Sorry Charleys, didn't want to make you feel bad....OH and I come from London and OH's lot are from the East End going back to 1700's so far....

Never been to an eel and pie shop myself, but they showed it on the telly and that is how they pronounced it......living there you will know better......sorry again...

Deanna, not Jewish but I swear by chicken soup......not out of a can, but done from boiling the carcass and adding bits and pieces....

It could be that the effort taken in making a real chicken soup makes you forget you had a cold in the first place.....lol

its like they used to put oysters into steak and kidney puddings up here they dont anymore.
it seems odd mixing fishy things with meat!

Not sure about the eels charley`s angel, saying that ive never tried it and ill always try something at least once before i decide i dont like it.
not one day goes by that i dont eat a tomoto either fresh or tinned im addicted to them in the summer i grew more than 40 plants in the greenhouse im not exagerating (spl).

dont know but if I'fm poorly it has to be out of a tin cant be bothered with all the preparation to make the proper stuff.

can anyone remember rose hip syrup?
rice pud with that on top was lovely when you were feeling miserable.

its green gravy as me and the kids call it. it used to be made from eels not sure what they make it with now but if u ever get to try some defo do its beautiful. a lot of seaside places do it u usually get a pie 2 mash and licka ohhhh its wonderful!!!

Tomatoes must be a for healing then, or maybe it is the taste.....had a bad cold since Sunday and not interested in food......but had a lovely cup of Heinz tomato soup, and another tonight.....so maybe there is something in it.....
