Check the leaflet that came with them, but as others said, I think increased appetite and weightgain are.

I recently started some pills that caused ravishing all-consuming hunger as a side affect even when I'd just finished a meal, the only thing to do is try and ignore it, or ration what's eaten because it's not 'normal' hunger.

Absolutely normal.
Daughter was on steroids for a week after each two weekly chemo session for Hodgkins. she ate like there was no tomorrow!!!! she was concernd cos she was putting on weight but was told thats what we want!! chemo works best if your weight is good cos its ratio is geared to the weight.

She got through it and then has jioned W Watchers and lost the excess and then some!.Looks more her old self now

Yes, we dont take them but one of our animals does (for life) and whilst the appetite steadies out eventually - if we need to up the dose her hunger increases - but thats good as when she is poorly she goes off her food.

Jan do you mean that you are on them..... 5mgs a day? Or 5Mg tablets a day? (the little red ones?)

If yo are on them for a week.... do not worry, you may feel the need to eat a bit more, bit it is only for a week to two weeks.
Also there will be no long term side effects.

the side effects don't show for a short time like that.

When you have to have them long term..... now THAT is different.
Good luck on them. Why did he/she give you them? A chest infection?

I was on steroids for a blood disorder and I can honestly say, I was starving all the time. In the hospital, when the menu came round asking you to choose the next days food, I was always asking for extras, and the gr8 chef there, always obliged.
