C.mon! tell me what 22g is? in feet n inches!...well?

The following was easy!....£-S-D (pounds shillings and pence)

12 pennies made one shilling (a bob) 1/s

10 bob was 1/2 a pound. (10 bob) 10/s

240 pennies to a pound £1/s

A guninea was one pound one shilling. (£1/1s) used by posh people.

Threpence was 3 pennies. (3d) a threpenny bit.

Sixpence was a tanner. 6d (half a bob 12d)

2 shillings and 6pence was 2/6d (half a crown)

a farthing was a quarter of 1 penny. (you could buy 2 gobstoppers!)

1 penny (1d) got you 8 black jacks or 8 fruit salads.(sweets)

19/11 was just one penny off a pound (you could buy a shift dress for this!)...dont ask...

Why dont they make it easy! like in the olden days?!!!!!!

Grams n leeters and mily leeters!!!! gggrrrrr

This i DO know!...1 meeter is 3 foot 3 inches(3'3")...but how does that help me make a loaf in a bread maker machine?????

It's the American stuff that gets me. Take a teaspoon of this (fine) & 1/2 a cup of that but how big a cup?

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 13 Oct 2007 00:57

strange that you say that , Claire,
but no matter what style of CUP, short n fat or tall and thin, they are mostly the same volume......(give or take a little......)

works the same with mugs......I think.

Who remembers the price of bread back in the 1950/60s?...UK

All I remember is that if I spent 10/- (10 shillings) on a Sunday joint of meat. It did the job for the family....but if I spent 12/6 it would have to do two days dinners!
