Hi Sharron, what she's been doing was sending the parcel to the office of the mission, about 30 miles from here, and one of their directors goes over 2 or 3 times a year and takes all letters and parcels with him. The last parcel had a lot of hair products, clips and ribbons and Megan had enclosed a note suggesting the child share the accessories with her friends. We will never know where the items are now I suppose. I am mostly upset about the effect this has had on Megan, presumably the mission benefitted in some small way by the monthly donations. I just feel very let down, betrayed even.
It is still very cold here, I dread going out, but had to pick up Sarah from Guides tonight, when she had a seizure during their meeting, poor kid, so pale afterwards and wanting to sleep.
Long day tomorrow, Gareth has an appt an hour away with a neurologist, and has to arrive at 830am so it will be an early start for everyone.

Mary, is it worth taking up with the mission office. Presumably they want contributions to continue which theyw on't if it gets a bad 'press'.

Poor Sarah, so frustrating for her when she is doing something she enjoys. Is that the problem? Does she have a sizure when she is excited?

Sharron, it really is like having a naughtly child in your house isn't it? Hopefully he will have learnt his lesson although I doubt it! I suppose his hands are more shaky than he realised.

He only has one working hand Ann and that is his left.He was always right handed and he was always an awkward old sod so nothing much changes there.

No doubt the hair decorations have brighened the day of some African child,just not the one you thought.
It is difficult to know what to send to Africa,or even how to send it but it sounds like the mission has let you down a bit doesn't it?Are you going to ask them about it?
Better go and see what he is up to.His friend is here today so God knows what might be going on.

I do not know what prompted you on that very day to put forward the suggestion that maybe a type of 'AA' get together would be a good idea, for persons to emerge from their silence and be heard, not seen so not put up to ridicule and to open their hearts and hopefully find consolation from others in doing so......Three years and eight thousand, five hundred and ninety one postings later I know that what was just a thought on your part had turned into a worldwide family gathering, one which so many of us turn to each day for help, consolation, cheer and laughter.....
Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all the friends I have made over the years, some of whom have sadly passed on but who's places are being continually filled by other persons as time passes......
As well you know I tend to jump in and post on the occasion of us reaching a 'thousand' event posting but felt that today was too special day to miss.......

Thank you Joyce, as one of the world-wide family I also stay thank you. Although we have never met, Carole and I are friends.
Bernadette, I don't know citalopram myself, but many of these A-D drugs take a while to get started.
My own drug of choice is one that I have been taking on and off for 25+ years. On at the moment. It really does help me sleep, and I do feel better for it.
These drugs are not sedatives. Most people don't think they zonk them out unless they have to take them during the day as well as at night. They help with a chemical imbalance and make the unbearable become bearable.

Thank you Carole for your original thought, thank you to all those who have shared on this thread, thank you for listening, for sharing, for caring and for kicking me in the backside when I've needed it. I truly appreciate all of you, have developed some friendships thanks to this thread, people who allow one to rant and embrace us just the same; as Joyce says, this has become a world-wide family gathering, and I feel privileged to be part of it, My Citalopram is my stabiliser, you my friends, give me balance, and accept me as I am, for which I am profoundly grateful.

WOW we made three years!! It's been a learning curve for me to have had the privilage of sharing problems and happier times with you all. I have learnt a lot of how to treat people and learnt about myself. I'm still learning, and could do better ; (
My anxiety is lower, on the depression side my 40ml a day citalopram keeps me coping with stuff I couldn't have coped with without it, like my fathers illness and death in October. I am even managing the mass of paperwork that followed. But I haven't been able to keep up with some of my friends and I'm sorry.

Well!!! Congratulations to us. 3 years that is some thread.

thank you for starting it Carole. I don't suffer and have never suffered with depression and for that I am grateful, but in those three years I have had some anxious moments when I have been attending hospital for various minor ops. andYour support has been invaluable. I have also learned a great deal about various conditions that people or their families suffer from. you are a great bunch of people and I hope the thread goes on for another year (and more).

Thanks Kathy for the explanation. I live about 30 km from the coast now, but my home from age 10 to 38 was in the northern beaches. Being on the low side of the street I had to cross the road to see the sea, if you know what I mean.
Too make you jealous, it was the South Pacific Ocean, although there were no coral atolls, palm trees or the like. There is a great series on our TV at the moment about the South Pacific Ocean.

Your lovely warm sea where people can actually swim in holds no delights for me .No I was born a Scot and we Scots swim in the North Sea ( even if it kills us !!! )

Remenber as a kid my mother going crazy that there were pack of sharks about to get us kids in the water .They turned out to be porpoises .No shark with a brain would swim in the north sea .

Warm weather sounds great just now having had my heating on since november !!!

Kathy, don't panic, I am here and ok, but you won't want me calling right now, will you lol? 4.30am and he is due to get up in half an hour.

Been sleeping a lot and watching lots of recorded progs before the idiot deletes stuff I haven't seen yet! Trouble is the room gets so hot I fall asleep on the sofa and have to watch the end of the progs again lol If I turn the gasfire off the room gets cold very quickly and you know there is no central heating here so I can't win. Before people panic, there is a carbon monoxide alarm and it isn't responding so the fire is safe, just a stuffy room when the fire is on but we need it on to keep the rest of the house aired. If it is off I can tell from upstairs cos it feels so damp and chilly. Not good for my fm and arthritis.

Liz for goodness sake, run out the door, get on a train, get off in Lincs, jump in one of Carole's suitcases and take a trip to somewhere warm. Or hop on a dragon and fly over the pond to visit me!! yes it's cold outside but the house is warm and I have a supply of tea. I also have a comfy sofa on which I regularly fall asleep LOL, and thanks to my kids, a laptop computer so I have no reason to leave that corner of comfort.

Mary, if only eh? Just can't find my magic carpet anywhere lol!

The computer is here in the kitchen diner and I can see outside that the sun is shining, lots of birds picking up the crumbs, nuts, and burnt toast I put out. Even the toaster is temperamental here lol - does first slices perfectly and burns the second lot! I should be in bed but stayed up after the dolt went to work as he wanted the airing cupbd cleared to try and fix a problem with the cold water tank, when he gets home at midday. Water has been leaking from an overflow pipe on the end wall for weeks now, he thought it was the toilet cistern but I pointed out that it wasn't in the right place so he has realised it's the cold storage tank above the tank with the immersion heater. Such an antiquated system for hot water here, his ex is as thick as he is, would you believe a youngish couple would buy a house in the mid eighties with no central heating when they had two small children? There must have been other houses that were better suited for raising toddlers at a similar price, this little seventies built box is pathetic..
I had better get to bed now as he won't be doing the job quietly so will be disturbed by him, that's for sure.

We've sunk down a page so I shall just send us to the top. Hope all are feeling OK and that those down under are not too hot and those in Canada are not too cold. A cold but sunny day here today. at least you feel better when it is bright. well I do.

I am going to change the mood !!! I do research for my local family history society which I am happy to do free of charge but recently I have had so many people not only not thankful but quite rude .I spend hours for them and don't charge the society rates .

That's it got off steam . Feeling better now . ( Brought on by going through 2 years electoral rolls for a large city to be told that can't be them without starting or finishing the email by thank you )

Kathy - you have every right to be upset, a word of appreciation is simply common courtesy. Just remember that those people are saying MUCH more aboiut themselves than they are about you!!
