its not made with eels no more that was years ago in the 2nd world war my nan used to have it then .

its like they used to put oysters into steak and kidney puddings up here they dont anymore.
it seems odd mixing fishy things with meat!

Deanna, not Jewish but I swear by chicken soup......not out of a can, but done from boiling the carcass and adding bits and pieces....

It could be that the effort taken in making a real chicken soup makes you forget you had a cold in the first place.....lol

Sorry Charleys, didn't want to make you feel bad....OH and I come from London and OH's lot are from the East End going back to 1700's so far....

Never been to an eel and pie shop myself, but they showed it on the telly and that is how they pronounced it......living there you will know better......sorry again...
