Of good will at Christmas....!

Toothfairy

Toothfairy Report 11 Dec 2007 11:19

I asked my Oh to get the tickets for my little girls school show yesterday - but he 'couldn't be bothered'... By the time i'd finished running around at work the tickets had all sold out...
I was mortified and really upset to think of my little girl standing on stage looking for me in the audience...I begged them to make an exception for me and offered to stand - but got the usual 'procedure and fire regulation ' lecture. I was so upset (and emotional already that day) that i burst into tears and came home..
I explained to my little girl why i couldn't come and she was in tears too......

The show is at 1.30 today and i just recieved a call from the school....
One of the older children saw me on reception yesterday and went home and asked her mum for her ticket - she said that as she was older she didn't mind if her mum didn't go, but wanted me to be there for Jess!!!
We don't know the girl so it's even more of a fantastic gesture for her to make..

I am in tears just thinking about Jess's face when she sees me there today!!!

She's a ballet dancing kickboxer....!!!
She does modern, tap, ballet, swimming, American Kickboxing and shotokan.....

She's the first to speak in her play today and is the only one from year one to have 'lines'...!!

The other girl's mum must be so proud of her, i would be....!

Some times it takes a child to show us adults how to behave!
We could do with a few more of these 'good deeds' being reported I'm sure it would lift all our spirits. I hope the girls mum is proud of her.

That's wonderful Lou! Break a leg Jess lol!

Until 2 years ago, I was a School Administrator. Yes, there are fire regs and health & safety regs, but we would have got round it somehow. We would never have left a Mum without a ticket, or a child without their Mum in the audience!

Toothfairy

Toothfairy Report 11 Dec 2007 12:30

She was a mean old witch too Mandy, lol...
I even said i'd stand with my feet out of the room and just 'lean in', pmsl- but NOPE, it's 'regulations'...(i used to be health and safety trainer at work, so i know what she's on about) But still!!!!!!
*Sniff*

At least that LOVELY little girl could see my desperation....(Will cheer twice as hard for her when she's on)

the schools round my way save two tickets per children so that no parents can miss out, maybe you could ask the school to do the same, it saves on the upset of the parents and children going without. i hope you have a great time. what a lovely girl to do something so selfless. i think thats right)

love

Toothfairy Report 11 Dec 2007 12:41

Yes, My neices school allocates two tickets per child (and any extra can be ordered)
Apparently the tickets were on a first come basis - just that they forgot to tell everyone! *Tut*

Anyway - am away now to watch my princess...

I am surprised the school could not have got round that. But what a wonderful gesture from that young girl and her Mum (who also probably wanted to see the show. have you considered writing in to the school to praise her action, saying how distraught Jess was?

Hope you get some pics of that girl too, so you can give them to her for her Mum. What a lovely gesture. She will go far.
