McAnne's Gahan-Crazy

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 17 Jan 2008 11:31

So - it's 1.20am and I have finally turned the TV off and switched the lights out ............. minutes later one of the cats is meowing downstairs to get out (cat flap currently locked at night to keep Millie in).

Anyway - I get up to go and let them out - but foolishly didn't put any lights on and nor did I put my glasses on.

End result ................ I stepped off the stairs one step too early and went plunging forward smacking my hand on the newel post but just missed head butting the corner of the wall near the front door..........

So can I please have some sympathy for my very sore and rapidly bruising thumb joint :O((

Thanks lol

I have to admit - that split second when my foot stepped into nothing - felt like I was falling into a deep abyss.................

I got to work and knocked it and boy did it hurt - all i had in the freezer is a loaf of bread which i put on it to ease it.

It's swelling somewhat now - not broken but may possibly have chipped the bone - nothing they can do about that tho eh??

Aw! Poor you!

Still it's better to have it checked. It might need strapping.

Hi Anne, poor you. First off, get it checked out, as you could have damaged the scaphoid bone!
My son did this twice, once falling off his skateboard and then just as the plaster came off, he did the same injury to the other thumb at basketball!
It is difficult for the docs to see the fracture if there is one so sometimes they put on a plaster for a while to be sure of holding things in place. We were told by the nurse they do that to cover themselves in case of being sued later if they misjudge the situation! It might be worth you putting arnica on and seeing how you manage for a day first. The arnica will bring the bruise out faster and heal it quicker. Also try not to do too much with it and defo not knock it!!!!!!
Take care, next time put the light on and wear your specs, the cats can wait those extra few minutes while you find them lol
