ps i believe sign language should be taught in schools my kids are in a mainstream school but there are probably 15 or so children in the school that have hearing problems two are which are in my daughters class not only is there the normal class teacher but also a teacher who signs my daughter is only 4 but the sign language she has picked up is amazing

Clare.... I am not doing level 3 as just signed up for a degree in Pyschology..... end result hopefully will be that I can work with deaf children!

And for the record my parents never taught me sign, only the alphabet as they were of the era that speech was the only way forward!!

i think sign language should be taught in school form an early age

my daughters r starting to learn french at 5 and 6
they probly wil never ever go to france but they are probably going to meet many deaf people in there lives

i did makaton to level 6
and bsl level 1
because we had a family friend who was deaf and i felt it was my fault i couldnt communicate with him

it should be taught in schools as manditory even if its just the basics

Well done you, I heard it was a lot harder. I stopped at level 1, but I did enjoy learning a lot.

I even used to teach my friends at uni some so we could communicate in loud clubs lol.
