual service a week or so ago and all is well with it. I've got the same guy coming back this Friday to fit a new swan neck tap to our kitchen sink as there is a leak where it swivels. It was an enamel finish anyway which has chipped over the years we've had it and he will be fitting a chrome one which will be a lot better.

Well I spoke to soon again. We were sitting here "BAKING" then I went to wash up dinner things, and there was no hot water. Suddenly there was no HEATING.
The lounge is still quite warm, but the conservatory is COLD. I am watching football with a big fleece round me. :-0 :-0 :-0. We have the halogen heater if we need it.
I rang the plumber and he said he will get to me sometime tomorrow. He thinks he has an Idea what it could be. I hope it's a part that he fitted before, and should still be under guarantee.
I can't get into Grantchester , so I watched something in the conservatory
Football just starting again. So goodnight all, sleep tight.
